Glitnir shouldn't have been out tonight, he really shouldn't have. The wounds on his arm and leg from the Luna Bay incident were healing, but the one on his leg still gave him a bit trouble. Having a giant razor petal embedded in your leg tended to leave a wound that didn't heal too quickly. Still, he was out and about, doing a shorter patrol than usual to compensate for his wounded leg. He'd have to go home and get off it soon. He was hoping to run into more allies than enemies tonight, since if any enemies found out about the wound, he would literally have a major weak spot. Fortunately, his hopes were not in vain tonight. He could feel the glimmer of a Page somewhere nearby, and he began to make his way towards the mystery Page. Hopefully he or she wouldn't mind a little patrol company tonight.

Eden was really a horrible page. She had been absent from destiny city for a while, traveling abroad trying to escape her fate, but eventually she needed to come back. Her life was here, her father was here, and you couldn't only study abroad for so long when your major was botanical sciences. But that was beside the point.
She was back, and tenuously stepping back into the realm of patrolling. Still tiny and fragile, evoking the visuals of a wobbly kneed baby deer, she had next to nothing in the way of physical intimidation, unless of course they became distracted by how completely ridiculous and impractically short her little kimono like dress was. So far that hadn't helped her one lick.
Eden had picked a route that was in a nicer part of town, known for its low crime rate, and hopefully it would stay just that way... She had only been back in town a few short weeks and really didnt want to get her butt kicked so soon.
Eden felt someone approaching, and she stilled, turning her head in that direction.. it didn't feel like chaos, so she didn't run ( which, at this point in time was her M.O. Can it kill you? Are you alone? Run. ) But at the same time she clutched her lantern, peering off into the darkness like a stranded surfer looks at dark water when he swears he sees something swimming in it, and hes not quite sure if its a dolphin or a shark.
" Um... H-hello? " She called out gently, standing in the puddle of light cast by her lantern, making her stand out like a shimmery opalescent ghost in the dark.

The Page had a lantern, which made her easier to locate. He raised one hand in greeting. "Hi there!" When he got closer to her, he continued. "Would you mind a little company? Given all the crazy stuff that's been happening recently, it's more dangerous to be alone than it ever was before." He paused, then extended his hand for a handshake. "I'm Glitnir, Squire of Mars. What about you?" He had an idea for this Page if she would let him carry it out, though he wouldn't be terribly surprised if she refused.

She watched as the Mars Squire appeared out of the dark suspiciously. He felt like an order person, his aura not giving her the *********. And he was a squire! Like batman Luxor! The thought made her relax little bit, and he was stronger then her, and obviously was bit more well informed then she. He seemed nice enough, and to be honest she really did prefer to not be alone " Oh, I don't mind " She offered him a shy smile as he offered his hand for a shake, as she extended her own much smaller hand to accept. " Very nice to meet you Glitnir, I'm Eden, of Cosmos " She still had a timid and shy smile on her face. It was so nice to meet someone who wasn't going to attack her!Sami-Fire Your going to crush my poor deerlings trust in humanity, I love it.

Glitnir became aware of how small this girl's hands were. Could he really enlist her for this experiment? She seemed so fragile and delicate. "Eden... nice to meet you. I wonder if you could help me with something?" He held up his scale as a means of indication. "Consider it something like sparring or training. This shouldn't actually hurt, but it might be kind of disorienting. I guess I should do full disclosure: I'm going to use my magic on you for a bit, and I want to see if you can break through it and attack me." He was going to feel really bad about this, he was sure. The Captain at the Chariklo rescue mission had managed to push through the magic, but he wasn't so sure Eden could. There was a full stage difference. "It'll be good experience. It's also an assignment from my ancestor on my Wonder, and I don't want to tell him I didn't do anything about it."

