Ochre carefully crouched on the lip of a retaining wall, his mind distant while his feet crunched through its loose concrete flecks like bones. Crouching, however, demanded a measure of consciousness, for any great movement would disrupt his balance. Carefully he clasped his hands as a bridge between both knees while he watched the park in darkness. The leaves were no longer leaves, but dancing shadows that oppressed the feeble lights that attempted to shine through. The grass lay as hair on the ground. Benches stood empty, mostly, with little more than the occasional woodland visitor to grant them purpose. Lamps framing the walkways stood as sallow globes to guide around nightly visitors. He doubted anyone more than custodial came through here. No one could possibly be that stupid.

No, Ochre paused a moment later. No, they could. People have a habit of surprising me, after all.

He turned - carefully, with both palms flatted on the wall - and faced the streets beyond, carefully segmenting stretches of city like choked-off green belts. It lay more lighted than the park behind him, but contained far fewer trees. Not that it mattered; the decorative foliage in a city never granted obscurity to anyone. They offered no fruit, no shelter, no chances for discovery. The forests here were all false.

You didn't like it when you moved here. You weren't allowed to choose, either. Just like me. You couldn't let me have a better path, could you. The dead stretch of city did not answer his caustic gaze. It owed him no answers. It offered him no welcome, no solace, no acceptance - he became its predator the moment his clothes melted into black and his hair grew to unnatural lengths. Drain energy, they said. Suck the life out of people. Ruin their lives, one by one, and pretend it doesn't mean anything. Pretend it doesn't matter to anyone. Devote yourself to some queen of the Negaverse that you've never met before, and probably won't unless you ******** up royally.

Who would ******** agree to this.

Ochre straightened carefully, rising to height while metal scraped against the wall, clawing its way until the gold bangle ending his braid stopped near the back of his knee. It liked to pendulum in the breeze, he noticed, and often tangled in anything he passed. But, he figured, it shouldn't unnerve him any more than the glaring holes in head and chest - but somehow they mattered less.

They meant less, with the coming spark of life that caught his breath in his throat.

Elpis patrolled nightly, which, in her mindset, wasn't really a mistake as much as something to do to mind people who couldn't mind themselves - mostly, civilians. Being helpless still weighed on her mind, and she usually kept quiet about it, the Senshi walking along the route of the night calmly. Trouble wasn't common - either they talked or it was simply not present, be it fate being kind, or... Elpis being Elpis. She wasn't sure, but it certainly didn't boter her much.

She had a job to do, and that was what mattered, and tonight it seemed her job was nudging her, the sensation of another aura - chaos at that - nearby, and Epis decided to approach slowly, letting them move first.

.....Hopefully, it wouldn't be a mistake.

The feeling provoked by seemingly nothing stemmed from a particular directional presence, which confused him all the more. Before he stepped off the retaining wall, he looked in the direction of the cement path it framed and found little more than a few cylindrical bulletin boards loaded with 'lost organism' posters. Beyond that, street lamps dotted the path, occasionally attached to the older buildings that backed up to the walkway. Beyond that, further retaining walls spelled out the end of the park. Beyond that, darkness. He questioned whether the sensation was intuition, but started down that framed concrete path nonetheless.

Supposedly this is an aura. Who does it belong to? They warned to avoid those that feel 'powerful', but how the hell am I supposed to know what 'powerful' feels like. The further toward it he traveled, the more he recognized that this person - or entity - felt akin to a grating case of indigestion, or an itch beneath his teeth. It felt so highly dissimilar to Xenotime or Umber that he almost considered it an antithesis to them. And what type of creature would crawl around purveying this manner of aura but an enemy to the Negaverse? If warnings were correct, then this thing fostered no compunctions about attacking someone aligned with the Negaverse, regardless of their personal views on the organization.

Whoever this was, they didn't care if he held no love or interest in the Dark Kingdom he purportedly served.

I'm not going to stand around while they decide how best to murder me on the spot, Ochre reminded himself. Better them than me. And if Umber's experiences are anything to go by, running is a s**t lot to take. Knowing his possession of magic lent some support; though he knew not what his magic performed, simply having it meant there was less of a dependency on strict hand-to-hand combat. Strength and resilience came with the odd uniform, but experience taught that this other entity partook in similar boosts. The coming altercation boiled down to raw strength, speed, reaction time, and any magical components held by the combatants.

Knowing this hardly abated the adrenaline-fueled pounding in his chest.

