'Fiona, darling hurry up! We need to meet your father in the clearing'
My parents. You. They're dead. You killed them. Monster. You... you monster.
'Azoth. My Azoth.'

The fragile mare awoke with a start, her eyes, large and bloodshot, darted around the cave room that had been her prison for... she didn't know how long anymore. She was alone. The latest mare that had shared the small space with her had been dragged out earlier. Fiona did not expect her to come back. None of the others ever did. She shivered and coughed violently. The force of her hacking sent the sparse hay of her bed flying away from her and she stared down at the cold stone ground morosely. How much longer would she be held captive? What did her captor... that monster... have to gain from keeping her here? She knew there were others. Not all of the inhabitants of this cave system were prisoners like her. There were guards and other monsters. She saw them pass through sometimes. She did her best to blend into the cave walls when they walked by. They, like their leader, were vicious. Though, weren't all pure Kalona rotten to the core? Fiona briefly thought back on her parents warning her about Skinwalkers and Kalona. She had never thought she'd encounter either in her peaceful little neck of the woods. But no, she had encountered both. On that fateful and unforgettable day. The day that a skinwalker had massacred their entire herd with the help of the monstrous Kalona that had taken her. Originally, she had thought it was just the skinwalker's doing. Her captor was quick to brag that, no, it was all his idea. And that Fiona should be thanking him for saving her. For selecting a choice few to live and serve him. Fiona frowned, recalling the awful day. That moment when she had naively followed him away from the carnage... towards what she thought would be safety. But no... instead, she had followed him to hell.
