Ah, yes. This was it. This was Abbi's last quest and she would have completed her armor set!
"I'm feeling really good about this run, Joker!" Abbi told the horse as she led it out of his stable and began tying food bags to his saddle.
"We're gonna just run right up to the mountain super easy and just skip on back home! Easy as you please!"
The horse gave a gruff noise indicative of its doubt that Abbi instead interpreted as encouragement.
She was so sure of her success that she packed the lightest amount of food possible.

So nearly immediately after she'd placed her first step onto the trail Abbi stumbled across a bee's nest. And naturally Joker the Extremely Flighty and Undependable Horse ran back to the castle. For a moment Abbi stood there, seeing her bad luck playing out in spades.
"N-no its ok! I can do this! It'll be great!"

While she was totally, 1000% certain her luck was made of utter fail, Abbi found herself to be at least a little wrong a moment later when she stumbled across a bag of food left by some other traveler.
"Ha! I knew it! I'm totally gonna make this quest! Just you watch!" She was yelling at the sky, but really no one in particular.

Unlike the path right outside the castle, Abbi was less familiar with these caves and didn't always realize she ought to be more careful with where she was placing her steps.
Granted, she should have been more cautious regardless of where she was given how dangerous the world was. But Abbi, cheered by the additional food, was getting a bit fool hardy.
Don't worry, the quest tried to axe that instinct.

If there was an achievement to be won for successfully navigating to the top of the mountain only to fail, regardless of circumstances, Abbi should be the proud bearer of such a title. She seemed destined to repeat herself on these quests and this visit was no exception.
In her haste she tripped and dropped not only the last bit of food, her own footing.
Screaming and cursing her foul luck, Abbi rolled all the way back to the castle with nothing to show for it but scuffed... Well everything.

With her chest puffed up and a frown affixed on her face, Abbi stomped into the woods and made a very grand show of being very haughty about what she was doing.
And then, the rabbit showed up.
"YOU'RE FOLLOWING ME YOU SICK SON OF A FLUFFY RUMP!" Abbi screamed a general collection of non-curses at the rabbit, but it still gnawed on her leg.

When this was all over and she was whining at whoever would listen to her, Abbi was going to blame the rabbit.
It had bitten her and given her medieval rabies and caused her to fail.
This was that silly rabbit's fault.

Extremely cautious at this point, Abbi grabbed a bit more food than she usually did in hopes it would keep her having to give up early. Though, as she tied to the bags to Joker's saddle she began to worry that she was bringing too much and therefore it would weigh her down and make her fail!
...She was getting a little fretful.

Maybe it was all that fretting and worrying, maybe it was just because she was super bad at noticing when the path got thin and turned to dangerous terrain, but whatever the reason Abbi still almost fell to her death.
Once again, it was Joker, the intrepid and probably very fragile given how frequently he gtfo'd away so often, horse who saved Abbi from certain doom. She loved upon him lavishly and promised him as many apples as seemed fit.
Which would really just end up being whatever she managed to find at the castle.
Which would probably be none.

She promised herself to be more careful this time and keep a close eye on the trail. While this was a good way to just avoid any dangers, it also was a great way to find extra food!
"WHOO HOO! Here, have... It looks like a fig... Hope its not bad for horses!" Abbi laughed and offered something fig-looking to Joker who accepted it, nibbled it curiously and gulped it down happily. He then proceeded to nuzzle her for more, which only made Abbi laugh.
At least she knew what gifts he liked now!

In the end, it didn't matter what kind of treats offered Joker. He wasn't the kind of pony to stick around when booby traps were littered along the ground for less observant travelers to trigger.
Maybe it was because he was a horse and would have a harder time avoiding them.
Maybe it was because he was a big scaredy cat.
"Definitely a big scaredy cat." Abbi huffed and shouldered her remaining bag of food, determined to make it this time.
