The husband wanted her home more often, as did her partner but they didn’t understand that Xenosa liked to go out and hunt some dragons. She enjoyed the thrill of killing and it kept her from going insane back at home. She would concede though, to coming back home more often, but that was it. She wasn’t giving up her freedom for a man who only cared about his family name. Maybe being home more often would do her some good. Who knew. She had told Aevah that she didn’t want to fight anymore, but she had nothing to preoccupy herself with at home.

The whole situation still infuriated her.

Which was why another hunt with Keke was in order. They strangely made a good pairing, he and her and Xenosa liked him well enough. Plus she knew she could trust him like she could trust no one else. He wasn’t a backstabbing Magescian after all and that was perhaps what she liked most about him. In any case, she’d sent M’dius to him once more requesting that they meet up in their usual spot to go out hunting. Keke seemed to enjoy himself in the others they’d gone on and she really did want to get him some more Gaili orbs. It was his clan and it was a gift and it was the nice thing to do so Xenosa did it. End of story.

Now she waited on him, camp set up and she was relaxing enjoying a bit of sunshine while it was still there.

Keke had been early last time, but this time he was late, scrambling easily over rock and hill to reach her, somewhat out of breath. “So sorry!” he managed, tongue lolling in the warm mountain day, his hide nearly steaming with heat in the humidity that was typical of the mountains at this time of year. “A student got themselves in trouble, and I got them into even more trouble, and it was a huge mess!” He sat down, still panting, with an audible plop, his wings partially unfurled to release the heat from his body.

Xenosa lifted herself up partially and smiled. “No worries,” Pulling herself upright into an indian sitting position, she shielded her eyes. “It nice and toasty enough that I can somewhat get some color on my skin.” Then with a stretch she stood up. “Did you want to cool down in the river before going out to hunt? I wouldn’t mind a swim.” She didn’t really want to get dressed since she herself had sweat a bit and in leather it would do no good. She would end up being uncomfortable and twice as stinky so she was really hoping that he wanted to go for a dip.

Keke perked up, his wings flapping slightly at the idea. “Swimming? Oh yes! That would be nice!” he said. The idea hadn’t immediately occurred to him - swimming was not his forte - but the moment she had mentioned it, he had realized that it was an excellent idea.

The nearby canyon, their dragon hunting grounds, was fed by a river that cut through the stone not too far away, though the flat area Keke trotted to was not in the dragon’s territory. It had once been, by the scattered pottery fragments lying around the small depression, an Ordon village, long since abandoned by - likely killed - residents. The waters, here, expanded and swirled, slowing temporarily before rushing through the canyon, making it ideal for swimming.

Keke wasted no time galloping into the water, wings spread to give himself as much surface area as possible. “Ah! It’s cool!” He yelped delightedly as he dunked his head in briefly, shaking off the cool, crystalline droplets. He turned to wait for Xenosa, awkwardly keeping himself bobbingly afloat with his paddling paws.

It was hard to imagine what a Kheoria looked like swimming. After Keke had agreed Xenosa had become slightly worried that maybe he couldn’t swim. He was Gaili after all and she didn’t know how well he would fair in water. Though once they got there and seeing him run in and swimming about as if it was nothing relieved her. As long as he wasn’t sinking she was happy with her choice to come out here. It was nice, the water was cool and it would help with all his panting. His skin, was it called skin? Was black and she was sure the sun beat down upon him much harder than herself.

At the water's edge, Xenosa began to undress. Removing her cape and then unbuckling the corset under her clothing. She had a loose shirt under which she would use to swim in and probably leave her undergarments on once she got her boots and pants off. Free, Xenosa slowly made it into the water, enjoying the cool sensation and then dipping her head under the water. She swam under the water up to keke and then popped up for some air.

“Now this is the kind of life I enjoy.”

Keke would not call what he was doing swimming - more attempting to not sink. He could do that at least, with the help of his big wings, which he lightly flapped periodically. He watched with interest as she began to undress, but it was nothing really that interesting. Though… he wondered why magescians wore so many layers of cloth.

“So” He said, splashing around in awkward happiness, “Your message said hunting. Does that mean hunting, or…” his green eyes glittered, “that other hunting?”

The Orderite swam with ease through the water, barely making a sound as she went. Occasionally her head would fall under the water and she would disappear soundlessly only to reappear a few moments later some ways. She was like a deadly water animal, silent as the night and ready to strike if anything happened. She was a content predator at the moment though and felt no need to butcher the life out of something whose blood flowed. When he asked his question, Xenosa paused and blinked a few times. Had he just asked about... Intercourse? The thought slightly puzzled her.

“Are you talking about intercourse?” Her cheeks reddened a little and she dunk her head only half way into the water to hide her cheeks but breath through her nose.

