There is a time of peace that follows, the lake purifies and grants clarity to aid in their brush with corruption, granting a brief and needed balm to the hearts of those who remained of a once mighty order. But it could not last, and soon the clarion call that is was time rang through the air, couriers running to each Great Knight and their brigade. The messages were of a kind:
It seeks to spread beyond the castle and into the world. The window to stop it has begun to close, move swiftly and strike with determination.
On the journey back a silence grows around them, punctuated by the snarls and cries of quick, vicious fights just out of sight beyond the treeline. There is a tension in the air and one not entirely due to the importance of their mission. Something was wrong and it felt familiar.
The fact became undeniable as the castle and it's now abandoned town came into view. Once graceful and sturdy stonework was now shot through with shining black veins of crystal that seemed to grow and twist even as they watched. And it was spreading, reaching out in a manner that felt like it could not only corrupt this world but beyond it as well, pulling both heaven and hell into its black, choking grip.
The doors were wide open, the darkness within waiting patiently for the knights' return.

The tension was strong in the air. Trisha could barely stand it. Her shoulders dropped and it felt like a great weight overwhelmed her. She turned looking at someone near by, a young boy from the looks of him, and wandered up to him. She didn't want to feel alone, even though she has a group herself. And a mission.
As the town cam into view she stopped, possibly in front of her sudden and possibly unwilling companion. "Wow.... it's beautiful and horrible..."
"Camilla, I think it's time to go." Shayne told the cheerful girl as he felt tension in the air. After Shayne hopped on his horse, he looked back at Camilla. "Please, whatever you do. Stay to be safe." He added before riding off toward the castle. He just knew this might be the last time he might see Camilla. He just knew, they probably wouldn't get out of alive on the upcoming events.
When he reached the town's gates, Shayne stopped as he saw what had become of the town and the castle. "This isn't going to be good?" He mumbled to himself as he began move slowly towards the castle. Deep down, one side of him was hoping that Camilla would catch up with him and both do this together. However, the other side didn't want to see Camilla get hurt or worse. The only reason why Shayne was being brave all this time was for Camilla; Shayne realized as his knees began to shake a bit. "Please hurry up and join me, Camilla." The redheaded boy whispered softly as he looked behind him in hopes to see the cheerful girl.

The need to move grew more urgent each second. Even before seeing the horrific view of what had happened to the castle and town came to the young knight, the feeling was there. Caion shuddered a bit as they continued on, hoping the feeling of worry was not too apparent on her face, or what little of it could be seen under the mantle she had on. The pale whisps of her hair floated around, and for a moment were the only bright things she could see, until even that felt drained of light. It was worse than she thought... how could one fix all of this?
With a glance at the others she revised her thoughts, no.. not one, all of us, sure we are few, but we are stronger now, and we are not going to give up. The same worry as in her heart, was on the faces of others, but still there was determination. That fortified her.
Then the castle... once so beautiful, now shot through with visible darkness. A soft hiss of dismay left her lips, and her hand clutched convulsively around Lady Woe's chain as if seeking strength from the long bow. This was it... they had to finish it.

Marosa turned, lips parting to greet the other, but it came out a little as a squeak. She coughed, lowering her voice slightly so it came out less... feminine.
"Hello...?" Her attention was torn; between the journey and this 'new' person saying hello, the knight tilted her head and glanced at the pathway again.
"Are you going to tread the way back, too?" Honestly, Marosa didn't want to go it alone - unlike the other, she had no group to go with, no one she'd really talked to, sadly. She should have had someone, but she was so caught up in trying to be someone she wasn't.... she just lacked the ability to actually find people.

"Yes, I am part of the white team. We are going to secure an escape route and reclaim the great hall. What knight did you pledge too?" Trisha's mind assumed this was a male. A fairly feminine male, but a young man, very young, man none the least. She looked him over with a small frown. He looked lonely. She would walk with him, yes, because... she too felt lonely. It was hard when they were off to make what was possibly their last stand, no one should be alone on this day.
"Um..." Marosa shifted, not really wanting to say, but it was only fair as the other person stated theirs. "Black." She hadn't actually been able to find Merlin to help him, but she wanted to do the best she could under the circumstances.
And from her viewpoint, she did very, very poorly. All she had to show for her effort was a cloak with forget-me-nots embroidered onto them in a fine fashion. It was just about her only treasured item, but she hadn't made it any further than that.
Her eyes glanced over the other's body, curious as to their outfit and how far they'd gotten in their knighthood.
Marosa's eyes and the way she glanced over Trisha might be misinterpreted, however...

