Irro was back in Jatine where she almost belonged; treasureless and scrabling at nits of information. So the treasure was here was it? And how long had she been here already and not found it? Some treasure hunter she was going to make.
A mutter interrupted her thoughts, "Its happening, the cresents have started." "Why they are probably about finished by now." "Do you think the treasured one will bring forth all that was proffesized?" "If their faith was great enough after all, a treasure like that only comes along once in a lifetime, Ubeli is a most blessed goddess."
Ubeli...the temple..the cresents. She should go there apparently something to do with the treasure was going on. A blessing of it perhaps from the words. Still she wasn't here to steal it just to see it for herself that had been her goal. There would be plenty of collectable small things later.

Qoraekai walked through the streets of Jatine, his heart full of distress and disappointment and yet also relief. He ached, at least his hands ached, they had wrapped them, sure but that didn't do anything for the pain. Had he messed something up? Had the two baths messed up the ritual? There was really no telling, but after waiting six hours to see if his pigment would return, the Crescents had had it with him. Something had messed up and they were certain it was him. They had the wrong person. It didn't take them long to throw him a small bag and kick him out of the faction in the heat of the day. The walk to Jatine wasn't that long but it was agonizing in the heat. Not only the heat from the sun, but also the heat from having his cloak on and hood up. Sweat seeped through the dark fabric and he knew he would need to find some water soon. He stopped at a vendor and gave him a few of his already low amount of coins in exchange for a water skin. Qora knew he should ration it, he didn't have that much money and now he had nowhere to go. But he wasn't accustomed to doing so and quickly the water skin was half gone. At least he felt somewhat better. Now he would need to find somewhere to stay or go. His eyes swept around his surroundings before the object that stuck out like a sore thumb, (or hands in his case) found his attention. He smiled and made his way over to the obviously not Oban Irro. "Well I never thought I'd see you again." He said smoothly.

Irro froze at that voice, the one that occasionally haunted her dreams, she had never heard another quite like it, unique like the man it belonged to. She turned, "Well neither did I, but I'm kind of glad it happened." Then she took in his appearance, not exactly perky and wrapped hands faintly pink with blood. "Wha...happened...oh. OH. Your the treasure they were talking about all along, the ritual. Are you okay?" She wanted to reach out for his hands to inspect them but well they didn't know each other that well. Then her brain slowly started turning. He was the treasure, there was no gold, and for being a treasure they had hurt him and that was totally unfair! She clenched her teeth half a mind to go and dump a big bucket of water on the cresents...salt water may it sting their eyes. "They did that didn't they." She didn't voice it as a question but a fierce scowl darkened her face.

Qora's smile stayed on his face, at least until she pieced her mystery together. His smile faltered then fell. His wrapped hands pulled his hood over his head more, as if he wasn't concealed as much as he could be. He looked away from her. While he had been glad to see her, he had known she was searching for a treasure, he just hadn't known it had been him. What did she feel now that she knew it was him? Was she disappointed in him? Disappointed that her search was for some stupid boy who wasn't even special at all? His face remained turned away even after she stated her question. It was obvious wasn't it? To her. What about all the other people around them? Did they know? What could he say? What was there to say? "I'm sorry your treasure isn't much of a treasure. But there's a back entrance near the armory. You might be able to get in and get some stuff to sell." She probably didn't want anything else with him now. He had nothing to offer after all, he was homeless, possession-less, poor. The shock of the ritual not working took more than its tole on the supposed prophesied boy. He misread everything she said and turned away. "Goodluck. I hope you find some kind of treasure here." He said, the sadness and slight anger in his voice was clear as he began to walk away.

