Glowing green eyes blinked slowly as the mare looked around the area. The sun which had been high in the sky, was now making it's way down the sky, ready to retire for the night. Her firey colored hair blew gently in the breeze that was coming through the valley as she tried to decide which direction she would continue making her way. Not once did she consider that there were others that could be living in the area, others that she could run into and potentially have problems with. All she was interested in, was seeing as much of the world as she could. The world was such a beautiful and colorful place, and there were so many questions that needed to be answered.

Smiling, Gladys decided to continue down the valley, admiring the mountains that surrounded it. This place was beautiful, and it was a shame that she wouldn't have time to fully explore it before it got dark. Perhaps her first order of business before going to much further, would be to find a place to spend the night. She never really traveled much at night, worried that she might run into various creatures of the night and wouldn't be able to defend herself. While she prided herself to do most things despite her smaller stature, she wasn't sure just how well she'd do against a full sized kalona, or skinwalker, or other worse things that moved about in the night. So as she walked she kept an eye out for somewhere that could keep her safe in the night.

User Image Lehava's form was curled easily against a tree. She was asleep; most days she slept. It was more peaceful during the day; most the predators in this area coming out at night. So the Cinderbeast snoozed, the tip of her tail twitching occasionally as she let the day slowly roll by. But by the time she awoke, she was ready for anything. She moved quietly through the forest, every so often brushing a bush or snapping a twig. Several creatures seemed to almost greet her; chirping or letting out small bark noises before running off. Lehava was their protector, having claimed this territory. She wasn't going to leave them alone to die up here where a Kalona or something would wander.

And that's when she heard it; something was moving in the distance. The Cinderbeast bared her mouth full of fangs, eyes narrowing and claws grasping at the ground under her. Who was here and what did they want? She slowly slunk forward, her tail swaying slowly behind her, skirting along the ground. She dropped her head, peering around and then through the brush and ahead of her. Something was ahead... Something was moving. She narrowed black eyes, before catching sight of the glowing green. They had to be eyes.... something evil. Lehava hissed lowly in her throat, before moving carefully around the trees and closer to the creature. If she got close enough, she could attack...

And that was her plan. She moved quickly forward, claws ready to flash and slash. She jumped forward and made a move to slash toward the... mare?! Lehava stumbled when she realized just what it was she was about to attack. She lost her footing, catching herself by digging one of her clawed legs into a tree and catching herself. She stared toward the mare for a moment, her tail still flicking and twitching this way and that. Her head tilted to the side as she stared at the other mare, uncertain as to what the hell was going on.

Hissing, her ears picked up on hissing, not very loud but just enough to alert her that something was nearby. She hoped that it wasn't after her, but to be on the safe side she kept her guard up, waiting. Within moments something came out from the trees, something large and glowing and it was about to attack her when, it apparently changed it's mind and stumbled. Her glowing green eyes blinked, confused at the sudden change as her heart slowed it's racing pace down.

"Um, I'm sorry for intruding, I was just passing through and didn't realize anyone lived here. Please forgive me." Her small voice squeaked out as she tried hard to not start running in the opposite direction. Maybe this glowing other was nice? She had to at least give it a chance. "I'll just be on my way, and I'll make sure I'm out of here before morning comes, though I really am hoping there's no evil night creatures out." Gladys started to worry out loud as she spoke, letting her thoughts take over her mouth. "And I'm not sure I could defend myself against the creatures of the night I'm afraid, but I assure you I won't stick around." She nodded as she watched the other, waiting for their reaction to her. Honestly she hoped they would accept her apology and let her go about her way and not attack her or eat her.

There was something... something about this? She wasn't certain what was going on, and it was odd for her. Lehava had always known what was going on in this forest. She'd always known who was where and doing what. And this mare had passed her by... this mare had shifted through her forest. Lehava flicked her tail slowly behind her, the tip skirting along the ground as she tried to figure out just what it was that this mare was talking about. Her claws scrapped against the ground, drawing up dirt and leaves and grass. She took a slow breath, calming her racing heart. No, no no. She couldn't keep her heart rate up. She needed to keep calm; needed to get herself able to breath without wanting to dunk her head into cool water.

