Forera finally returns home and fortunately, Anguis is at home restocking from his last journey of looking for her. Unfortunately, the reunion doesn't go quite as expected...

Forera had set out on her journey back to her hive very recently, having told Vulpin it was something she had to do— for her and Anguis's sake. She had taken one of his old, small ponchos, fashioning it into a airy shirt and thankful for the grey sign on the front. To Vulpin, she claimed it would just take too long to put her own color, but really, she was starting to get a little nervous about her own sign being traced. Adjusting the shirt a little, the still-bare tealblood fidgeted as she neared her house, having let Vulpin pull her hair into a braid. Although she usually didn't like the style, she left it on, fiddling with it the nearer she got to her own hive— a small reminder that now, no matter what happened she was not alone.

When her hive was within sight, the teenager began to walk a little faster, an overwhelming desire to be in her own home giving her an overwhelming amount of strength. She wanted to cuddle in the piles, to make a mess and leave it strewn about her hive messily... Ignoring the closed sign, the tealblood opened the door to the piercing parlor on the first floor with a loud chime. Giving it a through looking over, the happy memories she felt surge through her body felt so amazing... It was exactly the same. Darting over toward her station, she took a few pieces of jewelry she had tucked away and slid them into her facial piercings with a little effort due to her having no hand, feeling more like herself now that she had the lip ring to fiddle with.

With a small feeling of nostalgic joy, the tealblood climbed up the steps in the back room, already feeling her body relax as her eyes glazed over the stuff she left. Her smile widened into a large, goofy grin and her only hand clenched and unclenched, shoulders rolling as her body slid into its old swagger. A giggle, loud and foreign, exploded from her throat as she wandered into her own respiteblock, tears pricking at her eyes. She came just to visit. Now, she needed to head out and find them. Find them all. So she began searching her room for a spare weapon-- She'd need it to knock out a drone and find out where her and Anguis's lusi were-- as well as Anguis himself.

Returning to his hive was hard. It had always been hard since Forera had gone missing, since everything had felt empty and silent when he entered the hive. He used to relish in the silence when he had it, meaning that he had time to himself without Forera running around and bothering him. But it felt wrong now and he avoided returning home, taking longer and longer trips in his search for his twin.

Forera. She'd been missing ever since they'd been thrown in jail. He'd lost sight of her and Vulpin, left alone until he'd been freed. At first he'd just returned home, tried to wait for her. But it had taken longer and longer until finally, he had just decided to go looking for her himself. He hadn't been successful yet but he'd.... he'd find her soon. He had to. As it was, he was in the nutritionblock now, getting some food to replenish what he had eaten while out. He was running low but there wasn't time to restock, just to get something and then get out. He had to find Forera make sure she was okay.

A loud noise made him jump though, fear immediately running through him. Someone else was in the hive, someone he didn't know. He looked down at his writs almost out of instinct, the tattoos that he had for the jail covered by a pair of sweatbands he had found. Had they come to get him? Moving gingerly, he grabbed a nearby item he could throw (a lamp, for whatever reason it was doing in the kitchen) and carefully moved to the doorway. "Who's there?!" He yelled, a note of fear in his voice. He'd rather face whoever was there head on than be taken by surprise by them, stare whatever was here in the face. Dragondad would be proud, he always told Anguis to face things head on. Even if it was death.

      "Who's there?!"

The yell made her flinch, but after a second of confusion, realization dawned on her. The sound was something she remembered quite well due to it's constant whining and drawling of her name-- It was comforting, listening to it resound in her ears. A dramatic gasp slid out of the teens mouth, and Forera bolted to the door, expression morphing into something along the lines of disbelief and concern. As she rushed toward where she heard the voice, something in her snapped. She quickly slammed the door to the kitchen open.

It looked same as usual, a mess, but the only thing different was the presence of a kid. A kid with black and teal hair and a headband. His hair was oddly cut, and he wore a circle on his chest-- Her symbol. Their symbol. He was holding a lamp like a sword-- As if to threaten her. Anguis. Forera's body trembled, almost as if she couldn't believe it. Startled, she stepped backwards, jaw opening and closing, eyes almost bulging from her skull.

      Suddenly, the tealblood started laughing.

Forera laughed while her body shook, hand clenching and unclenching, feeling almost crazy-- deluded, like she was seeing things. Hearing things. It couldn't be real. He's still captured. I'm hallucinating. A tear slid down her cheek. All of a sudden, big, robust droplets of water burst from her eyes like a waterfall, rushing down her face. Some fell into her mouth while snot dripped from her nostrils, arms snaking up to her hair and squeezing the threads with her only hand, tugging at it, nails digging into the nice braid violently, trying to convince herself she was seeing an illusion through pain. It couldn't have been this simple. As a kid, she would've believed it-- She was easily convinced and naive. But now, everything had an underlying problem, everyone had a double face. Even me.

"An... Anguis?" Forera asked hoarsely, staring at him, wiping her drippy nose with her stump hand. She needed to hear him.

She needed to know he was real.

Anguis flinched as the door slammed back, clutching his lamp as he faced whoever was coming. He was ready to fight, to scream, to kick, to bite his way to freedom if he had to. He would die trying to find his twin. Maybe she was already dead and he'd join her. That would be nice.

Every plan he had to fight dropped out of his mind though as he realized who he was facing, his face mirroring her's in shock as he took in who was before him. For a minute his heart just sang, taking in everything before him. It was Forera with all her piercings and her hair long and in a braid and for a split second of time he believed that it was a normal day, that he had been doing something and she'd barged in again to mess everything. That it was just him and Forera, the pair of them against the world.

