A derelict world where humans have almost been eradicated. The few survivors live barricaded in a strong hold.
their creations run rampant throughout the world... failed genetic expirements, mutated animals with strange powers and abilities such as psionic powers and whatnot.
The former glory of the peak of human civilization now stands silent, the towering buildings of the major cities or the world no more active than a tomb, wind howling around the skyscrapers.

On the outskirts of a large megacity stood an expansive complex. Deep within its bowels were still some signs of life. Miraculously, this building still had electricity as it was powered by its own generator. The hallways were lined with debris as the trials of time slowly started to overtake the structure. The flourescent lights flickered rapidly. As you continued into the deepest rooms of the facility you find an abandoned laboratory. The bodies of humans lay sprawled all over the room, tore apart in some violent event that had not happened long ago. Along the walls you noticecylindrical tubes made of glass... all had been broken except one. This tube was filled with a liquid and an ominous green light filled the tube. Inside a creature was floating. He was hooked up to an apparatus that enabled him to breathe in the tube. Next to this was a console. A moniter there still functioned flickering and distorted it provided a small background and details about the specimen held within the adjacent tube:Moniter This subject has been spliced together from a particularly violent prisoner, and the DNA from several types of reptilian creatures. Commissioned by the military, this expirement is ~ CLASSIFIED INFORMATION BY AUTHOURITY OF THE GREATER GOVERNMENT OF NORTH AMERICA (More info in profile in Character List thread).
The creature suddenly awakens and begins pounding against the confines of his glass prison. The pounding becomes more violent as the creature's rage grows. Suddenly he manages to shatter through. The liquid pours out of the tube. It causes the console adjacent to the tube to spark and blow up. The creatures steps out his tube ripping free of the apparatus. This violent breakaway from his life support mechanism causes a large scar to appear across the left side of his face. As he pulls together the shards of his tattered memory, he manages to remember to grab a satchel and a device that will allow him to communicate with others should the need arise. He runs around frantically searching for the way out of this facility. luckily, the expirementations conducted on him has given him enhance olfactory capabilities, so he can smell the fresh air and proceeds towards it. Finally free from his confines, he takes his first steps into a new world. He finds a a farmer's scythelying on the ground next to him. He picks it up and begins to explore the world with his newly found freedom.

Aila stumbled on a rock, falling face first onto a decaying body. She got herself up quickly and wiped the disgusting residue off her face with a face cloth she'd grabbed from her pocket - one of her few remaining posessions. She coughed and quickly put an air mask to her mouth. A tear leaked from one of her eyes. It had been days, perhaps even weeks or months, since she'd lost her last traveling companions. She never kept track of the time and fog always seemed to cover the sky, preventing her from seeing the sun or moon or stars. Now she wandered, desperately hoping that there was actually a refugee camp out there and that (Oh, please! If there is a god up there!) she was not the only living human left in this bleak world.

BANE could smell the presence of another. It saw it on the horizon. The figure was approaching him but it was still too far off to make out what it was... It was about to go see what the approaching figure was when a raccoon crossed in front of him and caught his eye. This cuased his stomach to contract and groan reminding BANE of it's hunger. On impulse he set at after the coon as he caught up to it he grabbed it by the head, crushing it, then began to rip it apart and devour it.

Sarah zipped up her flak jacket and adjusted the belt around her waist. She felt instinctively for her gun as she heard a rustle in front of her. In a flash, she pulled out her AK-47 and aimed where she thought she heard the noise from. She lowered her gun and laughed slightly as a cat walked in front of her from a charred bush.
"You're too paranoid, Sarah," came a voice in her ear.
Sarah put the gun back in its holster and lowered her head, smiling. "I know, Rick, but you can't be too careful anymore," she said to the receiver. A chuckle echoed back from the other side.
Sarah had just come to terms with facing the fact that her own race had ******** up the planet, had screwed everything up so immensely that she was afraid for what future generations might think or do. Children didn't need this, she thought, and for this refused to have a family of her own, instead dedicating her life to eradicate the beings that so polluted her home. It wasn't their fault, she knew, but letting them roam around would only cause more problems and, to be honest, they weren't the sweetest things in the world. They had to be dealt with.
Before deciding to move on, she did a personal inventory of her stock. Shotgun strapped to her back, check. Two revolvers and a semi-automatic in her belt. Check. Plenty of ammunition for all in her belt pouch. Check. Knives strapped to ankle, thigh, and belt. Noticing everything in order, she stepped off to find the next thing she might encounter: cat, or perhaps a bigger threat next time.

As BANE finished devouring the raccoon, ie tossed the bones and gristle into a pile off to its right.
Specimen 117X then stood up and started towards what remained of the city.

Chris slowly approached the city. It looked deserted, and why shouldn’t it? The humans had all been run out by her kind no doubt. Those they had created had turned against them. She involuntarily touched her arm. Memories came flying back of the brightly lit room, and the cold tables. She shook them from her memory, and continued down into the city. She was starving. She hadn’t been able to find anything to eat on the quiet road that had led her here. Surely there was something here for her to eat.

Kilala sat on the steps of The macdonalds eating a big mac she was write when she said these things could survive a nuclear explosion. God I hated these things when I was human and still do Kilala thought looking disgustedly at the burger she was stuffing into her mouth. Well a girl has to eat. Kilala thought getting up and looking for somewhere safe to have a nap

Aila cautiously stepped forward. She had seen something in the distance. She knew it was probably either a rodent or some man-made creature. Perhaps even an ex-human. Curse those scientist and factory-builders! She thought. Thanks to their over zealous researching and careless polluting, the world is now this mess that's laid out before me.

Chris passed a large building, which seemed to have been another of the many test facilities. She brushed her fingers over the silver gun that hung around her leg as she hurried past the building. Her kind wasn’t known for being nice. She was just as scared of them as she was of the humans who hunted her, yet at the same time she longed for their companionship. She was a lone, and she hated it.

Aila continued forward, hoping that what she'd seen was a human. Or at least friendly. The figure weaved in and out of her vision, passing buildings and disappearing behind bushes or piles of rubbish. Aila quickened her pace, determined to catch up with whoever or whatever she was following.

Noting that it was being followed, BANE quickened it's pace. As he made his way into to heart of the city he began making rapid movements. He went down alleyways and several different streets before finally ducking into one of the now vacant buildings.

Aila began to run after the figure as it went faster and faster. At length, it disappeared into a beat-up looking building. Aila continued to towards the building, though. Whatever it is, please let it be friendlier than it seems! She had to take chances, or she would never find anybody or anything that she needed. Finally, she reached the building. She paused, out of breath. Once she'd recovered, she hurried through the door and ran into - what was it? Flesh, a living body, she finally realized.

BANE spun around as he felt something hit him in its side. It spun with such force that its tail slammed into a nearby desk causing splinters of wood to fly.
Specimen 117X turned to see a human. All at once the memories of its creil past flashed through its mind. Emotions oh hatred, rage, and fear at once overwhelmed BANE. Its eyes dialated; its nostrils flaired. 117X let out a low gutteral gravelly hiss. Consumed with rage, BANE began to approach the human. The fact that this human was a young woman probably unrelated to its imprisonment didn't occur to 117X's primal mind. BANE was treated like a monster, and now it truly had become one, acting solely on emotion and instinct.