Trisha had made it quiet far when it came to the quests. Far indeed with the willow helmet, the gauntlet of the bull, the tabard of the lamassu.... is seemed she had a strange cow theme going on. that and irises. and finally the ribbons in her hair.
Trisha saw and odd glance, but wasn't able to interpret it. Never in her mind did she see herself as desirable. (even if in another life she was.) But her new companion's eyes landed on one spot or so she thought. her ribbons. "Do you want some?" she pulled one straight from her hair and moved even closer, aiming to tie it around Marosa's hair.
Marosa made no move to prevent the ribbon, instead tilting her head so her wild red hair was easy to access.
"Thank ye kindly, lass." It was well known that ladies often gave out ribbons to knights as tokens of their 'affection', or just for good luck, but it was rather strange to the redhead that a knight would bestow favors onto another knight.
Perhaps she meant it as good luck.
"Marosa." A small smile graced her face. Maybe this companion wouldn't be so bad.

A good luck token was a good way to put it. Though in all honesty, Trisha gave away ribbons like one would food. To all whom she loved, and who had any favor at all. When she lived in the city swarms of children, and men had her ribbons. Those who worked hard, those were cute and on a very very rare occasion, because she honestly though someone was cute. Even in the castle, her ribbons had found there way among the common folk.
Ribbons.... were like marking her territory in an odd way, but Trisha never took the time to think about it.
"You are welcome." she smiled distracted for a moment from all the heart ache, and the tasks that would soon have to bed done.
Glancing back at the road, the redhead grimaced. "We should at least start walking tae see what all this is, aye?" She didn't want to... but a knight never shirked from one's duty, especially in the face of the most grim ending.
Fingers sliding into her palms, Marosa made two fists as she stared at the ground, then at the darkness from the crystals that slowly grew in the distance, encompassing everything it could.
"... it needs tae be stopped." Her golden eyes stared back at Trisha. "Oi'm naut sure how."

"I..." Trisha stared at the road ahead of them. The cities that once where, the buildings still standing in their short absence.
"I'm not sure how either..." she knew of the gate and the mirror, but she didn't know how any of that worked.
"We will just have to believe in Sir Lancelot." He was the white knight, Trisha just automatically assumed he had a plan of some kind. Even if she herself didn't know how it would all work. She checked Marosa's ribbon and then started forward. "And better sooner than later I think."
"Aye." Marosa had watched, from the back, how the new knights had been chosen. She hadn't been brave enough to elect herself, and she had that nagging feeling not to go for it. Like she was supposed to do something .. different?
Shaking her head to clear her thoughts, the redhead started forward, jerking her head towards the road for Trisha to join her.
"So... what's yer story, lass?"

"My story? And are you sure you should be calling me lass?" Trisha wasn't sure how old this one was, but she would put him in the middle of puberty. She laughed at the though. "Perhaps miss would be better... and I don't remember it. Like the knights I gave up my memories to become a knight. Though... Mostly I spend my time healing. Up till now that's what I did the most of anyway."
She sighed. "Though I do long for the sun... it's odd I can't even remember seeing it but I want to.... what about you?"
Hmph. She may have looked young, but she was a lot older than most thought. Just maybe a little naive at certain things, that was all.
"Oi've always wanted tae protect things. But as of late... oi feel like oi'm even failing that." Frowning as she stared at the ground, she scuffed a toe into the dirt as she walked.
"Sometimes oi feel like oi'm destined for greater things, but everything oi seem tae do just falls short of what oi want tae accomplish." Tugging her prized flower-embroidered cloak around her shoulders, Marosa gave Trisha a sad smile. "Oi kinnae remember any of my memories either, but oi just feel like oi let people down constantly." It was a feeling she couldn't quite explain, but it didn't make her feel any better about her situation. Not at all.
That was why she had to go forward. To prove to herself that she was worth something.
