Kodama laid in the grass, head down, tails still. His very breath, shallow, barely moving his chest. The blue stripes on his coat seemed to ripple like waves, as his little rump gave a wiggle. The grass made no sound, as he flinched, appearing like he wanted to move, but he remained in place. This behavior is seen in many predator that stalk their prey!
Up ahead, a magpie bounced about on twig legs, unawares. It pecked at the ground, looking mostly bored, rather than hungry. Hop - hop. It's tiny black noggin stopped for a moment, give a few turns of its head. Birds turn their head in this manner, to help them see their surroundings. The bird opened and closed its wings, then went back to what the previous task. Hop - hop, peck - peck.
Patently, this antlered fox waited. If the bird turned away from where he lay, he inched forward carefully, with practiced precision. A cool breeze played with the leaves of the nearby trees. Eyes of the foal closed for a moment, ceasing the cold flames that poured from his eyes. Opening them, shifty eyes quickly found the magpie again. That rump wiggled again. Pawing closer and closer, he grinned.
I got you now! he thought to himself, and launched into an aerial pounce. Dual tails became alive behind him, as paw and body launched to the bird.
Bawk!! The magpie cried out, flipping over on its back side, spindly twigs pushing at the air as the fox collided into him.
