It was the middle of the day, though the only way to tell was her watch. Her choice of attire was her usual blue clothes and lab coat. In front of her was the subject retrieved from the old cryochamber. He was unconscious, as he’d been for days. After he was found, he’d been relocated to the compound, and she was tasked with overseeing him. From defrosting him to providing intravenous rehydration, she and her team of scientists handled him. He was restrained by his limbs, but only to keep him still while they revived him.

In order to get it out of the way, she recorded her log, standing beside him. “It’s been three days since the subject was apprehended from stasis. He’s been unconscious for three and a half days, and his vital signs show he’s been regaining consciousness in the last ho—“ Her words were interrupted by one of the other scientists.

“He’s regaining consciousness,” he said. Instantly she turned her attention away from the screen and looked to the subject. She had so many questions, primarily on who he was. Records from the past couldn’t identify him; they were simply too outdated, or were deleted. Who he was, how he got there; she needed to know.

Henry Wednesday
Henry didn't remember what had happened, but his head was throbbing. As he opened his eye, he quietly muttered something under his breathe.
"Caroline, what happened?"
This was when he realized something was wrong. His limbs were bound, and this wasn't his old apartment, none of the people in front of him were his old partner Caroline Renz. He struggled for a few seconds, until something his old handler had said came raining back to him.

Her eyes narrowed and she rose a brow when she heard him mutter something about a person named Caroline. “Are you disoriented?” He seemed to be okay, or at least enough to communicate. “My name is Dr. Val Nuada. You’re in the Genesis Compound in Bostrom. We found you three days ago and revived you. Do you recall the date before you were put into cryo?” She was dying to know; the suspense was killing her. The date alone would provide plenty. His clothes didn’t give enough about the date, but if he could provide a date, it’d satisfy some of her curiosity.

Henry Wednesday
"November 16th, 23-something..."
The month was off by one, and he changed the day as well, only slightly. He remembered the year, but knew that their snooping wouldn't help him. Of course, if they didn't learn anything in three days, the chances were slim without his help. He relaxed, now casually reaching for a cigarette until his subconscious realized his arm was still restrained.
"Would you mind releasing one of my arms, it's been a while since I had a smoke last. If you could bring me the paper, I'd appreciate that as well."

He actually answered, but it didn’t quite add up with the information they had, and since the information was from their organization, she highly doubted it was incorrect. “I’m really sorry, and I know it’s not very comfortable, but I’m not authorized to release you until you pass your psychological evaluation. Apparently the board is worried that all your time in cryo has left you mentally unstable. I’ll help you, but you must help us first. Now, you mentioned the date around the 2300s, but the cryogenics program didn’t get their first successful unit until December 2300. You wouldn’t be lying to us, would you?” Unfortunately, the heart monitor was right beside her, and she had incentive to give it extra attention if she felt they were being deceived. His body was too busy trying to regain regular function, so he couldn’t psychologically fool his body to remain collected in a lie. If he was lying, the odds of him being released would be minimized dramatically.

"Of course I'm being honest, we're all friends here. Me, you, that angry looking guy in the corner over there. Bet he's fun at parties."
He was looking at someone who he assumed was security. It was then that he remembered a doctor, killed and disposed of expertly, who looked similar to himself, and who's badge was hidden in an interior crack of the cryo chamber seconds before he was frozen. He knew this cover i.d. wouldn't be believed by everyone, but it would likely get him out of the restraints, and able to escape if this Genesis was as vile as the one he remembered.
"Besides, I wasn't necessarily a volunteer. I was a doctor here. An old enemy of mine tried killing me. My name is James Baldacci, my I.D. is inside an interior crack on the left side of the chamber, just in case I needed identified."
He didn't see it as lying, then again he was taught not to for years at the agency. Besides, most of what he said was the genuine truth.

Her expression turned to a glare; now she knew he was lying, the reasons why soon to be mentioned. She hated being lied to, and the fact he was lying to her face agitated her. “Look, I’m not an idiot. We already found that and performed a thorough investigation of Dr. Baldacci’s records the day you were found. I reviewed his video logs for hours, and you’re certainly not Dr. Baldacci. I understand that the situation is hardly welcoming. You’ve woken up to a room full of people in lab coats, restrained, and you don’t understand the situation, so you’re assuming any level of honesty will be your undoing. We aren’t here to harm you; we just want to know who you are and why you were in there.” Realizing how stressed she was beginning to sound, she closed her eyes, took a breath, and recomposed herself, before speaking in a calmer tone, “You mentioned reading a paper; newspapers were abandoned in the early 2400s when the average person possessed a phone. If you’re curious to the date, it is January 2nd, 2500, the start of the 26th century. I’m here to help you. As soon as we know what we need to know, you have my word that I will do everything in my power to explain and to make sure you’re free to go. Please, I need you to trust me.” There was a lot of sincerity in her voice, convincingly honest.