The Cinderbeast's ears flicked up quickly when the mare started to speak. Or rather, when Lehava started to understand and connect the words together. Before she was in a daze, distracted by a pretty mare and soft words. She shook her head, blinking several times, before focusing once more on the teal colored mare. Lehava's sharp eyes took in every small detail of her; from the slightly darker markings on her coat all the way to her glowing green eyes, Lehava observed. Her head cocked to the side almost like a birds as she analyzed the mare. She eyeballed her for a few seconds more, before the words finally fully caught up. She was apologizing... and seemed scared of the prospect of getting attacked while wandering these high mountains and dense forests.

Lehava frowned, her ears pinning back. No. No she couldn't allow this mare to wander the woods. Lehava knew of the Skinwalkers that wandered these area's, of the dragon on the peak not far from here, of the bears that hunted smaller Soquili down in order to feed themselves and sometimes their cubs. The Cinderbeast shifted forward on her claws, before pausing and shook her head. No. Don't approach. Stay calm. Stay still. Don't startle the mare. Though Lehava was startled herself. She hadn't been near anyone so lovely in years, and it frightened her. Last time she had gotten distracted by beauty it ended very poorly. She took a slow, deep breath, before glancing toward the forest where she'd come from, her eyes sharp.

"I would not suggest going farther into the forests... Skinwalkers have been known to wander just outside the valley. As well as a dragon up in the mountains. Without a guide you would likely stumble into their territory." She murmured, her voice sounding shockingly warm. After a second she glanced back toward the teal mare, staring for a second longer before nodding toward her to follow, and turned toward the way she came, her tail skirting over the ground again. "This way. If you like... you can stay in the cave system until day break if... if you like." She said, hesitating. She paused to look back at the other mare, stance slightly uncertain.

The red-haired mare was suddenly confused and stayed frozen to the spot. This firey creature just came at her out of nowhere and is now offering her a place to stay. What if it was a trap? What if she were to get eaten?! Her glowing eyes glanced at the mare's claws and she gulped nervously. Those claws looked incredibly sharp and ready to slice through the protective scales she had on her own back. Wouldn't it be better to just go back the way she came, or even worse go on ahead and take her risks with the other night creatures?

The fire mare did mention a dragon though, and skinwalkers, and neither of those seemed like they would be as forgiving for going through their territory. One front hoof started to move forward, but yet, Gladys hesitated. She still was incredibly unsure of the whole thing. The more she thought about it, no matter which way she went, she would probably still be dead by morning. At least if she was in the caves this mare mentioned she might have a chance to see a last sunrise before she was killed.

"I guess I can stay in the caves. I promise I won't be in the way." she said quietly as she slowly started to follow the other mare. "Just please don't eat me." Her voice squeaked as she tried to cover up that nervous outburst as a cough. There were times that she hated feeling so small and defenseless but, she couldn't let that bother her now because if the need arose she'd have to use her speed and her wits to try and survive the night if this mare decided to attack her once within the caves.

Lehava shifted slightly on her hooves and claws. Her eyes lingered on the mare that seemed uncertain whether to follow. Well, that wasn’t going to be good. If she wished to stay and be attacked by Walkers, that was one thing. But she was in Lehava’s territory, and the fire mare wouldn’t let her just be attacked and dragged down into death. If she wanted to die, then she could, but not on Lehava’s watch. The Cinderbeast had seen too much death already, and this wasn’t on her agenda to see more. She tilted her head to the side as she watched the emerald mare contemplating just what to do. To follow or go off on her own? To move forward with her path and risk the dragons and Walkers, or to follow Lehava to safety.

Eventually, it seemed that she made her mind up. The mare seemed to be following Lehava now, and though she didn’t know what she was going to do when they got there. Her ears pinned slightly at the thought, before she moved quietly forward and through the trees. She paused every so often to make sure that the mare was keeping up, her tail flicking and skirting over the ground every so often. She paused to stare down at the path ahead, before breathing out a small sigh. The path always seemed more dangerous when there was something or someone else with her. She moved carefully, claws grabbing at branches and into the ground as she moved down a steep hill. The Cinderbeast paused at the base to look toward where the green mare was, watching her with dark eyes.

”Not much farther. Watch your step on that hill, it’s quite steep. Just move slow.” She said simply, watching her and waiting. She didn’t mind waiting, didn’t mind ensuring that she made it down the hill safely. It was one reason that she lived down that way. It meant she could have a sort of safety if something was ever chasing her.
