Lock had not done much of anything this whole time. Mostly he'd been following behind everyone else, keeping his head down; trying not to get in anyone's way while simultaneously trying to keep up. He was rather weak, somewhat average in all other aspects.
So one day he finally decided to get off his a** and do something about it. It was a small step, but he figured proving his worth with more shiny artifacts would probably help.
After all, a pair of shoulder paldrons wasn't going to do him much good alone. He needed something a little more official looking.

Shun was out there, watching the outside area all stoic-like and whatnot. He was fully equiped, though a part of him wondered if there was some way he could improve his equipment still.

Lock knew Shun only very briefly from their encounters in the arena, but his knighthood was enough to know he was trustworthy. Lock knew the code; you followed your superiors.
He found the courage to ask, "See anything ... out there?" Lock figured it he was going to head out alone, he should ask the great knight himself whether or not there was going to be danger.

"I see a s**t ton of trees. And rocks," Shun deadpanned.

"I see," Lock deadpanned back.
He hadn't really thought the conversation was going to get this far.
So now it was just sort of an awkward silence.

He folded his arms over his chest, just staring towards the mountains. Perhaps he should take one last look. With his cloak, he wouldn't have to deal with his goddamn horse in the very least.
Shun hated that horse.

Lock looked at Shun warily. This was two very stoic, silent people trying to have a conversation.
The younger one hadn't even thought to bring a horse. He was literally going to walk. "Were you just going to stand here all day?"

"No. I am going to the mou-" he started but stopped as he saw Lock beginning to just... walk.
"Where the hell are you going?"

Shun twitched.
"No. You asked if I was going to stand here all day. And I answered."

"Semantics," Lock said slowly, pushing up his glasses. Maybe it was rude to talk to a great knight this way?
Lock crossed his arms and said, "I was going on ... I was going to go on a quest. The king may be dead, but that doesn't mean such things are useless to our cause." He coughed awkwardly after that. It was sort of a pointless thing to say to someone who had a full set of armor on.

"And you are going on foot."
Shun didn't seem to be impressed.

Lock held his own under the unimpressed look. The crossed arms stayed locked firmly in place and his gaze returned the favor.
"My horse bucked me last time and nearly threw me over the cliffs," he said shortly. Learning to ride was part of the code, he knew, but a dead knight was no use to the code. "Forgive my hesitance to reenact the action."
