While in the market getting groceries, Onora heard of the festival of the Firebird that the Wind tribe would be holding soon; filled with dancing, music, art, and most importantly - food! It would be a chance for her to learn more techniques, different types of foods, new recipes... but she would have to get there first! A thought occurred to her as she listened; perhaps if she brought a Matori recipe with her she could trade cooking secrets!

But it would take more than just one of the traditional Matori dishes, Onora would have to pull out all the stops if she was to get her hands on the Sauti recipes.

Quest Tasks
||. Quest will start with her hearing of the Festival and its many attractions as well as rumors of the delicious Wind foods that are rarely seen outside the nomadic tribes.
||. She should have a set of trial and errors of making her dish, going through a few of the normal Matori dishes before she tries to create her unique dish.
||. Onora will have to discover a new herb or ingredient for her dish before she can call it complete and her signature dish.
||. The quest should end with her successfully completing a Matori themed dish she creates on her own.

It was a seemly normal day for Onora; the sun was high in the sky and she had already made a batch of wraps for the neighbors around her. She loved giving them food and especially since many of them did not have homes, she even let them eat and stay at her own's some nights. She just finished wiping her hands on her cloth, drying them, before she grabbed the food and placed them in a large leaf, letting her carry them at once. Her feet were moving her out the door as she slung the make shift bag around her. Her large body bounced and swayed with each step she took, and soon she reached the small huts of shelters that held her fellow Matori folk.

People from all ages, elders to younglings, smiled the moment they say Onora and ran up to her. She said her hellos before she began handing out the wrapped food she prepared. One of the older ladies, Nae, was always there after her son moved his family once they were freed, and she walked up to the large girl.
"Onora. Thank you again or taking care of all of us. It means a lot to this little old lady." She gave a smile while Onora gave her a warm hug. "You took care of my family when we needed it, and you all are my friends. I'm lucky enough to know you all, let alone be able to help." After handing her a wrap, Nae took a bite and sighed, letting her stomach appreciate the food she was consuming. "You make the best food. Well, you and your father.

Onora felt a slight pang in her chest as she wished her family was here with her, but kept the smile on her face. "I don't think I'm that good Nae." The woman shook her old head before taking another bite. When she swallowed, another man came to get his food, and he seemed to be new to this hut. "Could I have some food?"

"Of course! Here, I made plenty." She said as she handed one to him, before continuing with everyone else. Nae waved her good bye and walked back to her blanket, sitting and finishing her food in silence. The man turned to her and smiled. "This is very good! You should be famous! He said jokingly. She thanked him before he continued. "There's actually a festival coming up, in Sauti, where I've heard there is plenty of food! I'd think you should go! See what foods out there and show them how good your food is!" The people around them were nodding in agreement with him, some of them vocalizing that she should go as well.

She never heard of any festivals out of Matori, but everyone was encouraging her to go, and a part of her wanted to thank them but not leave; in case her family came home. Nae must've had a guess because she came back and placed a hand on her shoulder.
Go child. I'll be here in case your parents come back. Trust me, once I see them, I won't let them go." A laugh escaped Onora's lips as she nodded. "Okay, okay. I'll go show them how Matori food is the best." Everyone gave a quick cheer before they went back to accepting and sharing food.

Once they were all fed, the man came back and sat near Onora, who was now sitting with Nae.
"I went to the Festival of Firebird last year. There is so many things to do, no one every gets to do everything. There's not enough time!" He laughed a hearty chuckle, and Onora was quite shocked. She knew of the festivals in all of Tendaji, but never left Matori to see the fun for herself. Now this was the perfect time to. Nae said she would stay to watch out if her family came home, and if she went out, maybe she would hear some signs of where they are.

The sun just finished setting by the time Onora began walking home. She loved hearing about the other towns in the world, and it seemed like mostly everyone excluding herself, has traveled and met the other races - not including Obans, since most of everyone worked for them sometime in their life. She walked in and sat down, rubbing her sore feet. Her large set body always lost to gravity and by the end of her feet would always be sore. Taking this time to think about what food she would make, Onora started getting frustrated. She wanted to make something new; something that no one has even tried before. She wanted something that would win.

Once her feet didn't hurt anymore, she placed her hands on her lap and mentally went through what she wanted to make. Everything she thought of, she scratched off seconds later. It was all things she knew, and things she had already made before. Slowly she stood up and began pacing, thinking of the sea critters she could use. She heard that there was a pink scaled fish in the largest tidal pool near her home, and if she got that with one of the spiced herb leaves in the forest, she was sure it would work together.

The next morning Onora woke up quickly, wanting to get as much time she could to obtain her supplies. She grabbed the leaf like bag she used just yesterday and left her home, feeling the humid wet air against her face. Trudging up the sand, she made her way to the more forested area, knowing the tidal wave was on it's way back home anyways, it would be the last thing she collected. Minuets went by and soon she was in the shaded area entering the trees. The spice leaf she was looking for had blue hues to it, with a purple tint to the outer tips when in sunlight, which was going to be a bit tough to find since the sun wasn't directly above her so she would have to pick all the leave she thought it would be and lift them above her eyes.

