The last few days had brought a lot of rain which Hadriel wasn't a fan of. And now the sun hung in the sky and the air was thick with humidity. That was uncomfortable too but he had spent his life like this. He would deal like he always did. His eyes glanced up at the sky, he wondered if his sister Cenotaph was enjoying the sunny day regardless of the humidity. He missed her but he knew things were better this way.

Cenotaph was granted a friend by the wonderful Wishing Star. Truthfully it was the best thing that could have happened to her. But he couldn't help but feel sorry for himself. He had always taken care of her, at first it was all about her, but over time he came to depend on her. And he had to face the idea that his dependency could possibly be holding her back. So, he forced himself out of his comfort zone and left home.

Hadriel hadn't traveled to far, maybe a day's travel from his parents home. But he wasn't exactly the type to really spruce up the place. He made do for quite some time until a late night visitor stumbled into his home, literally. His name is Scarab, and Hadriel had to admit that he enjoyed the stallion's company. That night was a strange one, Scarab stumbled through some shrubs as Hadriel was starting to doze off and walked right into him. And then as he tried to leave, he kept walking into other trees and brushes so Hadriel asked him to stay until the light came.

Hadriel glanced to the side to look at Scarab. His life had changed that night, but it was for the better.

To be quite honest, Scarab had decided that he was very much done for the day, thank you very much.

He'd made an unfortunate wrong turn that had placed him much deeper into a forest that had very quickly proven itself to be far darker than he'd anticipated, and the lack of light made navigating nigh impossible--with so little sunlight to pick up on, his eyes took in the world around him as a shadowy blur, only periodically catching a glimpse of color as the branches above him had shifted to permit a sunbeam or two through. That had been more than enough to convince him that this had perhaps been a bad idea, and the tangle of brambles he'd gotten stuck in had just been icing on the cake. It hadn't taken long at all for the stallion to become completely entangled, and Scarab had been far less than thrilled about the fight that had ensued as he attempted to free himself from his thorny prison.

All things considered, by the time he'd accidentally smacked into--quite literally--another stallion, Scarab had been just about ready to turn around and hope he could find his way out on his own. Unfortunately for him, it was far later than he'd anticipated; his struggle with the local flora had eaten up more time than he'd thought, as his new acquaintance had made clear to him. The offer of staying the night hadn't come as much of a surprise, particularly when Scarab thought about how ridiculous he must've looked as he'd tried stumbling around--without the daylight to help him, he was as blind as a stone, and the fact that he'd wound up bumping into a few trees hadn't helped his case.

Scarab had settled down in what he truly hoped was a decent patch of grass (or something similar, he honestly couldn't tell at the moment regardless), awkwardly doing his best to get comfortable among what felt like damp leaves and moist sticks. He'd shut his eyes some time ago, already resigning himself to the usual blackness until morning came to bring him some semblance of vision--it wasn't really much of a problem at this point, but he did wish he could make out just where Hadriel was. The other stallion seemed nice enough, and he felt that it was almost rude not to try some form of conversation. After all, Hadriel had kept him from wandering off into who knew what. That had to count for something.

"...ah. I--don't suppose you might still be awake? If I'm--waking you up, however, I can just. Stop talking, my apologies if I did rouse you anyway--"

Hadriel wasn't far from his guest. But, he even let him have his... Not so comfortable bedding. Again, Hadriel wasn't the sprucing up type. The damp leaves cooled his burning flesh, but the sticks he could have done without. He didn't want to get to close to the stallion as they didn't know each other, not to mention the contact would bother his skin. His ears gave a twitch hearing the stallions voice, he seemed rather nervous... Hadriel understood. He was scary looking, it's part of the reason he stayed here in the deeper woods. Less horse-folk around to be scared of him. He grunted softly as he lifted his head.

He wasn't bothered by this stallion, he leaned his ears toward him. "Need something?" He rasped out from behind the mask. His voice might be rasping but it held concern for the needs of the stallion. He shifted, which would have pushed some of the bedding into Scarabs side letting him know where abouts he was. "No need to apologize." He commented, waiting to find out what the stallion needed. It was getting much later now, it would only be a several more hours until the sun started to rise.