Eden was a little uneasy with the thought of someone using her magic on her... but Luxor had said training would help make her stronger. Sparking was training. Better to train with someone who wasn't actively trying to hurt you, rather than waiting until she encountered a real enemy. " Oh... okay. " She said with a faint unsure-but-i'll-give-it-a-shot-smile. If Eden had been a cat, her ears would have perked.
" From your wonder, like, from Glitnir the place? " Eden was oh so very curious. She has never been to Eden, but she assumed that it was there somewhere. Which raised interesting questions, but she had no idea where it was or how to get there. She wanted to ask him a bajillion questions.
That would be her reward, she told herself. She would practice and train with the so far very gentlemanly squire, and then she would grill him for answers about things she had been sorely uninformed on. Setting yourself a goal and a point afterwards was always a great way to accomplish a task.
It was just like when she told herself she couldn't garden till she finished one of her essays for college. Only this time, ya know, with magic and squires.
" Okay... so what should I do? " She asked, once again hedging into a cautious tone.

"Yes, that's right! My ancestor lives on Mars, on the courthouse called Glitnir. I've met with him a few times now. His name's Cornelius." Glitnir got into position, one hand over a scale basket. "You don't have to do anything. Just get ready for a little disorientation and try to break through it. Here goes nothing." He pressed the scale basket down now, focused on the flow of magic through him, and waited for the results. It probably wouldn't be pretty and he was feeling increasingly sure that he was going to feel terrible about this, but it would help her get used to magical attacks from enemies. Probably.

Sami-Fire Glitnir, you gone and broke my page. Eden was seriously intrigued. On Mars! How interesting, she would really like to talk to him about it more, but there was magic going on.
Eden tightened her grip on her lantern, only she wasn't sure what was supposed to happen. So she kept waiting. he poked at his lantern... and nothing happened. Eden frowned... was this the magic of her next stage? Poking at her magical item and starring at the enemy? She could do that now and it didn't help anyway. Maybe Luxor had lied to her, and the only reason he was strong was because he was a giant gladiator man. She wouldn't be able to protect anyone. She HADN'T been able to protect anyone, sense the first day she had been a knight.
Wasn't that why her lantern had appeared in the first place? So she could save that person.... only she failed... and they had died, and it had been HER fault. Because she had failed to save them. People died around her. She couldn't even keep HERSELF safe so the people she was trying to protect always ended up paying the price, with their lives or the lives of their loved ones.
She was a burden.
She was a failure.
Edens shoulders started to shake. It was like she was having one of her night terrors, that had plagued her mind sense she had awoken. Sense she had witnessed innocent people slaughtered right before her, unable to help. sense Natron had plunged his hand into her chest and grasped his fingers around her star seed, before letting her go, because she was so weak that ever her soul, her starseed, was worthless to him.
She started to hyper ventilate... this wasn't right. Why was the air so thick? And then like groggy though... this was his magic?
No, it wasn't magic, it was just her terrors taking hold of her again. But she wasn't asleep.
Her breath gasping she started to panic, and she did the only thing she could think of, with a sob, she hurled her lantern at him in the general face direction, and shut down, falling to the ground and curling over her own knees, suddenly engulfed in a puddle of rainbowy white hair, choking sobs escaping her.

"Whoa!" Glitnir took his hand off his scales and dove out of the way to avoid the flung lantern. When he stopped moving, he saw the poor wreck of a girl his magic had left in front of him. "Oh no," he said softly. He was aware of the unpleasant guilt his magic could bring, but he was unaware that it could straight-up break someone like this. Cautiously, he approached, but didn't get too close in case she lashed out. "What happened? What did it make you feel?" He had to do damage control, fast. He couldn't have a Page going home and never coming back to patrol because of him.

Huddles in her little ball on the ground, wracked by complete and utterly soul wrenching guilt she had hardly been keeping at bay as it was, she almost didn't notice when the magic subsided.
The air was suddenly a little lighter, and she could breath, but was still crying, her thin shoulders shaking and lungs trying to gulp down the air like it would clean the feeling out of her. " Guilt... for all the - sob - people I couldn't - hiccup - save. Bverything that has happened - hiccup - is my fault - hiccup - because I'm not good enough -sob - not strong enough " She uncurled just slightly titling her head to peek up at him through her hair " Was that your magic...? It was horrible. " The last part came out as a quiet whisper, and she looked up at him with big green tear filled eyes like a puppy who couldn't understand why it had just been kicked.
It hadent even dawned on her yet that she had thrown her lantern at him, she had just wanted it to stop.