“Intercourse?” Keke tilted his head at her. “Oh, mating? No?” he seemed very surprised - clearly it was the furthest thing from his mind. Actually, it occurred to him, he rarely thought about it at all. “Why would I mean… ohhhh, is ‘hunt’ a euphemism?” He had always thought that saying one thing and then meaning something completely different was a fascinating - and wholly Magescian invention, one he had never actually encountered before. “For mating? I suppose it is a hunt, at least, that is what I’ve been told.” He mimicked her action, dunking his head under the water again - it was so nice! “No, I meant the… other thing. The thing we did last time. The secret thing!” He had an almost puppy like expression on his face, now. That had been such an exciting time! He hoped that she wanted to do that again - it was so much more interesting and suspenseful than dragon hunting…

Mating sounded so much worst than intercourse. Of by the goddess, Xenosa reddened a bit more. Still, she had to answer him. “I suppose you could say that. I don’t mate with my husband,” she tried to use the word he had so that he understood. It felt odd. “So I wouldn’t really know if it is a hunt or not, though I suppose it can be for a Khehora?” Xenosa was quite happy to learn that that’s not what he had meant at all. “Well I need to return home for a bit, maybe a day or two, and then I’ll be out hunting.” Then Xen fell into deep thought. “Have you ever been to Serenia?”

Wait, but a husband was a mate… ah, but she explained that it was… different? At some point, Keke knew, he would have to clarify that point. It sounded political, one of the fascinating and byzantine things that Magescians did. Magescians were so intriguing! It would be a treat to see them mate - a very fascinating biological observation. How did they do it with all those layers on?

“I wouldn’t know! I’ve never been courted.” Or, he had never been courted in a way he understood. He knew he could be oblivious. “But, again…” he fluttered his wings, splashing their tops with the cool water, “That is what I’ve heard…”

His tail swished suddenly in excitement, sending a small wave of water Xenosa’s way. “Serenia? No! Oh, my… I’d love to go there!” He looked at her with big, green, puppy-dog eyes. “I’d like to go someday, oh yes I would!” Then he realized that he might have spoken too soon. “Er.” he began, abashedly, “Are you offering? You were offering, right? Oh dear…” he flicked his tongue at her, “Well, I mean… Yes. I’d like to go to Serenia. If you were offering.”
PostPosted: Sun Jun 21, 2015 11:51 am

“Well usually the male is the one that courts the female?” Xenosa offered feebly. She’d been courted a few times, but most of those experiences were from missions where she had to seduce someone. They weren’t genuine experiences. It was all fake like her husband's courtship. It didn’t matter now, Xenosa didn’t want to hold grudges anymore, they were so tiresome.

Xenosa began to laugh, a hearty laugh at Keke’s reply. “Yes of course I am offering, I think it would be a good experience for you. No one would bother you because you would be with me.” So it was decided. They would return to her home after this hunt. “We should get on to hunting. Swimming is fun, but so is hunting.” Xenosa swam back to the bank and grabbed her clothing from where she’d left them. she couldn’t put them on yet, so she would need to dry a bit before they moved on.

Kekeovonnai made a very un-khehora squeak of delight. “Oh! Oh! Wonderful!” He positively wriggled his way to the water's edge and hauled himself out of the water, clearly unable to stay still as he shook himself off, inadvertently getting Xenosa a little more wet in the process. “It’s going to be so exciting!” he continued to chirp, “I’ll get to see a city ~ And I’ll get to see how Magescians live ~ And I’ll get to see all the wildlife ~ and plants - oh the plants that must be there ~ and rock formations ~ Aaaa, I’m so excited!” he squealed, giving Xenosa a happy head nudge, too childishly delighted to care about silly things like personal space. He tried to restrain himself, he really did, but even after doing some breathing exercises, he could hardly hold still, shifting from paw to paw as he waited for her to get dressed, purring to himself at the very thought of adventure. “Will we go by boat? Or fly?” he asked.
PostPosted: Sun Jun 21, 2015 11:54 am

“Flying would be faster.” The Orderite had never seen Keke so happy, at anything, ever. It was pretty entertaining to watch him actually and she didn’t mind the head bump at all. She was happy he was happy. Now though, it was time to get to business. Xenosa waited until she was a bit more dry and began to dress, she checked all of her weaponry and then rechecked and secured them once more. Once could never be too careful.

“Think you can hunt us some dragons?” She gave Keke a smile. He was the Gaili after all, he would be able to sniff some out in no time.

Flying would be fine - he could do it, and he could go fishing, and swim, and explore the islands on the way… oh, but boats... he and Vazarri had sailed to Soldul long ago, and he had loved the boat ride, even if he had gotten horribly seasick from the rocking and from being so disconnected from his element… it had been fun. He had decided that it was fun. No one could convince him otherwise. (It had not been fun)

Oh, yes, right, dragons! Dragons were not nearly as exciting as the prospect of adventure, but they were exciting too. “Yes!” he said, sniffing the air, tilting his head to the side, as if listening. In truth, he was listening with his feet and his magic. “Oh!” he said, surprised, “That’s new! I didn’t realize they had gone into that cave system! They must have just moved in!” He stood, his tail still wiggling with excitement, “I’ll take you there!”

He trotted ahead, making a beeline to the trail that led to the caverns. They were beautiful places, full of dripping spires and pure white limestone. They also hid veins of metals and gems that sang to Keke’s senses, as well as salt. If Magescians knew about this cave, they would mine it, but they did not and so it was pristine, the metals lining the walls with a dully shimmering marbling. It was well known to his tribe, though, and Keke loved it.

He peered into the dark mouth of the cave, hidden behind rocky crags, and sniffed. “Yes, they must have just moved in! Their scent isn’t so prevalent here, and they haven’t changed anything yet…” he hopped down the slight ledge and waited by the hole in the earth for Xenosa to follow.