His smile really was beautiful and she was sad to see it go. He seemed hurt, retractive, not like the boy in the pool at all. Well here went nothing she couldn't resist anymore. She reached out a delicate mottled hand and touched his shoulder. "Not every treasure is monetary," Her heart squeezed for him. She drew a deep breath. "They should be ashamed treating you as they did. You are a person and deserving of much more." She reached for his hands gently and inspected what she could see, they seemed to have stopped bleeding but they probably hurt like hell. "I have some numbing salve for these if you like. Do you have anywhere to go?" He probably had nothing now, from the look on his face. "Come with me Qora, you are not alone. I know what its like, maybe not quite like you but I have been in a similar situation." She hugged him gently, bringing the lean muscled body close. Her heart was breaking and she was desperately trying to fill in the holes. "Come." She said gently and looped her arm through his so she did not disturb his hands. He was hurt, torn and needed to be put back together. She could try. She would take him back to her flat put the salve on and then see where to go from there, maybe out of Jatine...maybe out of Oba she didn't know.

He couldn't help but pause as she wouldn't let him leave. His heart quenched a little as she said she didn't see all treasures having a monetary value. But who would want a treasure that wasn't worth anything? Her touch was a comfort in its own way, and even though she tried to be gentle, he pulled his hands away. Why, why would she want to do this? It was hard to resist, though, her touch and words were such a comfort. This was the reason he let her take his arm and bring him close, the exposed skin already feeling the burn of the sun. He had none of the mixture with him. He thought they had perhaps put some in his bag but there hadn't been any. What was he doing? He couldn't just throw all his problems on this poor girl. "Irro, I can't do this to you. Why would you want to do this?" He asked. Qora didn't think this was how the world was supposed to work.

"Hey," she said sternly, "You are doing nothing to me, we have to stick together, and I would do this for any one of my friends a hundred times over." The male must be out of his mind, maybe he should put a hat on. She herself having just gotten back from a trip in the desert was covered head to toe. She would have to send word to Dovev that she would not be meeting him later and he was free to do as he wished along with some more pay that she would send. Ugh. "Its not far Qora and we need to get out of the sun, I've been out all day and I feel a bit crispy don't you?" She steered them toward her little cubby hole by one of the large pools of water. "I want to do this, in the same situation you would probably do it for me. Now get thee inside so you can figure stuff out a bit more laddie."

Qoraekai knew she was right, she made sense, yet at the same time he felt like a burden. But, if she really wanted to, Ubeli knew he needed the help. He sighed and let her drag him along beside her. It was pretty hot and being inside somewhere sure would be nice. "You're right. Alright, I'll come with you." It was weird letting someone else take care of him, well, that wasn't the weird part it was that it was someone he didn't know very well. Okay, that wasn't it either, she wasn't a part of the faction and therefore had not reason to help him. Granted...when they had met, there had been an instant attraction. Perhaps that was why? She was still exquisite, the slight burn and all. He was glad that he had found her here and she was still as amazing as she had seemed that one night.

Irro bit her lip to hide her smile. Now at least something could be done about him. She had been deeply afraid that he would shuck her off like so much husk and leave her alone to worry over him. She hated that feeling, alone with ones thoughts about how others saw one much better to keep busy and stay moving forward. Once she got him up into her tiny apartment her mind tried to drift to the prophecy and how perhaps Serin the shifter moon goddess at least made all her children look alike but she brushed it away and got the salve. It was a shock in a way to see him here, he looked so much bigger now in the small room glowing faintly in the darkness. She plunked the salve down and got them both big glasses of water. She gently unpeeled his hands which were at least clean, the monks evidently not wanting him to catch any sort of infection. She saw the shape of the wounds but didn't say anything about them, preferring instead to stop the horrible sting and burn which she knew he must be feeling. She slathered each red incision liberally with the thick soothing salve. "I don't know what I would have done without this wonderful stuff, the desert holds many medicinal miracles but this one is by far my favorite." She wrapped his hands up again and smiled at him. "There. I hope that feels better?"

Qoraekai smiled slightly as he allowed himself to be lead to a small apartment. It was rather small, but it was a place. Irro seemed to be doing well since coming to Oba. He remembered their first and only other meeting besides today, it was when she had first come to Oba and the sun was punishing her for it. But at least she had found her place here, that was a small comfort to him. She was like a gem in this muted scenery, no doubt she could make a living here on her looks alone. Once inside, she took the bandages off of his hands. He noted she didn't say anything about the shape, but given the people who he had been with, it probably didn't need any explanation. While the salve was lathered onto his wounds and the numbing was extraordinary, it was the water that held his gaze. Once his hands were wrapped up, he took the water but sipped it slowly this time, savoring. "It does feel better, thank you. That salve is wonderful stuff. Especially for people like us in a place like this." His smile came back easily now that there was no pain. He took his cloak off and hung it on the back of his chair, clearly way more relaxed than he had been mere moments ago.

