A messenger had been sent to Teiluj the moment the healer heard V'demhe say the hybrid's name. She was unsure if they were mates or friends or perhaps even family so she thought it best to let the girl know about the Alkidike that was currently laid up in her hut. Since Dem was resting, albeit fitfully, the healer was outside mixing up salves to restock what she'd used and Maha was laying beside his owner keeping watch. He wasn't about to let anyone come near to cause her more harm. The radaku had grown used to a few coming in to check the wounds but if they wielded anything that could be considered a weapon he became defensive. V'demhe still had a fever but thankfully it wasn't as high as it had been before. Her body shivered as air touched the layer of sweat that coated her. The two wounds she had on her side and back still looked angry and puckered but the bleeding had been stopped and the skin stitched together. All she needed now was rest and something to take the pain away as well as fight off the infection that plagued her. "The baby.... Maha.." She mumbled in her sleep.

When the messenger had arrived at her house there had been a huge commotion from some of the Radaku followed by several irritated squawks from Starline. The worst had been when Kakkara the newly named Janarim had the shifter pinned against the walls of the house, until Teiluj had come out to investigate. The message had been jumbled and confusing. An Alkidike wanted her attention? She had become accustomed to the strange look she received when others came to her for aid and was able to just shrug it off as their own ignorance. It had only taken Teiluj a few moments to gather up her books, salves, and other healing materials and to notify Nkole she was heading out. Starline was already saddled up from the morning flight and mounting the large Kinfa was an easy task now. Tao had insisted on following along just in case while Kakkara stayed behind. Following the instructions into the hut Teiluj gasped. First worry then anger. What was V'demhe doing here of all places!? And that had happened to her. Irritated Teiluj closed the distance between then and searched her body for wounds. The smell of the infection was enough to make the hybrid's nose curl. Reaching into her bag Teiluj produced a vial of pungent liquid. "V'demhe, what happened." Teiluj muttered as she brought the vial up to the Alkidikes lips.

When Teiluj first came into the hut Maha got up and growled rather loudly. He didn't want more strangers coming and poking at his owner. Still, he noted that the woman had no weapon in her hands so he sat back down but never let his eyes leave her. When he heard his mother's name called his ears perked and the radaku tilted his head slightly. The Alkidike on the bed gave a groan and she moved her head toward the voice she heard. "Tei...." Fever was still keeping her disoriented. "baby..." When she felt something touch her lips she opened her eyes and stared at the hybrid. The wounds that held the infection were covered by bandages along her left side. One was a simple slice into the flesh but the other one was a gash that went from hip to shoulder blade. Both were sewn shut.

Teiluj glanced at the Radaku but ultimately shrugged it off. She grew up around Radaku, and knew them better than she knew herself. Not that she knew this radaku in particular or they way it thought, it was more that she didn't fear them. When her voice was spoken Teiluj stopped moving to look at her. Was she awake? Either way, Teiluj turned her wrist and hoped V'demhe would be able to drink the fluid. She had to numb the girls pain first, from there attempt to rid her body of the infection before working on the wounds on her body. Baby? Teiluj thought as she searched the Alkidikes face. Did V'demhe approach Aisha for a child already? Or was the youngling a sibling? Friend? "I need you to drink this V'demhe." Teiluj muttered mentally taking note of where the various visible wounds were located. "The way I heal is a bit painful and this will help you endure it."

"Protect.. baby.." Dem was still out of it due to the fever that she wasn't coherent. However, in her mind she was making perfect sense. As Teiluj told her to drink it took the Alkidike a moment to register that there was liquid to be had in the thing pressed to her lips. V'demhe nodded her head as best as she could and drank. With that done, and her taste buds not liking what had passed over them, she tried to sit up. "Little V'demhe.." Dem winced as the movement pulled at her sutures. Eventually her arms gave out and she was back to laying down. Her eyes slowly closed and she did her best to fight through the fog of fatigue and infection. "Hybrid child.. keep her safe.." V'demhe continued to mumble things.

"What baby?" Teiluj muttered quietly as she watched her friend drink the potion. Good at least now she would be a little numb against the pain that would follow. Cringing Teiluj unhooked the top of her small bag as she opened her hand. Slowly coaxing the book out with her magic. It floated in the air, pages turned in a whooshing motion before settling on a rather complex spell. She had been practicing this one for a while, and was a bit nervous on the execution. It was a spell to pull out toxins from someone's body. Groaning Teiluj pressed the index finger of her free hand into the more sever looking wound. Chanting as she pressed a little more, she could feel the toxins flowing towards her finger and pooling where she was touching. Grumbling to herself about stupid healers closing wounds when they were obviously infected. Doing that would only make the situation worse for the person. Gritting her teeth as the book clattered to the floor. Her concentration had been broken, blasted Kinfa, reaching into her bag again for her tiny knife Teiluj re-opened Dem's wounds to let the infection drain. "Stupid healers..." Teiluj muttered with irritation. Usually not one to curse people she was in that mood today, and a good thing she was there for Dem, she thought to herself.

