User ImageIt was getting to be dark -- not so late yet that Shifter-skins turned silver, but dark enough to get one thinking about where one might spend the night. Which was exactly what Ouen would have been doing… if he wasn’t currently occupied by wandering the jungle floor and shouting at the darkness.

“Shen? C’mon, Shenandoah, where are ya?”

He knew the juvenile radaku was here, somewhere; he had been listening, and he knew the creature’s footfalls had not gone far before plunging into something soft, rustling and likely hidden. And if that wasn’t evidence enough, he was quite sure that from time to time he could hear a soft, keening whine from somewhere in the undergrowth. The sound was not loud for Ouen to properly locate his source… but it was plenty insistent enough to make him worry.

“Aw, Shen, c’mon. You gotta come out an’ lemme see if you’re ok.”

Still nothing -- just luminescent darkness, rustling, and the occasional whine.

Ouen let out a whistle, but was not particularly surprised when this had no effect. After all, Shenandoah wasn’t exactly… well, trained. Because Ouen didn’t know the first thing about training wild animals like that. The only reason the radaku followed him around and sometimes obeyed his commands was because it had no one else to follow, and Ouen offered food, protection and a warm place to stay. Plus, they got along, the two of them -- they had similar personalities, in some ways. On a good day they made a pretty solid team, but on a bad day…

Well, it was the bad sort of day.
