It took about a week for Creedence to run into Chantelle after braving the basement showers. There was a strange consistency to the water this time, but it hadn't smelled and seemed clear enough by the little lantern. No bugs or snakes this time either, so it was the sort of day other people would tell her to feel grateful for. Enjoy your freezing, scary shower, it could be so much worse. Hair damp and shivering in her flannel PJs, Creedence exited the bathroom only for her to see the other girl and yelp, startled. "G-g-geeze." And it was tempting to say something snarky and a little mean but she was wet, and cold, and she'd been lonely all day. "Hi, um. I'm Creedence," she offered, tucking hair behind her ear. "Do you live down here?"

Chantelle could move very quietly without meaning to, so it wasn't too surprising that she seemed to be hovering on the periphery as the other girl left the shower. When Creedence left the shower the huntress had a blank, distant sort of expression on her face that went thankfully unseen. It was as if the yelp brought her back to life and lit up her expression. She stepped back in surprise, holding up her hands defensively, brandishing a bottle of expensive looking shampoo as if it was a shield. "S.. sorry!" she stammered, realising she wasn't in danger and relaxing again.
"Sorry." she repeated for good measure. "Didn't mean to like, surprise you. I was just bored and like, a shower helps when its not like...totally awful and.. and..." she trailed off, shrugging her shoulders.
"Yeah, I live down here, it's like, pretty horrible isn't it? I figured it would be cool, like living like a vampire all crypt-like and stuff. But it's not really. Vampires don't have to take spidery showers and don't get mold all up in their like, favourite novels." She seemed to reconsider the idea of a shower in favour of conversation. "I'm Chantelle, from twitter! You been down here long?"

Creedence brightened visibly at the name before trying to tone it down to nonchalant. "I like the dungeon thing, it's like...cool. Lots of empty rooms to....well, anyway," she flustered, cutting herself off before she could wax poetic about running a campaign in an actual crypt, and finishing lamely,"...the bathrooms are a crime. So like..." And here she realized that she was stalling the other girl from her shower and that was awkward now wasn't it? "When you're done, would you want to like, hang out?" The cool facade was more like a particularly ragged veil, the fact that she was lonely coming across all wide-eyes and hands that didn't know what to do.

Chantelle was unguarded in her eagerness, all bright keen smiles and pleasantness at someone having actually taken the time to address her. "It's really cool, like would just be cooler if we didn't have to live here all the time like. I don't know my hair just starts to smell like the smell down here and that's just.. augh." She wasn't sure if smells bothered other people as much as they could bother her. "And you know I never really like thought to explore? I didn't want to disturb people, I hear lots of crazy people like, live down here or something. Sometimes you can hear yells echo alll the way along bouncing off the walls. It's pretty like, atmospheric."
Her smile only brightened at the offer to hang out. "Oh its like, no problem honestly, like I said I was just taking another shower because I was bored, I had one this morning. I'd like, way sooner spend some time like, doing something or getting to know people down here more, its the total pits when no one is about or is like completely weird and won't talk to me. Probably like because I'm a goth and like, really scary to them I guess."
"Anywhere you had in mind?" she asked with that same eagerness. "This place is pretty interesting, like. Maybe a chance to do some research for like, that role play thing you mentioned, it sounds really cool."

And Creedence was immediately at ease. Relaxing she nodded with a half smile, "Yeah that'd be cool. Really cool. Let me just drop," she hefted her clothing bundle, lantern glowing on top, "...these off. I'm in the middle-ish. B62! What room are you in?" There were more lanterns along the hallways now than a month ago, someone was steadily adding more and more and it was comforting to know someone was looking out for the basement. She hoped they didn't make it too nice though. The dungeon thing was badass. The bathrooms just a little too much so. "Have you ever played tabletop games?"

"I'm in B1!" she said with a proud grin. "First room in here." She slung her towel across her shoulder and pocketed her shampoo, walking alongside Creedence. "Snapped it up when the like, old mother hen of the place moved out to better places. Got a house, last I saw."
Chantelle hadn't even registered the new lighting for her part, she paid attention to oddly selective things while others completely slipped her notice, the light was a minor boon and nothing more.
"Tabletop? Like Dungeons and Dragons? Can't say I have, not that I like, wouldn't like to try it or anything like, my family was just...sort of religious. The kind of religious that thinks anything with like, dragons in is evil. My grandparents wouldn't let me do that kind of thing. They wouldn't like me liking vampires and werewolves either but I guess they won't like, ever know. Sad really. But on the upside I'm free now to do like whatever I want."
She gave Creedence a curious sidelong look, she was at the very least a good listener. "You?"

Glancing up at Chantelle, Creedence commented, "That's pretty old school. The DnD devil worship stuff. There's actually a movie based off an old pamphlet like that. Kinda made the game seem cooler than it is." She would be the first to call it a losergeek hobby. But it was also one she loved, so it was okay. Unlocking the door of her room, she let Chantelle in with a wry, "This is my palace of awesome, don't mind the rats and plague victims."There were actually some fat rubber rats in one corner of the messy little room. A diverse array of wooden trunks scavenged here and there from storage rooms and the QM's burn pile littered the room. Most were empty, but the girl was already showing a hoarding tendency. At first she'd tried to make do with cardboard boxes but after a couple weeks, decided they ruined the stone walled ambiance of the place. It was messy, with clothes scattered everywhere and no sign of laundry done. A small pile of books were stacked on the bed stand, including several large D&D manuals and what looked like a journal of sorts at the very top. Drumsticks were sticking out randomly here and there. Brushing out her hair in a few quick strokes before tying her hair up, Creedence asked, "So how long have you been down here anyway?"

"Yeah it is." she agreed, nodding. "They were pretty old though so like, I guess that excuses the old school thing. I don't think they meant ill by it but gawd it was really stifling. And hahaha it did too, make it seem even cooler I thought. I was like what sort of black magic could like some dice and a board even do. I was imagining like something Jumanji style I guess."
She curiously followed the other girl into her room, always interested in other people lived.
Research.
The mess was very different from her own room, but she still seemed very enthused. "Wow those trunks are awesome. It's like a treasure cave!"
She sat down carefully on one of the more sturdy of the wooden crates. "And I've been down here a long time at this point, they like, just don't want to promote me for whatever reason. Since er.." she counted on her fingers. "June I think? Not even June last year but the year before THAT. And upstairs they are all like, enjoying their fancy rooms with their like, windows and stuff. I guess I'm a dungeon loyalist by this point."