Ochre rounded the retaining wall and immediately spotted the source of this auric disturbance: a girl stood there, clothed in a silvery skirt and deep blue accents. The white chest piece looked like an upside-down heart, and her headband reminded him of a stereotactic head frame. He froze, lasting only a second, but in that time a certain fear gripped him so tightly that it left him both chilled and exhilarated. Once that second passed, unfamiliar words and actions flooded his mind in an instinct that he surrendered to. His hand reached outward, palm parallel to her standing, and an ethereal pentacle formed just beyond it with the spoken incantation. "Sheikh's Prayer," he spoke, his voice bereft of the tremble he suffered.

Sailor Scout Attack: Sheikh's Prayer
Range: 8 feet
Number of targets: 1
Duration: Variable
Number of casts: 3
Ochre extends his palm out and a pentagram forms just beyond his raised hand. It glows, and a spirit-shaped energy curves and swirls out at quick speed in a straight line. Once struck, the enemy experiences mild cold-oriented damage (i.e. light skin abrasions and irritation) along with a sense of doom and cold sweat. Lasts 10 seconds. Can be dodged and interrupted.

If hitting a SENSHI... The senshi incurs no damage and no repercussions from being hit. However, Ochre is afterward allowed to cast one iteration of one of the magic attacks, up to the equivalent to his level. For example, if Sailor Ochre strikes Sailor Iris with his attack, he will only be allowed to cast one iteration of her Iris Rainbow Ribbon attack. His ability to make this one cast lasts for a 20 second window.*

The aura was coming, and Sailor Elpis cringed inwardly, mentally gearing for either route. Growing closer, though, she had the feeling this wasn't an afent, and Elpis swallowed, turning before seeing the senshi- right when his attack struck.

Her skin itched, felt cold and in some aspects wrong, and while not easily alarmed, the feeling of dread wasn't pleasant, the rational portion if her mind warring with the rest it was a magical attak - from a senshi with holes. Another Corrupt or whatever they were called, and Elpis felt the reaction to the notion made the unease rise, and her stomach did flipflops anxiously, warning herself there but for the grace of God..., and she shivered, managing a fist as she internally dug to go over her magic.

She wouldn't uswe it, not yet, but the senshi launched for the other, hissing.

"Whelp," She grumbled. "You must not be much of a talker then!"

She wouldn't risk a chance at being killed or worse.

She felt uneasy though.

Ochre hesitated afterward and glanced toward his still-outstretched hand. He certainly felt a measure of energy leave his body, and he watched some curious glob hurtle itself toward the senshi, but nothing seemed to come of it. She still stood before him, unscathed and unchanged. Had Ochre only managed to put himself at a disadvantage? Had he not performed whatever strange ritual he needed for his magic to actually work worth a s**t? Was it really just a light show for the enjoyment of others? A host of questions followed in quick succession, but he had little time to process them -

for this Sailor Scout came charging for him moments ********>," he cussed in immediate reaction. He froze where he stood for a moment longer before he finally darted beyond the wall. The ******** just happened there? if they were going to give me useless magic, then they should've just offered me a damned weapon. Xenotime has one, Umber has one, all the officers have one, but I get stuck with visual effects s**t? And they expect me to survive?

Ochre spared no glance to see if the girl still followed him. The senshi caught one of the lamp posts marking the entrance to the park and swung against it to redirect his inertia. He charged into the park then, which left him within a large clearing that sported only a few trees to obscure him from his not-so-accidentally provoked attacker. This war business is total s**t. ******** the war. ******** attacking these other people. I just wanted the ability to drive up the damn youma that always want me dead. Now that I've got that? The Negaverse can take its directives and rot.

However, intuition warned him that there was still more to his magic that he hadn't yet discovered.

He ran. That alone was a good sign and Elpis shivered, letting him run a moment. She had no idea what he'd done, but the fright of seeing a corrupt - the panic attack of a corrup senshi made her brake a moment once he was out of visual range, though the aura was thin, distant, but noticeable, and she shivered again, swallowing down a panic attack. She could have ended up like that. Holes, or something in her head and chest, unknowing who her father was, possibly hunting and killing and...

And Elpis made a small noise of fear before deciding to track with a whine, moving just enough to be felt, but taking to the branches of a tree to try observing. Still, her attack bubbled at the front of her mind and if a civlian drew too near the impromptu battleground, she'd fight if needed - even if she was afraid as piss and wanted to hide in her room clutching her goberian and rocking. Something about Corrupted Senshi felt just wrong, and while she couldn't place what, she hoped the Dark Mirror didn't feel the same if she met one powered.

