It felt very odd to Milo to go on a quest on his own and without the quartermaster overseeing his taking of a horse and resources to go up the mountain. He had usually traveled with Noemi, fair company all around and fun adventures. Now he was alone. But it was also something he felt he needed to do at least once. To prove to himself (and maybe Lancelot) that he was a capable night to travel up the mountain.
So, he gathered some food for himself and saddled one of the remaining horses that had stayed behind in the clearing.

Viewing the countryside without a companion was rather nice, he found. He had more of a chance to view the landscape without being distracted by other things of such beauty (for instance, his companion).
But there was one downside to traveling alone, he found. And that was the unfortunate lack of a second pair of eyes that could let one know they were suddenly traveling through such an area where they could contract just a terrible illness.

Thank goodness for a healing lake. One quick dip in and Milo felt so much better (he felt sorry for the lake).
Milo managed to keep the same pack as before and added only a bit more food to it.

This time around, Milo decided to keep a better eye open. To not only watch the mountainous terrain pass him by, and to admire them, but to also make sure not to miss any sort of objects that might cause him harm in any way. Be it sharp painful objects or anything that could simply be touched and cause a great illness as before.

No, it didn't seem that such a brush was going to be a brush with death. It had simply been an indinginous plant playing in the wind, playing with him if it were and no harm was going to come from it. But, it had the chance to distract the blue knight, that he didn't notice his uneven footing and his faltering on the trail.

Entering the forest, Milo allowed himself the chance for a small break and to survey how much he had actually lost from his folly. The horse seemed to be thankfully alright, as well as his weapon but his food supply had gone down just a little.
The blue knight patted the neck of his in apology for his actions and fed it a few of the oats he had managed to scrounge up before checking the outlying trees for anything else that could be dangerous. But low! In the bushes! Some food supplies to make up for what he had lost. What luck!QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 38/32 YOUR HP: 50/50

The last few times he had managed to trek up the mountains, he and Noemi had been without their horses, having managed to scare them off with the perils they faced. This was certainly a new venture for him and he had o wonder how the creatures did actually manage up the mountains. Was he supposed to allow it to stay there as to not risk it? Did they mind the dead bodies?
Lost in thought, Milo didn't realize he set off a trap now and was struck with so many arrows. Ow. Hopefully the horse wasn't hit. (and now he was really thankful it was there so it could carry his weakened and pain ridden body up the rest of the mountain.)QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 38/32 YOUR HP: 30/50

Milo had managed to snap off the ends of the arrows, least to cause more damage to his body further than there needed to be. It hurt, but he knew there was a pool waiting for him that could cure all that ailed him when he got down the mountain. He could endure this. He had to.
Milo lumbered up to the summit and found a talberd waiting for him with an interesting bird-like creature embroidered upon it. He held it in his hand, letting the fabric slip through his fingers. A prize never felt so wonderful winning.
The blue knight turned to return to his horse and found that old man with more food waiting for him.
