When you had one good spar, you came back again to find another. Nyiim released the first arrow half-heartedly at close range and laughed when it missed.
||If you roll a 20 to hit your opponent (only your dice roll, no bonus added), you hit your opponent WELL. Increase your overall dmg 50% (meaning multiply by 1.5 || ex: (12 +6) / 2 = 9 (x1.5) = 13.5) || If you roll a 1 you epically fail and deal 1/4 of your total dmg to yourself (If you manage to hit your opponent, they receive full dmg, but you still hit yourself. Applies to magic also || ex: (12 +6) /2 = 9 (/4) = 2.25).
Votzhem launched forward the moment he heard the bowstring twang. Sparring was serious business to him – it was how he got stronger, it was how he accrued worth to prove to his sisters. Not that they'd listen – they'd made that abundantly clear. Practice had put him in touch with the life force granted to him by Mother Aisha, and he accessed it easily, twirling into a whirlwind 'slash' with his sparring batons.
He was very pleased with how he had executed the maneuver, and was even more pleased when he looked back to see that he had dodged one of the man's arrows... until he realized that that arrow would not have struck him by any possible circumstance anyway.
He laughed, turning to face Nyiim, his insectoid eyes glittering with good humor. ”What was that?!” Votzhem asked, teasingly, ”Are ya gonna let me win this time, or what?”
- - - 19 16 10 5 + 8 = 13 / 2 = 6.5 / 4 = 1.6 Nyiim did 1.6 fantastic damage to himself Nyiim attempts to dodge and counter retaliate 19 + 11 = 30 > 20 full dodge! 19 + 8 = 27 / 5 = 5.4 5.4 dmg incoming
The arrow actually bounced back and struck Nyiim in the face, but he was able to whirl and dodge the flurry of attacks the hybrid sent at him, laughing while he did. Really it was an impressive feat! It looked very complicated and intricate, but he could be totally wrong. Close combat was not his forte.
"No. Would you like me to?" Someone unused to the young man may not realize he was joking.
Votzhem was sure the other was kidding. Mostly. “Well” he quipped, “It'd sure be nice not to fall on my a** in the dust for once!” he said, darting in. Damn – his perfect maneuver had missed. What would it say about him if the only hit he managed to get in on the leaf man was from the man's own arrow?!
“Do you know, I took down a menzuri while half out of me skull...” he said conversationally, “But I've never won a fight?”
Nyiim attacks! 1 + 8 = 9 < 13 Miss! Nyiim hits himself again for 1.6 damage ... again
"What, really?" In his surprise he took a hit and his own arrow missed. Darn it! Okay, no more distractions... ah, screw it. Half of the fun of sparring with Vosh was the conversation.
Votzhem attacks again because he is on a rollll XD 3+9=12 A GOOD, OLD FASHIONED MISS!
----
"'What really' to which part? The Menzuri or my winning streak?" he joked, managing to miss by a hair - though whether it was by his dreadlocks or by Nyiim's thinner locks was a matter of debate.
Votzhem moved into the next phase of the maneuver, lashing out with his legs to bring his opponent down to the ground. You know, instead of him for once.
It was just as he was doing this that he saw Nyiim injure himself. Again.
"What...?" he exclaimed, bursting into laughter as he bounced back into position, "Seriously, are you letting me win? 'cause that's real kind o' ye, but I'd like to win for real."
- - - Nyiim attempts to dodge the trip! 9 + 11 = 20 < 27 Nyiim fails
He saw the foot coming, but it didn't help him counter-balance, and so he stumbled back and readied himself for the coming attack. He gave a shout of frustration, but it ended with a laugh.

Aisha's roots, was he actually going to win this?! He was feeling very good about his chances as his opponent actually fell to the ground, and he decided not to waste any time attacking with his batons. He tapped, again, into the life force that flowed through his veins and swerved to strike his recovering foe from the back and the side...
- - - 9 11 18 Nyiim attempts to dodge and counter retaliate! 9 + 11 = 20 full dodge 9 + 11 = 20 / 5 = 4 + 3 power up = 7 7 damage incoming
Once again Nyiim was able to dodge, but it seemed his offensive side was lacking. What was it about today? The young man steeled himself and tried to focus on a proper spar.

“Augh, man, make up yer mind! Are ye letting me win or not?!” yelped Votzhem in mock annoyance as his excellent attack missed yet again. Okay. New tactic. His opponent was getting serious? So would he. He shifted easily into a defensive posture, waiting for the next strike...
Nyiim saw the defensive stance as an invitation to attack and, which he realized his offensive may not be as damaging it was worth a try to just get one shot in.