But that image crumbled almost instantly as all the details filled in wrong. She was wearing some shirt with a symbol he couldn't place, a symbol in grey no less. Her teal had grown out in her hair, gone from her roots and the top of her hair and with a small shock of horror, he realized that she was missing a horn. The more he looked the more it felt wrong, like he was staring at a Forera through a shattered mirror. Nothing lined up correctly, they didn't mirror each other. Wrong, wrong, wrong.

Anguis flinched as she laughed, scared by the sudden sound. He brought the lamp closer to himself, his knuckles turning white as the grip on it increased. He was terrified, scared of Forera more than he was relieved to see her presence. Her crying only startled him more, driving him deeper into the kitchen. It couldn't be her, Forera didn't really... didn't really cry right? But the teals were teal as could be, a teal that he knew matched him through and through. It wasn't an impostor, it was Forera.

Guilt seared through him as he realized she was missing a hand, shame burning through him. He hadn't protected her, he hadn't done anything that would help her. Failure hissed through his mind, sharp and biting, and faintly he wondered when he had become so cowardly. Shameful, he was so shameful. What had happened to him?

"Forera? Is it.. really you?" He managed after a silence, his grip on the lamp loosening. He was still scared but it was lessened, tempered by the small hope that it was actually Forera here in front of him.

He didn't know what to do it she wasn't.

His question just made Forera giggle, wiping the snot-filled arm on her shorts and giving him the first sincere smile she'd given him since he allowed her to stay at his hive. Sniffling and letting the smile extend into a grin, the tealblood let out a hardy and loud laugh before blowing her nose into the shirt. Welp, sorry Vulpin. "Y-yeah, silly. Of cooourse it's like, me. Who else could rock this look?" She wiggled her eyebrows at the younger kid, expression brightening considerably as she placed her hand on her hip and sucked at the cut on her bottom lip. Of course it was a figure of speech-- Forera's eyes were puffy and her face was flushed teal from hew excessive crying. Now that she observed him more, he looked really tired. Has he been traveling a lot? Slowly, the tealblood walked nearer, finding it hard to all of a sudden rush over like she was used to. Not only did it feel kinda awkward, it also felt... Kinda strange. Forera rubbed her eyes from the tears again before releasing a sigh of relief, looking much older than her age.

Before long, she realized something. Her gaze lowered, grin getting smaller as she searched for the familiar white reptiles that usually attached themselves to Anguis's arms. "I-- Are Serpentmom and Dragondad like, out or something? I mean, like, I don't see 'em leaving you alooone here, but..."

For a bit there was only a muted silence from Anguis as Forera confirmed it was her, proved it almost really. It was impossible for it to not be her and a sense of relief filled him as he stared at her, took in her tears and her smile and everything in between. He had finally found her. She was home.

And then he threw the lamp he was holding at her.

Just as quickly as the relief had come was rage, was the fear and upset and anger he had been holding down come bubbling up. She was home and was safe but he had been so scared and he sobbed, backing away from her and into a corner, tears streaming violently down his face. "WHERE WERE YOU?!" He screamed, unable to contain anything to be rational like he normally was. He was tired, and he had been so scared for so long. "I HAVE BEEN LOOKING EVERYWHERE! I THOUGHT YOU WERE DEAD FORERA!" He choked out, gasping in between sobs.

"THEY TOOK DRAGONDAD AND SERPENT MOM AND I-" He broke, sinking down onto the floor, voice lowering as he just started crying. He was so, so tired. "I thought I'd be all alone." Anguis admitted in a tiny voice, pillowing his head in his arms. There was too much to take in and all he wanted now, was just some relief.

Forera barely managed to dodge the lamp when he threw it, watching the item crash to the wall near her and fall to the floor, lightbulb broken. Her eyes widened when she heard him scream at her, seeing a completely new, desperate side of her brother she never realized he had before. He was crying, practically sobbing, and Forera didn't know what to do, again, just like that time with Luxara. She felt lost and confused, listening to him scream at her, tears bubbling up again, guilt seeping deep into her body. "I—" She tried to speak, but his screaming kept going, this time about— Their lusi. Her eye twitched. "T-they're..." Her voice was small and sad, crumbling into a hollow 'oh.' She swallowed hard, watching him crying on the floor, feeling her own body tremble before her knees touched the ground, uncaring about the broken lamp shards around the area. She crawled over toward him, putting her hand on her lap, shoulders sinking. "I— I thought you were dead." She whispered, looking down at her lap and digging her nails into her skin. "I didn't... I wasn't strong enough to come back and see our hive. Alone. I didn't... I didn't have you guys. I felt--" She whimpered, voice breaking. "I felt like I'd break." Her voice was tired, broken.

After a few moments of sitting and staring at him with tears bubbling up in her eyes, the teal droplets finally fell from her eyes when she spoke again. "I'm sorry." Uncomfortable as it was to say that, when she said it, she meant it. It wasn't often that Forera apologized for something, and right now... Right now, she truly regretted not coming back. She was just... not mentally prepared. Scooting closer to the younger tealblood, she opened her arms a little, wanting to pull him into her arms. "I di-did some really stupid stuff, Angs. More than I no-normally did. I lied and s...sold out my friend. I was so, so scared and, and mad... I d-didn't want to die... I th-thought it'd help..." Her eyes fell again, shoulders hanging. She needed to get it out, or she'd never be able to pick up the pieces. "I just ******** everything over. Again."
