Azarath Metrion Zinthos; a young mer who was princess in the small herd underwater. Her mother and father were caring, loving and gentle to her. She lived in the highest cave in an underwater cliff face, and it gave her a full view of the small coral reef they had called their own. Her eyes flickered around her small room; decorated with bright coral and fish that were all too happy to swim around her and give her plenty of company. She liked them, often times playing with them and blowing bubbles. But today something bothered her. Not only was she asked to sit with another possible suitor, but she was coming to the point that she thought her life was nothing more than one mer after another. She swam over toward the cave entrance, sighing lightly and stopping to float there where she could stare out over the reef. Her head tilted to the side, causing her bangs to float slightly near her ears, before she caught sight of something.

A commotion was happening down in the reef. Something was moving and causing a disturbance. Many fish and sea slugs were moving quickly out of the way. Azarath narrowed her eyes slightly, squinting to try and see better. She couldn't make out what was going on though. After pondering just ignoring it, she swam out from the cave, and started to move down toward the reef, her tail beating lightly behind her. But when she started to get close enough to make it out, she felt someone grab her. Another Mer, a guard, shook his head and quickly tried to usher her back, saying it wasn't safe for her to go down there at this time. Something about a criminal being brought in for them to interrogate and find out where the rest of their "gang" was. Azarath frowned at that, and peeked over his fins to try and see who it was.

The one they were bringing in was interesting at the very least. His fur seemed to be an off white, with a blue sheen to it. His hair was the color of deep water, and his fins reminded her of coral. It actually made her smile to think of that, and she quickly hid it when the guard glanced at her and tried to usher her back again. She frowned some and ducked under him, swimming forward a bit more to tilt her head. Why was he wanted? He didn't seem so bad.... And then she noted the accessories, gold accents decorating his body. And her eyes fell upon the weapon. She stared for several moments, then glanced at the guard. The best she could do was sneak in later when he was locked away to try and figure out just what he had done to deserve this.

Syn had slipped into the bustling reef, full of life and color, if he was careful he wouldn't attract too much attention to himself in his "buisness" trip. He had good information that a fat little seathi with too much weath and time on his hooves had information he needed in order to get into the heavily guarded caves. It was risky, but he lived for the thrill. Slipping through bustling markets and alleys and into more questionable bits of town where the water was murky and the plants dark. He slipped into shadows and moments later was masked in a dark cloak, diluting his bright colors.

With his information in hand and a few less jewels in his pouch he made his way back through the bustling streets toward the cliff. Apparently there was a small opening near the base, hidden by the dense growth of seaweed, grass, ferns, and other various foliage. At the edge of the plant growth he discarded his cloak, deeming it unsavory and bulky for moving through the dense forest.

Moving through the forest was the easy part, though at times disorienting. Nothing looked different, all around him was a wall of green. When he needed to get his bearings he swam to the top to peer in the direction he needed to go and continue on. When finally he made it to the wall it took him forever to find the crumbling section the over stuffed seathi had told him about...and he was met with three glaring guards. "Ah...Hello boys! I seem to have lost my way. I'll just be going."

A dark stallion with rune markings and a wicked looking staff shook his head. "Don't think so mate, we've been watching you for a while. 'Fraid you'll be coming with us." Durring his speech he had been drifting away but they had noticed and fanned out around him, so when they lunged for him and he spun to get away, the big guy with the stallion put the spear through his tail fin and the others blocked his path, shackling him. The pain in his fin throbbed through him, but it just fueled his anger. He had plenty of holes in his fins, why not another one. Of course he struggled and fought against them as they dragged him to the entrance. How could he have been so stupid to trust that seathi or to not cover his tracks better? Hadn't he been doing this long enough? Where had his senses gone? A chill went down his spine at the thought and he happened to look up. He stopped his struggling just long enough to see the creature slipping from the tallest tower, noting how she kept glancing his way. He smirked lightly to himself. She was curious.

Azarath wasn't the most able bodied mare. She often was kept in the tower, watching and waiting. She didn't like to be quiet and sit around. Most the time, she surged forward and poked around in the reefs; but of course often got caught sneaking around. And what really upset her is that she was often pulled out and sent back to her tower to study and practice her etiquette and future rulings. It bothered her, honestly. She was never able to really settle into herself; never able to have a foal hood. And as much as that bothered her, she surged through; she continued to push forward and sneak around and meet with the reef dwellers. They were always so nice to her and offered her so many things; enough that it made her excitable and just want to come out more.

So when she watched this stallion getting pulled away from the reefs and toward the entrance of the caves that held their prisoners. She had always detested that part of their small kingdom. It made her sad, thinking that they couldn't talk things over and work them out without the need to lock people up. Without giving them a chance to plead their case and get out of the cells. It made her heart ache, honestly. She was a sweet mer, and such things made her want to snap and flare up against her parents and the guards. So she watched, and waited quietly as they dragged the stallion into the main passage and pushed him farther into the caves than she could see. After a moments hesitation, she sighed and nodded toward the guard. Azarath swam back up to the small balcony, before slipping into her room. She waited a few heart beats, before making her move.

The young princess moved out from her room, and through the many halls dug into the cliff face. She ducked around corners and dipped into rooms to hide when guards swam by. Thankfully her parents were busy in the main hall, helping other sea folks with their problems. So she didn't have to worry about bumping into one of them. It took her longer than she expected to get down into the dungeon that held their prisoners. Her ears pinned back for a moment, glancing around with hesitant eyes before she slipped into the long hall. As soon as she was within sight, she saw the rows of barred doors and small cells. Some stallions looked up at her arrival, and seemed to chuckle and cat call toward her, which made her grimace. But after a second, she held her head high, and swam down the line, careful to stay out of reach from their reaching hooves. She eventually made her way to the last cell on the left, and peered in toward the stallion that had just recently been dropped off there. She stared for several seconds, before clearing her throat nervously. Honestly, Azarath had no idea what she was doing here... But something had drawn her down to this stallion.
