It was very tempting to seek out another one of the knights to aid her up the mountain like the previous two times she had attempted one of the quests. But when Maple went to the clearing where the horses were, and where she stumbled upon the others, it seemed like she was alone. Perhaps she was the last one to even still be trying to go up, everyone else had gotten their full collection of gear besides herself maybe. Probably no one bothered to come to the area unless by chance or accident.
It was going to be up to her to get her up there then. Maple sighed heavily at the prospect and simply prepare her horse for the journey and collected an ample supply of food.

That unsettling feeling struck suddenly, and Maple began to fear for the worst that the ailment that usually took her out the first moments of going out onto her quest was striking once again. Her stomach churned and she almost hunched over the saddle as her horse carried on without much of a care.

Steady breathing and her focus on the mane of her horse allowed for her stomach to settle. Perhaps it was just nerves getting the best of her, there had been much failure before and without the aid of wings this time she was most likely just worried how the adventure would go.
Stomach settled, Maple turned her attention the the landscape behind her and the mountain that grew larger as she closed in upon it. It would seem so tranquil if she didn't know what it harbored. Nor the dangers that lurked just outside. Even ones so small.
All of a sudden, the small black knight heard a chittering around her while everything else grew quieter. Her brown eyes scanned the area, trying to find the source and to see if something was maybe coming at her. She would have expected it to be large with how it commanded the area. But no. It was a small flock of little squirrels that suddenly launched he selves at her and clawed at her face and upper body. Maple let out a cry and flailed. And then they were gone. The squirrels gone, Maple made her way into the forest (where, honestly, she would have more expected to see the creatures. Unless she was blocking their path to their home?). A break was much needed, an an assessment of her injuries. Thankfully there was a lake for her return but there was still ways to travel before she made it to the summit.
Most of the scratches seemed superficial in nature except one on her shoulder that left her a little worried. Hopefully the squirrels didn't carry other diseases she would need to worry about. Maple heaved a sigh and stood from the rock she had been sitting on to check herself over. Something, then, caught her eye just behind it in a small collection of grass. Curiosity got to her and what she found left her a little hopeful for the rest of the journey. It was a bag of food.QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 39/29 YOUR HP: 40/50

With how many times she had at least gotten this far in the quest, and how many times she managed to trigger this particular trap. One would have thought Maple knew where it was to avoid it on further attempts.
Maybe it was because she was still on her horse but somehow she managed to hit that spot that made the axes go. They hurt like they normally did. Combining that with what the squirrels had done already.QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 39/29 YOUR HP: 35/50

Maple honestly had to feel rather proud of herself for this attempt. There had been so many failures before and she had gotten to the summit previously with the aid of others. But this time she accomplished it, proving to herself that she actually could still.
Not getting attacked by eagles probably would have been more ideal and Maple flailed as she did with every other attack (except the axes) until they had had their fill. Her body felt bruises and scratched. It hurt but seeing the talbard waiting for her made her feel so much better.