The Alkidike was breathing raggedly as she tried to make sense of what was going on. It wasn't until she felt pressure on her wound that she made another sound. This one a grunt as her back tensed. "I saved a baby, Teiluj. I saved a hybrid baby." V'demhe was trying to keep her thoughts straight as pain started to come again. "She was beautiful." And then her friend opened her wounds again and she called out. Dem hadn't been expecting that. Maha growled at Teiluj and watched her a bit more closely. "Tei.." She whined. Her body wanted to pull away from Teiluj but she was forcing it not to. In her mind she knew her friend wouldn't hurt her. Not intentionally. It must be something that needed done. "They named her after me.." While she was forming whole statements now she was still speaking in broken sentences. Her head rolled to the side and she did her best to look at Tei. "Am I worth it, Teiluj..?" Tears formed but she wasn't sure if it was emotion or pain that caused them.

Teiluj focused on pulling the toxins from V'demhe's body, she was aware the Alkidike was talking and there was a twinge of annoyance the worked it's way at Teiluj in what dem was saying. As if the heritage of the baby mattered, should she be proud of V'demhe for this? Was this the reason they were in this situation to begin with. The emotions Teiluj felt at what V'demhe was saying were to complex for the hybrid to desire dealing with for now. Finally draining the toxin from one wound Teiluj set to repeating the task on the second one. Coming to the conclusion that it was fever talking and not V'demhe. Her eyes snapping away from the work on the wound to look back at Dem. "Why would you ask such a question of me. Me of all people..." She stared at V'demhe a moment before sighing and turning back to tending to her friends injuries. "Worth what? The sun in your smile? A lot. The naive air you bring? Of course, because it's refreshing." She could feel the swell of the toxin forming. "The heart you have inside? More than you know." Her face flushed brightly before she cleared her throat and for the first time seemed to have a look of irritation about her. "Why are you even asking me this!? You're a pure blooded Alkidike an amazon of the forest!" Pop, the liquid was draining out of the other wound and Teiluj struggled to keep her stomach from joining the pungent liquid on the floor.

The fever kept her panting and sweating but she smiled. All V'demhe heard from Teiluj's answer was "Yes." Her eyes went past the hybrid's face to the ceiling and she became unfocused. Eventually she let herself lay down, muscles still protesting at what it was Teiluj was doing. "I want her to be proud of me, to have my name." Lulling her head a bit she'd let her eyes drift close. Dem shivered from the cool air touching her moist skin then gave a grunt of pain as more of the infection was drawn out. Had she more strength she might have fought but she was too exhausted to do too much more than she was managing now. "You hate me because of what I am, Tei..?" Her mind was picking things out of the conversation and twisting them. "Pureblood.."

Teiluj gave a soft glance to Dem at her last words. Hate her? Never, V'demhe was her friend her heritage didn't mean anything more to her than Nkoles did. It just make her who she was... not to mention even thinking of hating V'demhe because she was a pureblood would be like saying her own mother was detestable. And that just wasn't true. "Oh V'demhe." Teiluj muttered bringing her hand to brush at some of V'demhe's dreads. "I could never hate you, and certianly not for what you are. You're unique for who you are and I adore that you are exactly, you." Closing her eyes Teiluj had to block the rest of V'demhe's speaking out pressing her fingers against the wound she hybrid struggled to pull at the magic within herself a thick salve like substance was slowly making it's way across V'demhe's wounds but not fast enough for Teilujs liking.

When her hair was messed with she opened her eyes weakly and stared at the wall. Her name echoed in her mind. Was someone called for her? "I disobeyed them... am hated.. Maha.." More tears slid from her eyes as she thought about what that meant. The salve that covered her wounds made her flinch slightly but that was all she did. Eventually her mind pulled her under and she closed her eyes so that she could rest. Not that her body would get any true sleep since the fever kept her restless.

Teiluj flinched at the mention of being hated. If anyone was hated it was herself, not V'demhe. How could someone hate a caring individual like her who seemed to see past the outward shell she held. "You're not hated V'demhe." Teiluj muttered, wondering if perhaps that was why she hadn't seen the Alkidike recently. Leaning back slightly, Teiluj hummed softly to herself. There was little that she would be able to do until V'demhe awoke. Yellow eyes settled on the Radaku, where had she managed to find one of those?

Maha was still young though not quite a pup. When Teiluj looked at him he sniffed in her general direction. The radaku wanted to know who this girl was. However, his inspection was short lived as V'demhe started to murmur in her sleep. Instantly he went to nuzzle his nose close to her neck and attempt to wake her. The cold nose that touched her caused Dem to suck in a breath before she opened her eyes and stared blankly at the wall of the hut. As the nose touched her again she shifted slightly and did her best to reach up to pet her familiar. "Easy Maha.. Teiluj is good."

Teiluj stared at the pair with shock. Good might not have been the appropriate word she would have picked but it was V'demhe. Her breath slowly worked it's way out of her body as she relaxed. Grateful that her magic had helped pull V'demhe out of the fevered state she was in. "What did you go and get yourself into V'demhe? You didn't go running off after the Dretch for something did you?"

Hearing her friend speak she moved her gaze toward the hybrid and smiled. She was still feverish but the delirium was waning. V'demhe could form whole thoughts and even place things on a time line within her mind. "No. I was asked by the elders to deliver a baby to her sick mother." She drew her brows together, thinking still seemed a bit disorienting. Dem grunted as she attempted to sit up. A task she wouldn't accomplish without help. "When I got there the leader demanded the baby be handed over and disposed of." She winced with the effort but motioned to her wounds. "I disagreed."
