He'd told Anna not to expect him till late that night, assuming the nearest bus stop would still be running by the time he made it back from his trek. There was always the cab option, and he'd made sure to bring cash just in case, though paying for a cab to drive out from the outskirts back into the city was usually... a pain in the a**.

The s**t he did for a good walk in actual nature, something more expansive than the parks alone. He'd found the network of trails through a section of the outlying woods months past, and he'd taken his time getting to learn the ins and outs of the new territory. Worn boots ground into the soft soil, bare arms moving branches and underbrush as he worked his way through the trail. He'd since left the usual more beaten path for what he quickly realized looked like biking trails. These were new to him, though their worn status announced they'd predated his travels by quite a few years.

Zev paused, glancing up towards where the thick canopy blocked most of the almost mid-day sun. A loose pack sat over his shoulder, weighted by water bottles and simple snacks. And his sketchbooks and a few different, easy to travel mediums. He never knew what sort of sights he'd encounter, though he was hoping to at least run across some deer again and snap some photos with his phone. All the easier to draw later without risking them spooking on him. His boots made little sound as he pressed on, used to trying to blend into the forest much as he could. He wasn't wearing camo, and a part of him wondered if the grey tank top and dark jeans were a bit too obvious there in the forest. He might have been scaring away the natives before he'd even glimpsed them.

Least the birds were chirping away somewhere over his head.

It had been some time since Imara had first found foot prints in the tracks of the dirt bikes. At first she had thought someone was hunting on their land. But no trace of hunters ever emerged, much to her disappointment. She would have loved scaring some sense into them.

Her brothers had pegged it as teenagers behind teenagers in the woods and to leave them alone. As long as they didn't scare the deer, what did it matter?

Well it did matter to Imara. Especially as she knew the tracks to be made by one person.

The person that she sat in one of the trees watching.

Like any other hunt, it had taken patience, determination, and some luck to time being out here when the game was active. Now as the smile crossed her face, she had her prey in sight.

But he was not what she expected. He carried no visible weapon and did not appear to be handling illegal substances or whisking off women. No, the look on his face was too innocent. And he wasn't trying to hide.

Slipping out of the tree, she landed to make her presence known off to his left. The birds flew in the tree tops and a hush fell over the near by wildlife.
"Looking for something?" Imara crossed her arms under her chest. She was in a white t-shirt, jeans and boots. Her feminine frame was hidden but her face was very much a woman. "Because you have been coming onto private property quite a bit to just be lost."

The movement caught his silver eyes even before the sound, and Zev felt his body tense for a fraction of a second before it relaxed. His feet were planted far apart--loose, but a stable position ready to balance him in case of a fight. One fist was curled around his bag's shoulder strap, the other lax at his side after a quick moment of the tattoo of smoke being pulled tight over flexing muscles. A woman, out here? He glanced quickly up to the tree she'd just been in. Not typical.

She explained her ambush pretty quick though, and the pierced and tattooed muscle man shrugged. "I like to take hikes. Missed any private property signs if there are any." His voice was rough, a natural grain as opposed to any hostility however. "Just out here for some fresh air and see if I can see some wildlife. That an issue?" He'd never come across any lawns or houses out there, and had no idea how far this so-called private property went. It did explain the bike trails, he realized, that differed so much from the typical beaten paths of deer and random walkers. If it was an issue, he had no problem leaving the area, annoying though it was to have to ditch a new place to explore.

He kept a careful eye on the woman. Too used to surprises, too used to last minute punches to the gut or knives or guns being hidden under baggy shirts or in the back of waist bands, Zev's mind was already whirling over how he could get out of the area if necessary for a quick exit. The lack of bird song made him uneasy, half expecting more bodies to slip from branches, though he maintained a level expression. Vague interest, borderline bored.

She'd gotten the upper hand once already. He wasn't about to let it happen again.

There was a hint of a smile flicking at the edge of her lips. Imara was quite pleased that she had been able to get the upper hand and startle the trespasser. It was self defense if he attacked first after all.

But he did not attack, not even draw a weapon which surprised the woman. Chances of his actions being illegal then dropped. That was good. But a quick scan cleared up the chances of a hunter as well. At least a good one.

A gun would not have fit in that bag and he did not smell of bait. That was a smell one could not cover up easily. No, he seemed a bit too ornate to be a hunter anyway. The hair ad piercings were throwing her off.

"Neighbors didn't care for trespassers will be shot signs we had up." She answered with a causal shrug, never removing her eyes from him. She felt as if they were both having a stare down, one not trusting the other.

Finally, Imara broke it. "You can relax. I'm the only one out here." Waving her hand in front of her face, she tried to brush away the tension. "My father and brothers are back at the house. Though none too happy about the fact the deer in the area have been scared off recently." She huffed. "So what are you? Some sort of nature photographer or out looking for new hunting grounds?"
