What was she doing here?
Awendela shuffled her paws and looked around with a nervous glance. Talking with Azria about entering last year had seemed like the perfect thing to do. The male had such confidence that she could really improve in her abilities that Awen had foolishly believed him.
Azria was a trained fighter.
She was not.
Hiding her face from the onlookers, Awendela tried to keep herself calm by counting back from ten. 10...9...8...7.... The lioness knew that some of her younger siblings had entered, even some nephews, nieces...so it should be okay, right?
Then why did looking at the lioness infront of her make the already petite female, even by Ela standards, want to hide in a hole?

Opposing Awendela was the ever graceful, ever impressive, and ever ice cold Sigrid. The lioness carried herself with an air of nobility that gave her a subtle bitchy after thought. As it stood, she was positively staring daggers down at the shrinking female and wondering what exactly her oaf of a mate had talked her into.
Salazar had wanted them both to participate with big stakes on the line. If he won then they would have cubs (and a large litter! as if he had the power to make it so). Should she win, however, they would remain cubless. Sigrid thought the little ones as cute as any other, but only when they didn't come out of her!
Of course she was confident in her abilities. That didn't mean that she wanted to beat up on scared little females, though. "You know, you can forfeit. No one would think less of you."

ROLL NUMBER 2 SINCE THE BITCHES TIED
Shaking her shoulders, Awendela looked up at Sigrid with a sort of knowing frown. It would have been smarter for her to just forfeit, and lick her hypothetical wounds instead of suffering the embarrassment. Azria would be okay with that....
Awen frowned. No, no he wouldn't. Azria would have wanted her to fight! She squared her shoulders, and rose to her full height, which wasn't much at all. "I can do this, so you better be ready!"
Taking off at a run, Awendela sidled up next to the larger lioness and rammed her gut with a head butt.

WOAH SIGRID, YOU BEST KICK UP YO GAME GIRL GIRL, YOU GOT YO a** WHOOPED BY THE LION EQUIVALENT OF FLUTTERSHY. WAY. TO. GO.
There was no way in hell Sigrid could have prepared for that! At best she had thought the smaller lioness would come in with a swipe, but the way she moved...this girl had skills!
Sigrid fell over onto her side with a loud 'omph!', the very air getting knocked out of her lungs. If Salazar was watching he was sure to be laughing. Shaking her head with a snarling frown, Sigrid rose up and attempted a swip back at Awendela. However, because of her prone state and the ache in her ribs all she caught was air. Honestly, Sigrid was just happy to get back on her paws in one piece!

"Oh, oh no! I'm so so sooooo sorry!" The little lioness couldn't stop bouncing from paw to paw around Sigrid's prone form. It wasn't until the other lioness finally stood up that she even allowed herself to breath. Still, Awendela couldn't stop biting her lower lip. "I didn't make you mad, did I? I didn't mean to hurt you!"
With "gentle cat calling" from a member of those actually watching their bout, Awen remembered the fight was still going on. Swallowing her fear, she reached out with closed eyes to tap Sigrid, and thankfully enough for her she didn't make contact at all. Oh, what if she'd really hurt her!
"I'm not mad!" Sigrid hissed. Realizing how her change of tone had affected the other lioness, she sighed and cleared her throat. "It's a fight so your supposed to hit me with everything you've got. It's bad form if you don't. Now get on with it!"
Shaking off her bumps and bruises, Sigrid moved around to her opponents side. She looked for an opening and thwacked her paw onto Awen's exposed flank. Hopefully this was a sign that she was finally finding her groove. If I don't find a rhythm soon I'm going to lose and I'll never hear the end of it. She absolutely COULD NOT let Salazar win!

This was absolutely nerve wracking. Awendela didn't think she would be able to keep fighting if she kept shaking like this! She actually shrieked when Sigrid moved in, and closed her eyes once more, only opening them on a gasp when the lionesses paw smacked onto her flank. That was going to leave a bruise, all right!
Taking Sigrid's attack as a sign for her to keep moving, Awen spun around with a thwack of her own- right onto the side of Sigrid's head. It was more out of an unconscious respond than viciousness, so when her paw actually made contact Awen was just as surprised as Sigrid. "I'm so-"
Sigrid's vision went fuzzy for a moment. She shook her head, and eventually it returned to her. Growling in agitation, Sigrid reared back and came at Awendela with another attack of her own. "STOP APOLOGIZING." She wasn't mad at the lioness, nor did she actually wish her harm, but dammit, if all that apologizing wasn't annoying!
If she knew how to fight, then why was she acting like a little cub about it? Was this normal for Ela tournaments? It was a wonder they let rogues join at all! What if a rogue killed a natural member in a friendly spar just because they brought out their full skillset?

With Sigrid poised above her in striking position, Awendela rose up herself. Bracing herself on her hind legs, she used her paws to push the other lioness onto her back and effectively pinned her there. Her steady paws held her down despite the struggles. Thanks to Azria's training the bruises she got from Sigrid didn't feel bad at all! He was so much tougher on Awen than this lady was, and he was right; fighting was kind of fun!
"Fine, no more apologizing, but then that means I don't have to say anything when I whoop your butt!" Flawless trash talk! She only hoped her parents weren't around to hear her.
Sigrid felt the air leave her lungs for a second time that fight. This time she nearly gagged on her own spit, and it mortified her. Was she really so weak that she was being beaten by this little whisp?! Never!
Grinning, Sigrid gave a little laugh. "Depends on if you can beat me or not, princess." Sigrid angled her shoulders so that when she rose up, she slammed her head against Awen's. The force of it knock Sigrid for a loop, but she was used to the feeling of dizziness. It was enough to stun Awen into allowing Sigrid to get back to her paws.
