Mythical Wolf

Since she had nothing else to do fr the rest of the day Kalliope was out and spending time with her mother's familiars. For the moment she was having a good run with the janarim. She was light on her feet and often she would use this as practice for her dances. She'd twist her feet and spin around so that her skirt and long sleeves would flare out, drawing attention to those certain areas. With a laugh she'd feign to the right and avoid the gentle nudge of the beast as he tried to tag her. The creature would adjust course and continue on after her, though he never seemed intent on hurting her. With a squeal of delight she picked up her pace hoping she could continue to outrun the beast.

He had made it into Oba, not that he was particularly happy with the prospect, and was busy trying to figure out which direction he needed to go in next when he heard a squeal. Gael gave a look around trying to learn which way the sound had come from. When he saw a girl running from a beast he assumed the worst. The thing was trying to hurt her. So he reacted. The young matori took off at a run so that he could catch up and help the girl. Never mind that she was an Oban. She was a girl! He caught up to her as fast as he was able and grabbed her around the waist. In another moment he had her lifted up off the ground and he was running in a different direction. Confusing the janarim that chased her.

When she felt an arm around her waist she blinked. Janarim didn't have arms. At least not the kind that could grab someone. Kalliope gave a scream and tried to twist around so that she could see who had grabbed her. "What are you doing!?" The red head did her best to flail and cause the person carrying her to drop her. "Let me go! Put me down!" Kalli reached one arm back and made a grabby hand motion at her mother's familiar. She wanted the beast to save her from whoever it was that was trying to make off with her.

He heard the girl's words and gave a confused look, not that she could see it. Still he didn't let go of her just yet. She might think he was the owner of the beast if it had one. Gael continued to run with her until he could get somewhere that the creature couldn't. A cave. The entrance was too small for the beast to get into and once inside he moved the Oban girl toward the back to make sure she wasn't hit by any stray arm. "Easy. I was just helping you." Gael set her down and turned her around so that he could look her over. He wanted to make sure she didn't have any injures. "Are you hurt?"

Helping!? This idiot thought he was helping? When she was put back on her feet she turned and glared at the boy who had lifted her up so easily and ran. She knew she was small but she didn't think boys could just go around lifting her up whenever they pleased! "I am fine! That is my mother's familiar! I wasn't in trouble." Kalli refrained from calling the matori any names. Which wasn't that hard but she did experience some difficulty in not smacking him for what he had done.

The young matori took a moment to process what he'd just heard. "Why in the seven seas was your mother's familiar chasing you?" Gael blinked several times before he shook his head. "No, don't answer that. I don't want to know." He gave an exasperated sigh before he moved away from the girl. To think that he had "saved" an Oban. It was enough to make him want to punch the cave wall. At least he hadn't gotten hurt in the process, then he really would have been upset. Reaching up to run a hand through his hair he tried to think of what else to say to the girl. When nothing came to mind he simply settled for giving her a look.

Her hands settled on her hips and she glared at him. "We were playing. He needs exercise." Kalli didn't mind playing games with the large creatures that her mother liked to collect. In fact she often times would volunteer to be the one to take them out. It was also a good way for her to avoid other chores. "Don't look at me that way. You were the one that assumed things."

Exercise. Of course. Because the big creature needed to work out and become more dangerous than it already was. Gael pulled a hand over his face and rubbed the irritation away from his expression. "Alright.. then tell it to back off so we can leave the cave." Dropping his hand to his side he sighed and looked toward the opening of the cave. Surely there was another way to give the Janarim a work out than making it look like it was chasing some small girl.

Still glaring at the boy she rolled her eyes and moved toward the mouth of the cave. "Get back boy. We're coming out." Kalliope called to the beast as it waited patiently for it's owner's daughter to come out. With this encouraging comment it backed up and the Oban looked over at Gael as if to be a bit cocky. "See." With that she headed on out and went over to pet the beast gently.

His eyes followed her as she held an attitude about her. However, it was his turn to roll his eyes when she showed off a bit by making the creature move away from the cave. "Next time don't look like a damsel in distress." It was the only real come back that he had. With a deep breath he followed the girl out of the cave and watched her as she pet the Janarim. "Why do you Obans have such beastly familiars?" Must have something to do with how the general fire population was.

"I did not look like a damsel!" Kalliope huffed at the boy indignantly. Then she looked at her mother's familiar for a moment. Maybe she had appeared that way since she was very tiny compared to the beast in the long run. "Anyways, who are you?" Her red eyes turned on him and she waited for his answer.

"Yes, you did." Gael smirked at her. Good, she was frustrated. It only served her right since she made him think that she was in trouble. When he was asked about who he was his shoulders came up in a small shrug. "Name's Gael." What more could he say? That he was from Matori? Well that was kind of obvious. Besides, she didn't need to know his whole life history.

Well at least he was polite enough to give a name. Her eyes looked him over and noticed the type of clothing he was wearing. Didn't he know that it was hot in Oba? Tilting her head slightly she'd mull over her next question before finally voicing it. "What are you doing in Oba?" Kalliope cleared her throat a little before adding rather quickly. "Not that you can't be here. I just mean.. you know, what brings you here." Great, now he was going to think she was just like the bad Obans that enslaved his people a long time ago.

The girl's first question had him narrowing his gaze at her. Gael knew he didn't like this region for a reason. Obans were always so rude. Then she amended her statement and he eased up a little. "I'm on an errand for my aunt." Not that he really knew what it was. He was to deliver something to someone and wait for a reply if there was one. He didn't know what it was and really he didn't care to know. His aunt was a weird one. "You always hang around the border?" Surely there were better places to run a Janarim.

Her mouth formed an "o" as she figured out what he was doing. "Well, try not to cause any trouble. You don't want to end up in jail." Kalliope thought she was simply warning the boy but her words could be taken the wrong way. Moving so that she could climb up onto the beast and sit on its back she looked down at Gael when he questioned her about being near the border. "No.. we just ended up here is all." And it was about time she headed home. She didn't want her mother to worry and send her siblings out to find her.