Still, Elpis was more cautious now, observing the area calmly for signs of the other being near civilians. Would he attack again, or run...?

Well, hopefully, she was well hidden. In reality, likely not.

With fear came exhilaration - an unwanted, intrusive and jarring emotion that left him questioning himself while the sense of that senshi drew closer. He crouched low behind a tree, hoping the pool of his impossibly long hair didn't spool out and alert the girl of his exact location. Branches and leaves rustled, suggesting her search for higher ground. s**t, he cursed silently. With the swell of urgent panic came a pervasive urge to engage her, to seek imminent danger for the thrill it bestowed upon him.

Yet he never found excitement in danger before.

A glance to his surroundings confirmed no one else around - no one to shriek at his appearance, to defend this other senshi, to use as collateral if he found himself in a situation that led to death. Only the trees looked upon them quietly. They rustled in the breeze until a gust forced them into a lean, and Ochre's hair spooled out from beyond the trunk. Good, he thought to himself. When was there ever a place to hide from these things? Our powers betray us. Better fight than play this ridiculous tango.

For a moment, he hesitated further. When he stood, he peered around the trunk to find a telltale slip of silver cloth hanging from one of the farther trees. Nothing else showed of her beyond a possible glimpse at the upside-down heart that formed the chest of her fuku. A hand then extended beyond the trunk as Ochre attempted his magic a second time. The risk entailed further tiredness, heavier limbs, a slower response time - but if he could discover the secret of his magic, if he could unlock that broken intuition that spoke of something more... The thought lingered while Ochre steeled himself for a quieter, self-assured repeat of his magic.

Go for it! Should be in here!

Elpis remained on her perch, shifting her weight slowly to look around. Without people, she wasn't as inclined to do more than watch, and a portion of hair drew her eye as she frowned internally.

Well, we're both eyecatching as ********> The senshi noted internally. She wasn't sure what he was planning, but she did glance before carefully moving some, gripping a branch as she waited. Now what are you going to do?

Hopefully, not jump at her - she was un nerved enough and really just hoped he ran away. Corrupt senshi were... Creepy.

So very creepy, and she hoped she never ended up among them.

She never budged, never made any efforts to dodge the small soul advancing toward her. It touched her, passed through her, and dissipated without a trace. She showed no outward damage. What had he missed? What had he done wrong? The magic cast, and it connected with its target, but nothing came of it. Did his magic constitute a boon to whoever received it? Was he buffing his enemy just now, and building her strength to great heights?

If that were the case, small wonder she didn't move.

Ochre cursed himself, but urgency commanded that he concentrate further, that he sift through irreverent thoughts and find another piece of old, innate memory that might explain the lack of effects. Come on, he urged himself. She's not going to just sit there forever while you figure out what the ******** you're doing. What was it that was taught back in my hometown? Release my thoughts to the leaves, the stars. What remains will ripen your secrets in earnest. Breathing a sigh, Ochre closed his eyes and tried to clear his mind of the detritus that clouded it - the doubts, the confusion, the indignation at his lot.

And what remained was a simple phrase, one fading quickly from mind.

Iron Spray Surprise.

Ochre might've questioned it if the urgency behind it didn't spur him into quoting the words. He repeated them quickly, and in his hands formed fragments of iron ore. They lay thickly against his palm, looking rather unassuming save for their solid shape. He knew not what to do with these. Instead of attempting to suss out an answer, Ochre reeled arm back and threw the chunks toward the senshi that lingered in the trees. Maybe she'd get pegged with one and find herself too disoriented to pursue him.

Pfft Elpis is awful at sports too, no worries. And Ochre gets a gold star for successfully getting Elpis furious in a proper fight.

Elpis assumed he was hiding initially. She'd been willing to walk away, pretend it had never happened, and hid in her room with a bowl of ice cream and the Avengers, but no. Just as she turned around, she caught a glimpse of ore in his hands.

Elpis had never been on the receiving end of her attack, and the Senshi of Metal knew from observing those she used it on that it hurt like hell, so, wen Ochre threw, her reaction was to use her garms to shield her face, gloves taking the bulk of guard duty, and she hoped her fuku was sturdy enough as the shrapnel hit. Metal iron - shrapnel that bit her upper arms and whipped through hair, that chewed on her skirt, and embedded itself in boots before the senshi peered over her arms, taking slow, furious deep breaths.

