It had been a wonderful day. A wonderful week. Astraeus was in one of the best moods he'd been in in a long time and it showed. Everyone he passed was greeted cheerfully and he asked how their days were going. It wasn't like Astraeus was normally rude and ignored everyone - it was just likely he was in his own little world, working. Today, the sun was shining and the sky was clear. Yesterday was a different story and he had been in an entirely different mood - moping and grumpy. The sky had been covered in thick clouds that day and he thought they would stay.
Tonight, if he was correct, there would be a meteor shower. He'd seen a few pass by - single meteors. They had increased and he was certain there would be a shower tonight. The sun was already beginning to set and he made his way to what he decided was the best viewing point. A blanket was laid out and he had his viewing lense - something that was precious to him and had taken months and a lot of resources to create. The glass inside the tube magnified whatever he pointed it at and tonight it was pointed directly at the sky. He'd brought snacks along - lest he be waiting some time before the shower started - and he helped himself to a berry or two, getting comfortable.

Up with the sun once again, the white mare known as Teleri Lindai had retreated to her favorite corner of Flock lands to work on her new trade. She'd recently figured out that she could wedge her desired material -wood or rock or bone- into a clever little nook in the rocks. With it held fast, she could wield a tool -a sharpened stone or severed piece of horn- to carve it down into whichever shape she wished. In this way she had begun to make new hair ornaments, and on occasion she even allowed the squirrels and other creatures to twine them in her mane as pleased them, for it made her little friends happy indeed and let her figure out what changes need be made.
As it stood, she'd spent much of the morning on one project or another, and was pleased with the progress she'd made. With a sigh and a stretch of her elegant neck, Teleri took a break from her current project and set the chisel aside, giving the white stone shape a narrow-eyed look. The first of her works with this material, it was harder to work than wood but the result was infinitely more pleasing, even in progress. When she was done carving the piece itself would be finished, there would be no need to constantly rub and polish it with painstakingly collected tree sap. Although, she had to admit, the way the wood gleamed golden in the sunlight was pleasant. Even if it didn't suit her coloring, she had others that looked fine indeed.
"Enough for today, I think." She murmured more to herself than anyone, for she insisted on being left alone while carving a work. If anyone was about, invariably they wanted to chatter, which was not easy for her to do when she had a tool clasped between her teeth. So she preferred to work in peace.
Leaving her works behind with a faint nod to the creatures that were her helpers, she moved back through the territory with her mind still on her work. It was coming along, though progress was slow. But she wanted it to be perfect, so slow was acceptable.
Absorbed in her thoughts, Teleri paid little heed to where her hooves were carrying her... And before she knew it, she was nearly stumbling over the outset blanket and the presence of another Flock member. "Oh, excuse me! I'm afraid I wasn't watching where I've been going."

Astraeus had not noticed the mare coming toward him until she was - almost quite literally - on top of him. He stammered and stumbled, coming to his feet with a flourishing bow. "Apologies mistress," he spoke. "I was in my own little world and did not notice your arrival." He recognised her as Teleri - Vanmoriel's daughter now come into age. Though they had not spoken personally, Astraeus had seen her as a foal in passing when delivering plants to her mother - he gathered for her quite often during the process. The pregnancy - and the father - had her muses running wild. It was pleasing to see.
A quick glance up at the sky, his desires outweighing the politeness he should perhaps show. There was no sign of it yet, but he was twitching a little - afraid of missing the opportunity. In his haste to stand it appeared he had knocked over his scope. "Excuse me," he mumbled, frantically picking it up and aligning it properly. "Everything has to be perfect, you see," he explained - though not specifically to the mare. "Don't want to miss it."
He turned and again gave the mare a bow. "Astraeus, mistress. I gather for your mother and help make her canvases though we have not personally met."

It was silly and careless to wander about with her head so caught up in her art that she didn't notice where she was going, still the stallion did not seem upset by it. He bowed even as she skirted back, ducking her head in a faint gesture of shyness. How silly indeed.
"No, not at all, it truly was my fault." She returned gently. "I am afraid I have been working on a project, and my mind is all afilled with it... I imagine you know what I mean, my mother gets like that about her paintings now and again."
And even if they didn't really know Teleri, most of the flock knew Vanmoriel or one of her sisters. They were so like grandmother Vanya that it was hard for anyone to miss the resemblance. While Teleri herself didn't look so like the beautiful harpy mare, she resembled her mother well enough -or had been seen in Vanmoriel's shadow enough- that they knew her on sight. Less striking than her sisters who bore the bright colors of their family line, but still recognizable.
"Perfect?" Teleri echoed as she watched him fiddle with and reset the scope. "Miss it? Did I interrupt?"
Perhaps she had been too distracted indeed, if there was something important enough happening that he seemed so nervous and excited.
"Astraeus." She echoed in her soft voice. "Yes, I recall her speaking of you, of course. Mother was very grateful for your help, it allowed her to focus on making her vision a reality... It is a pleasure to meet you, and please feel free to call me Teleri."
It seemed a bit peculiar to her to have a friend of her mother call her mistress, so she didn't think there would be harm in making the suggestion. Even if he ignored it or declined, at least she had tried.
"May I ask what it is you are waiting for?" LOLTERNATIVE So, totally thought I replied to this before now? Not sure how that happened. SO SORRY!