"Indeed," she sipped her water meditatively, relieved that he was out of physical pain at least and safe from anyone who might do something untoward. She kept quiet for a bit, letting him relax while she wondered what to do. She filled their glasses again and came back. "Well it has certainly been a busy day. Your welcome to sleep on the couch if you want." "Beyond that you might want to think of a game plan for the future." Now that she had found him and he was the treasure, she should go home see her family and start looking for smaller inanimate collectable treasures. Maybe go north so she could wear furs again, who knew where her wandering feet would take her but hopefully wherever that was it would have more shade. But first make sure Qora was stable enough to find his own way, she could handle a room mate for a while, if he chose not to then she could leave earlier. She had wanted to see matori before she left that was an idea too, but home for some reason sang a stronger siren call.

He nodded as she spoke, sipping his water as she was. It was a relief to his dehydrated body and to his mind as something as normal as sipping on some water helped ease some of the anxiety that had built up. Irro was right yet again, he had to figure out what in the world he was going to do with himself and that was not an easy question. He had never had much thought of what he would do after. Sure there was always the possibility of the ritual failing, but it wasn't until last night that he had actually worried about it. And as such, he'd never thought of what he would do if it did. Qora smoothed his hair to one side and fiddled with his necklace. What would he do? He was skilled with some weapons but he couldn't even watch the perzi be sacrificed how would he be able to kill someone or something? "I appreciate your hospitality. And if my presence wouldn't be a burden I would be grateful. As for the future. I've never really considered it...What do you plan on doing?" He asked curiously.

"Well I did have plans on visiting Matori but I feel like I should go home first and check on everyone, maybe pursue some of the local or more northern tales. I think I need a bit of a break from the hot and dry and sandy." She paused for a bit, "Its shadier in tendaji, you might like it yourself if you had any inclination to visit." He might even be able to blend in with the wind people, they were pale and fair haired. Not quite as beautiful as he himself was though. "But yes I want to see my mother and father again, feel the spirits of home." It was hard to explain that feeling. Especially to someone who had spent most of their life in one place. Or at least she thought he had. "I should bring some Oban stuff with me, besides the little hoard I have collected. " She gestured at a pile of glass shards, small pottery and other beloved knicknacks. "I tried to find the true Oban things not imported items."

Qoraekai listened intently and allowed her to talk, she had a very nice voice so it was easy to do so. So Tendaji was shadier was it? Well, he had learned that their boarders had a lot more trees and less sun would definitely be good on his skin. He smiled slightly as she mentioned going to see her parents. That was probably something he'd never be able to do again. The way they looked at him when he didn't change pigment was seared into the back of his mind. They had become a much bigger part of the faction than he had thought and it was disheartening to have his own parents look at him in such a way. After all, they were the ones who did that to him. "So Tendaji is shadier?..." He thought on things for a few moments, sipping his water carefully and savoring each sip as he thought. "You know you could carry more Oban stuff with more than one person traveling." He said with a small smile in his not so subtle way of asking if he could accompany her.

Irro's mouth quirked, the veiled request hadn't got past her. "Of course you would be welcome to come with me. Maybe something interesting will pop up on the way home." Looks like she might be renting two mounts for the way home. Xaraan would work, speed was what was needed here and with all the caravans going back and forth they would have no trouble finding people from tendaji to ride them back into oba. She calculated in her head and decided she had more then enough capital to handle food, water and mounts for two on the way home. She had been prepared to stay longer in Oba and had such not sold the really good stuff. Oba had been good to her..except for the sun. Maybe she would stay in Zena for a while at some point, no need of sunburn cream there, or even Jahaur with the rain would be nice. OOhh she missed rain. The closest thing they had here was a fountain and that in blazing sun just didn't have the same feel.
