Hobbies:

• Tennis: Generally, “hitting something over a net” is Donny's favorite sport, but he plays tennis most regularly and is usually involved in local tennis events. He doesn't particularly care for competition, so he rarely wins against people who practice regularly and are obviously trying....but he's good enough that he can easily trounce a beginner.
  
• Writing: Donny's lifelong passion has been to be a writer. His fiction tends to have social justice and anthropological undertones, much like the works of Charles de Lint. Currently, he's compiling a series of short stories...mostly urban fantasy or modern fantasy. He's in contact with a publisher and hoping to get some of his stories printed in a compilation sometime soon.
  
• Doctor Who: This television series has just gripped Donny's imagination. He wrote fanfiction and dresses as one of the Doctor's incarnations when an opportunity arises. He'll be glad to talk to you about anything in the Doctor Who universe if you'll let him.

Virtues:

• Fatherly: Sometimes a bit closer to "older brotherly", Donny tends to be the sort of person that looks out for others and helps teach them about life experiences, but is not afraid to try shepherding them toward a better path. Generally, this is most obvious and useful in his job as a guidance counselor where several students look up to him. However, he has been known to give helpful advice to others and give them a place to stay or a meal to eat if they need it.
  
• Egalitarian: Donny believes that everyone is spiritually equal and deserves an equal chance to pursue their dreams and happiness. He'll try to help those he feels are given unfair societal disadvantages and will attempt to do so in an empowering way.
  
• Conversational: Donny is adept at conversational arts. He listens well - not just waiting for the other person to pause before interjecting his own points, instead building on what his conversation partner is saying, asking questions and drawing out more information.

Flaws:

• Overbearing: The downside to his fatherly virtue is that he can be a little pushy when he helps out He also tends to scold/chastens/admonishes/rebukes those he cares for when he sees them doing wrong and being scolded is always embarrassing, even if it's by your real father.
  
• Poor Work/Life Boundary: Donny has a difficult time keeping his work life from bleeding into his home, social and family life. If there is a rough situation at work, he'll likely be stressed out and touchy at home or with friends.
  
• Emotionally Cautious: Donny is slow to express or act on emotion, often causing other people to think he is uninterested or unfazed by things which cause others to emotionally react. People who move more quickly in relationships are more likely to drop him like a sad hat.

Wonder: Real-world Genbudo is a basalt cave in an extinct volcano in Japan. It is the largest of a collection of 4-5 caves in the volcano. The others are named Byakkodo, Seiryudo and North and South Suzakudo. The name Genbudo refers to the northern protector god, Genbu, who is depicted as a black tortoise and a snake. Despite the god's appearance, Genbu is the only one of the four gods to have a name not directly related to its animal depiction. Instead, the name "Genbu" roughly translates as "Dark Warrior".

Weapon: Genbudo's incense is based loosely off of the idea of an incense clock. An incense clock can either be a contraption that utilizes a notched stick of incense that will drop segments of ash on a gong or chime at timed intervals or simply a stick of incense which has been notched to mark a particular length of time. Some east-Asian doctors would give the latter form to patients to indicate how often a medicine should be administered.