She had no idea how in hell the senshi had pulled it off, but she was livid.

"Oh HELL no you didn't." She snaled, and jumped from the tree to launch herself at Ochre. Screw magic - until she was closer. She was going for the face.
PostPosted: Sat May 23, 2015 7:39 am

Not only did the ore veritably explode on impact, but the shrapnel shards sprayed over the senshi in the lively burst. She defended it rather well - and Ochre wondered if she knew the attack. So much of it felt surreal; where had the magic come from? Was it born from his attack? Stylized after the senshi he hit? Did the magic belong to the senshi he hit? Was it a random attack bestowed upon him from the ether? Was it based on his surroundings? A flurry of questions struck him, but time and place offered no solace to pour over his inquiries.

The senshi, irate as she was, dropped from the trees immediately in obvious search for blood. Ochre managed little more than a hissed expletive. I've got to get out of here, or do that attack again-

Except she was upon him in a flash.

Fostering no time to think, Ochre dropped into reflexive action, hoping that blocking or backing up might mitigate the already poor foray into magic exploration. But the redhead lacked the quick reflexes to block punches launched in quick succession, which left him to the fate of finding an out.

But what was there to ponder for it, save the supple branches that grew from the start of spring?

IC no, OOC yes. HE'S ALSO WELCOME TO HIT OR THROW IF CAPABLE she's not tiny but she is smaller boned and thus lighter than a medium boned person.

Elpis had no idea why he'd attacked, and his aura of her level wasn't regitering. Last time she'd seen red had been in defense and even then, she'd been called back if only for care. This time she didn't have that voice of cotrol or authority telling her to back off.

She wouldn't kill him, though. Death was easy, death was cheap. And pain was easier with the rageswitch in her mind flipped - the released of pent up fury and a habit of wrestling her much stronger twin brother putting her in the position to leap onto Oche, and begin to punch, hissing furiously.

"Do you like others' magic? Do you?!" She would regret losing her temper later, but right now she did not care. He stole her magic, she stole any sense of satisfaction.
PostPosted: Sat May 23, 2015 9:07 am

Ochre's legs buckled beneath him with the added weight of his attacker and he soon found himself on the ground, pinned, and in the worst of situations. It differed little from confronting a rabid dog, with the way she struck at his face with unmitigated fury. Each strike drew sharp pain, a strained grunt, and occasionally blood. He scrambled to raise arms over his face, but it offered little support. No, his attacker was beyond defensive deterrent now, wasn't she? The way she angled for his face, the hiss of derision in her voice...

Even rabid dogs fostered less disgust for their targets.

I can't just sit here like this, he reminded himself beneath each blow. Sometimes his arms caught her strikes, which would lead to thick bruises. His bones hummed where knuckles met with thinned flesh. Unless I want my face beaten in. And wouldn't that be obvious for spotting the Negaverse senshi you pounded the s**t out of yesterday. I'm not about to die for the good of the Negaverse or its directives.

One arm left defense of his face to search out any makeshift weapon - a rock, a broken branch, some toy left behind by a playful child. He didn't care what he found. Couldn't care. Even if he managed only a handful of dirt, a quick spray into her eyes might find him some time to get out from beneath her. Once fingers crawled from dirt to cold, unforgiving metal, he seized the object that presented itself. The links of it made themselves apparent when knocking together, and he recognized soon afterward that he held a length of chain. Discarded bike chain? A good enough weapon for this fiasco.

He whipped the chain toward his attacker, hoping to strike her in the face to both return fire and hopefully swell one of her eyes shut.

Elpis was snapped from fury by sharp oily metal lashing her face, and she scrabbled back, rubbing her face to try getting the area clean, She was dazed, partly being snapped from the angry mindset, partly from the sudden weapon, and got up, eying Ochre, still rubbing, to try processing.

Had she actually jumped the guy? .... Was that good? Bad?...Goodbad? She didn't know, instead she swallowed, trying to avid stumbling or wobbling as she blinked. And why had he attacked her anyhow?....

Stolen a spell? Hers? Was that it? She had no idea, but internally she was spooked, surprised she'd lashed out.

She only remembered such fury in one fight, but barely, and in the nightmares, and Elpis slowly stepped back, beginning to breathe a bit more rapidly as her inner panic rose.

I don't want to be a monster.