Leaf after leaf, Onora plucked and looked, only to grunt in disappointment. She kind of wished someone was with her to pass the time in conversation but knew she would get side tracked and not find what was needed. There was a leaf with a white tint in the light, that she thought would work until she pressed her tongue against it. Her expression turned into pucker, and she dropped it. It was extremely sour and would ruin the meal! Once the taste subsided, she sighed and trudged to the next one, hoping it would be the one she was looking for. As she plucked it, a purple tint appeared on the spot that got hit by the sun rays and her eyes went wide. She quickly raised it to the sky and saw the full purple. "I found it!" She yelled to herself, before placing it on her tongue. There was a slight spice that built to the perfect taste. After grabbing a handful, just in case, she pushed them into her bag.

Her day was looking brighter since she found the leaves, but it was only half of her battle. Now she had to not only find, but catch the pink scaled fish at the tidal pool. There was a pep in her step as she walked back out of the forest, hoping the fish won't tease her, and she can catch it quickly. The sun was higher and the heat was already making a slight sheen of sweat. She wiped it with the back of her hand and continued her way back out of the forest and back to the more sandy terrain. It was about twenty minuets before she made it to the tidal pool, and it was filled with gleaming, colorful fish and other critters. She looked around and found a small stick and began rubbing it against the stone, making a small point at the end. Her hands were red from the friction between her flesh and the stick, but it wasn't enough to actually hurt.

Turning her body, ever so slightly so the fish wouldn't get scared, Onora watched the waters carefully, hoping the pink scales would be easy to detect. Ripples appeared for a second but disappeared right afterwards, leaving no sign of the critter that caused them. Right when Onora thought she wouldn't be able to get the fish, a pink reflection went from one side of the rocks to the other before going back to the pink coral. It was hiding in it, the pink matching his scales perfectly. With a serious expression, and a quick jab in the waters, the water earthling pierced the tail of the critter, but also broke part of the coral causing everything that inhabited it to swarm out and pull the fish with them. "Oh no you don't!" She said as she grunted and lifted the fish out. It flopped in the air for a little bit before finally submitting it's life to the fish under world. She looked at the pink scales, and now that they were in person, they looked almost like a pearl color. She grabbed it, expecting to feel slimy fish scales yet instead, found that it felt smooth; like the scales were painted on and not actual scales protruding out.

It was a strange fish, one that she wasn't used to cooking with, but she heard about how it matched perfectly with the leaves. After wrapping it in a leaf so it wouldn't leak onto the leaves, she had the fish carcass join the spice herb leaves in her bag. Her time was done outside, and now it was needed inside. Cooking to be exact. She made her way back home, glad it was only a couple minuet walk from the tidal pool, and by the time she thought of how she was going to cook it, she was down her road to her home.

Walking into her empty home, she placed everything on a table and instantly let her mind relax and started feeling out the task ahead of her. She washed the leaves, fish, and other basic ingredients with the little fresh water she had and then began chopping all the veggies up. Looking at the fish, she almost didn't want to skin it, but knew that skin would be way too leathery for the dish she was imagining, and made one hard cut into it's neck before pulling the knife towards her, severing the head from the body. Scaling, well really skinning, this sea creature was though work telling her she was right about the leathery feel. It took her almost till sun down before the fish was deboned, cleaned, and cut into fillet pieces.

One of the pieces, she cut into even smaller slices, to be her experiment bites - since she didn't want to use up all of the fish she just got. Wrapping the other ones, she put them away for the moment and placed the all but one of the spiced herbs she got with them. Cutting the leaf in half, she chopped up one half into fine pieces, and the other side was grinded into a powder. Starting off with what she knew, she began going through ideas she had with the two main ingredients.

Lightly cooked - scratched off. Dry rubbed - scratched off. Marinated in leave extract - slightly better but still scratched off. Nothing was coming out right! She looked at her last piece of fish and prayed to an invisible being that this last idea would work. Maybe they didn't have to made together at all. Maybe the leaves were supposed to accent the already prepared fish? She quickly prepared the last sample with a simple, innocent dish. Sautéed with the leaves raw on top.

As she stared eye level at the finish piece, it looked a bit plain - which totally scared Onora out. With a concentrated look, she lifted it like an unknown item and carefully placed it in her mouth. The first chew didn't have much to it but as she thought it was a failure, her saliva broke down the leaves and a sensation filled her mouth. It was slightly salty and full of spice. There were sweet whispers throughout the bite, making Onora smile when she swallowed. It was the best thing she ever made and it was her pride and joy. She ran outside, but realized something rather important. She couldn't really share it with anyone when she saw the pitch black sky. Everyone was sleeping, so she would have to keep this a secret until Sauti.