Wednesday was confident now. The date came as a shock, but as is expected from near 200 years of time skipping. He knew what he wanted to, or most of it at least. He still wouldn't give her a real name, since his was near erased decades ago most likely. As is, only Governments knew his name back then anyways. He wouldn't give her everything, just enough to explain some things.
Fine then, my name is Booker Rylin. I am, or I suppose was a private investigator. A client asked me to investigate the compound, so I did. Someone trying to trap and kill me wasn't a lie though, that obviously happened. The way I see it, that client's been dead for almost 200 years now."
Private Investigators didn't need to officiate themselves with the government back then, and records from back then were likely dust at this point, or unreadable.

He seemed to be telling the truth, or at least mostly. She’d keep her part of the bargain. “Unbind him,” she commanded. The scientist at her left immediately looked worried, saying, “But, Dr. Nuada, the board will—” Val immediately shook her head in disagreement. “The board wants answers; we all do. If he’s going to trust us, we need to assure him we are worthy of his trust. Can’t you see this is absurd? He’s been in cryo for potentially two centuries, and those cuffs make it seem as if we’re about to dissect him. He’s likely hungry and weak from his slumber. Dr. Ivo, contact the cook and tell him to bring some food in 234B.” When he was unbound, she passed him clothes that were roughly his size, stark white, likely only temporary. “Dr. Faust, please help him to the changing rooms. He hasn’t walked in a long time. Be sure to escort him to 234B when he’s changed.” If all went well, they’d help him get changed and escort him to a rectangular room with a single table in the center and two chairs across each other, the table ready with a meal for one, Val occupying the second chair.

Wednesday took no time in lighting a cigarette. They were surprisingly fresh, almost more fresh than when he'd bought them. Even though the doctor was there, he was able to walk fairly well. They eventually got to the changing rooms.
"I'll take it from here."
Wednesday carefully took the white clothes from the doctor, and entered the dressing room. Once inside, he locked the door, and made sure there weren't any surprise cameras, he didn't see any. As he undressed, he stared at the new temporary clothes with disdain. He'd never liked the color white, reminded him of horrible memories. As he took off his pants, he quickly looked for pistol in his well hidden, expertly placed leg holster. It was gone now, much to his unnoticeable annoyance. He then put on the horrid white clothes, and put his shoes back on having not been given new ones. He left the changing room, and looked at the doctor, his old clothes in hand.
"Alright, where to, doc?"

As intended, he was brought into the hall and to 234B, which was a room very near. Unlike the changing room, the halls were full of security and cameras. It was, after all, a private location, and his very existence was classified to the outside world. It would take a special kind of stupid to attempt fleeing. Val sat in the farthest chair, across from the chair before him.

“I apologize in advance if the attire isn’t to your liking, and the absence of shoes, which will be provided soon. I’m sure you’re starving, so please sit and eat. I wasn’t sure what your taste in food was, so I apologize for that as well. I hope you don’t mind Filet Mignon with pepper creamed sauce, Fettuccine Alfredo, Marinated Chicken, and a Pomegranate Mojito Mocktail.” While she had some questions, she felt it better to let him regain his strength first. No one else was in the room but the two of them, a leap of faith, not that he posed much harm to her in there, unless he was somehow contemplating to murder her with a fork, the thought laughable. Hopefully he'd be cooperative, because she'd return the favor.

"With all due respect Dr, the clothing isn't necessary, mine are just fine."
Wednesday ate for a little bit, enjoying everything, although wishing for some Irish whiskey. He knew she had more questions, but as did he. It didn't take long for him to notice a crack in the prongs of the fork, and began examining it.
"Dr, does Genesis buy their silverware by any chance?"

It wasn’t that difficult to tell what was captivating him, though he’d hopefully make their future conversations more productive than discussing something as mundane as silverware. “Yes, though cracks in prongs aren’t exactly the major concern in a research facility. We hardly eat here as it is. I’m not going to pretend as if you don’t have questions of your own. I’ll answer them now to the best of my ability, provided you’ll return the courtesy when the right to ask is bestowed to me.” Her words were pretty straightforward. He wanted to know things and she wanted to know things, an exchange could be arranged.

Wednesday was staring at initials on the bottom of the fork.
"I haven't seen this fork in years, surprised it got here all the way from Albania, or what was Albania if Albania doesn't still exist. So, what've I missed in the past couple decades, the world still controlled by governments?"
He didn't like mentioning his past, but the memory of the time he ruptured that Albanian warlord's ulnar artery brought some sense of joy to him. Aside from her future questions, that memory was the only thing on his mind. Well, that and changing back into his decent clothes.
