Aekepi - put mildly - was lost. Caine had sent him out to gather some herbs for homemade medicine, but he'd been following the map upside down, and from Caine and Jason's cabin, he'd gone the completely wrong way. The coyote reminded himself to try and give his father a piece of his mind when he got back. At any rate. In the woods. Lost. And it was starting to get dark. And cold. Well, at least he'd taken his medication today, so he didn't run the risk of any seizures. That would have been just LOVELY, to have a seizure in the middle of the woods, where no one could hear him, and help wouldn't be around for miles. Caine was probably worried about him, and he knew they'd be out to look for him if he wasn't home by the time it was dark.
This. Sucked. He plopped down right in the middle of where he was standing, and looked up at the darkening sky, where he was almost able to see the twinkle of stars above him. This sucked, it wasn't fair, and he was in no mood to deal with it. Jason had said it was easy to get lost around here - he was right. Now which way had he turned before this glade-area? Was it east? No, it had to have been south... west? Southeast? Yeah. Lost. Bigtime. Lost. He just hoped that no one else was around here... or else things could get a little embarrassing. Especially if 'deine showed up - or Tasius. Or even Aurora... heh, that would be a sight. He started on what he thought was the way back - which in truth, he hadn't an inkling about.

Aurora had once again gotten himself lost in the forest, but this time there was no Kinnara to save him. He whimpered a bit holding the basket close to his chest. He had wanted to pick some forest berries for Medeine...she came fromt he forest and he wanted to get her a gift. She was ever so kind to him.
But now it was dark, he could feel the night chill seeping into his clothing. Starting to feel a bit frantic as the darkness started to close around him he quickened his pace tearing through bushes, tears starting to threaten to spill down his cheeks. He hated this feeling of helplessness, he wanted to be strong but didn't know how.
The sound of something running through bushes and getting caught on numerous things could be heard for soem distance. Like some wild animal charging through the night blindly.

Aekepi heard the sound of someone else in this place. Someone who - like him - was probably lost. He sighed, and turned around, headed back the way he'd heard the... was it a whimper? Yeah. He pushed through the last of the bushes in his way, and stopped stock-still. Aurora! Now this he HADN'T expected.
"H-hey... Aurora? What are you doing out here?"
He blinked and looked at the basket - starting to put things together.
"Came here to get something like I did, huh. Do you know which way it is out of this forest?"

Aurora skidded to a halt as the Aekepi stepped out of the bushes in front of him. He let out a rather..unmanly shriek but soon quieted down after reconizeing the boy from before.
Sniffling back tears he nodded his head at Aekepi and then shook his head. He used the back of his hand to wipe the tears in the corners of his eyes. "No..no..I got lost...again.." he replied trying to get ahold of himself.

"Seems like we both have bad luck today."
He sighed, and walked over, smiling a bit. Taking an apple from a tree above Aurora, he offered it to him.
"Why don't you snack a bit - you look starved. I'm still trying to figure out how to get out of here."

Aurora took the apple with a shy smile and polished the surface with his tunic. "I couldn't possible eat without sharing." he said as he rifeled through the basket he was carrying and offered Aekepi some blak berries. "You look hungry too." she said trying to lighten the mood through his sniffles.
The fac tthey were both lost at night i the wilderness was worrisome to the young boy. "All I know is we need to find the..north star? to gain our sense of direction." he said remembering what Jay had told him about navigation at night. "but we need to find a clearing of some sort..i can;t see the sky at all here." he said looking up through the massesof branches above them.

Aekepi helped himself to the berries in the basket, and looked up, tail twitching in irritation. And perhaps a little fear. And a littlle worry.
"You're right about not being able to see the sky. There's too many trees in the way. The only clearing I've ever seen in this forest was while riding in my dads' car... It was 20 miles back the other direction... "
He scratched the back of his neck while he popped another blackberry into his mouth, thinking. He swallowed before speaking again.
"I can make 20 miles.... but it might take the whole night... And I don't even know which direction to start headed. I just remember dad saying something about there being a ring around this central part of forest in which no trees grow.... I suppose we could just start headed straight in any direction for 20 miles, and see where that gets us?"

Twenty miles seemed really far to Aurora but he nodded his head and inched a bit closer to Aekepi, afriad as if he would start off running in any direction. "My ma also said that moss gross on the north side of tree's..but it is so dark i can't really see much except for you and me." He continued looking a the shadows that now pressed down upon them scarily.

He nodded a bit, and gripped Aurora's hand in his own. It was a calloused, work-worn hand. He'd been doing chores for a while on the house that Caine and Jason shared here. He squeezed slightly to provide a bit of comfort. HE was scared as well. And the whole "walking 20 miles" thing seemed like a trek to forever. But nonetheless..
"I'll protect you."
He started off, making sure his hand was still in Aurora's, looking up to try and gather some form of direction from whatever he could, and having no luck whatsoever.
"Just stick with me, and I won't let anything happen to you."

Good thing it was dark otherwise Aekepi would of seen the deep blush on Aurora's face. His hand on Aurora's was rough and different from Kinnara's. But he did feel safer, at least this way he wouldn't have to fear about getting seperated from the lad.
Licking his lips he looked around the dark and very scary forest. Why was it that in the day the forest didn't look so threatening? He wondered about this was they started teh 20 mile trek. Well at least they had the berries he had picked, but he had nothing to drink...
"Aekepi...are you alright? I mean...when that dragon boy attacked you, it looked like you got hurt.." he said remembering the event.

Aekepi sighed as he thought back to the fight, and thought of the mental and physical scars he bore from it. He bit his tongue against saying anything derrogatory about the dragon.
"I did. But it's.... in the past now. I don't think I'm going to try and apologize for what I did, unless he apologizes for what he did. Which I doubt is going to happen."
He murmured the last, only loud enough for Aurora to JUST hear it.
"I already know it was my fault. I should have watched where I was going."
He squeezed Aurora's hand again.
"Truth is, 'rora.... I didn't want to see YOU get hurt by that brute. And a brute he most definately is. Nothing but a big bully. You n' 'deine don't deserve to be treated like that. Ever."
It was a good thing it was dark. Aeka was blushing as well.

Aurora smiled but remained silent for a moment. It seemed strange to him, there were so mny guys who were either incredible sweet and caring or complete jerks who liked to bully or hurt others. It made him a bit fearful that he might become like on of them.
"I am glad that no one got seriously injured," he murmured trying to get a better look at Aekepi. The cyote boy reminded him a lot of Kinnara but in a different way. He could fathom why.
They had walked a while and though Aurora tried to start idle chit chat he thought perhaps this was not the best time to bother. "Do you like Mediene?" he asked curiously.

"Like... LIKE her like her? Or just like her?"
He blinked a bit in confusion. Sure - he liked 'Deine as a friend, but not anything more than that. He really wasn't atttracted to her at all. Though he'd heard Caine say something about it - he didn't really remember what.
"I like her ok - I mean, she's a friend. I don't... LIKE LIKE her... If that's what you mean."

For some reason Aurora gave a soft giggle and pulled himself up to Aekepi to keep better pace with him. "I was just wondering.." he said with a smile and then noticed that he would out of step with Aekepi and quickly took a double step to switch feet positions now he walked in unison with Aekepi.
"IS there anyone?" he asked now too curious to realize that this was a private kind of question...one you may ask a friend you were really close too.

Aekepi's blush deepened, and his grip became slightly tenser. He laughed softly.
"Well... yeah... I'm walking with him."
He stopped, turning to look at Aurora. He didn't know how the other would take THAT news - but hey. A "no" was better than no answer at all.