"Oh, no no no," Glitnir said softly. This girl had issues, though that wasn't what he was oh-noing about. It hurt to see her so distraught. "Yes, that was my magic." The others hadn't seemed to have taken the flow of guilt so hard, which made this situation a bit curious in that respect. Investigating why she got hit so hard came second to a good debriefing. "You may have not been strong enough to save people in the past, but you can get strong enough starting now. Patrol, practice using what you can to attack and defend, and go to your Wonder. Focus on improving yourself, and someday your Wonder will reward you and make you more powerful. Just keep moving forward." Would that be enough to help her? Probably not, but maybe baby steps would be the best approach.

Eden kept watching him with big watering eyes, she wasn't sobbing, but ever few seconds her shoulders would tremble with a hiccup. The feeling of guilt was fading so slowly, but it was like a jack in the box that had been kept cramped up to long, now that it was out, it didn't want to go back in. " Its very strong " She said very quietly. She couldn't imaging anyone being able to keep fighting with that weighing down on them, but then Natron's face flashed in her mind and she imagined that he probably was incapable of guilt so maybe it would have no effect. But he kept talking, trying to coach her.
" I keep trying, and people keep dying " She was quiet, and she sounded very much afraid. Her failures weren't a delusion, and the dead were still dead, even if his magic was no longer effecting you.
" Iv'e never been to my wonder " In all honesty, it hadn't dawned on her until much later that her being a page meant that somewhere there was an actual place of power named Eden. No one had really bothered to explain the whole thing to her. Not really until she met Persephone, and even then they had chatted about it, but not everything was clear.
He sounded like Luxor, keep trying, and you'll get stronger. She kept her arms warped around herself, and she more then likely looked very small and under-qualified to keep anyone safe. She also probably looked like she needed a hug.

"Really? Hmm." Glitnir was going to have to reconsider who he used as his guinea pigs from here on out. "Just... keep going. Do you know how to get to your Wonder? You focus on your weapon, and you say your pledge to your planet and Wonder, and you'll be taken up there." He shook his head. "Feeling incompetent won't bring back the dead. If you need to, stay out of actual battles and train. Spar with your allies. Just keep going, and someday you'll be strong enough and you'll get a little reward from your Wonder." Eden looked so sad and vulnerable, and it pulled on his heartstrings. Carefully, he reached out to rub Eden's head. "Go on a quest to improve yourself."

She listened to him, like a little rainbow colored sponge, soaking up his words. Once again, it was similar to what Luxor had told her. They were stronger then her, at higher ranks, so they must know what they were talking about right?
It was that easy to get to her wonder? Why had no-one ever told her? She had simply assumed that you had to be a good page to get access to her wonder, and that's why some shiny invitation had never appeared. She hadn't event really met that many other knights to even ask, so this was the first she had heard about it.
" Sparring...? Like, at the boxing ring? " Looking at Glitnir, and remembering the few other knights she had met, Luxor, and Camelot and such, she couldn't imagine doing much to them other then swatting at them like a baby kitten swatting at a great-dane.
And then he reached down and patted her head. He petted her like a baby animal. And for some reason that was really touching and brought a small hiccup from her. God she had done a lot of crying recently, she was ready to stop crying. Stop getting people killed. Stop getting herself almost killed.
" So... just focus on my lantern... wait... " She looked around, and then she remembered, she had tried to brain him with it.
" Oh my god did I hit you! I'm so sorry!! " And she felt a little bit like crud, because she had been trying to help, and she might have whacked him with a metal lantern.

"Kind of! Just pick someone who you know can adjust to your skill level and practice dodging or blocking. Dodging might be best to start." Eden clearly wasn't the strong sort, so perhaps she could compensate by being fast. "And don't worry about the lantern. It didn't hit me, though I did have to cancel my magic when getting out of the way. Hey, it's a start, right?" It was a start, as far as Glitnir was concerned. It made him stop channeling; maybe in the future she could could be a good magic interrupter. Maybe.
