It was weird to get his wish.
The thing with fantasies... they were supposed to be just that. He would dream up fantastic ideas for himself, other worlds he could escape to and be the bravest, most revered super hero out there, but it was just that. A day dream. Now that he actually had super powers... he was rather confused as to what to do next.
Something about fighting monsters and protecting people...
That made him very nervous, and he was not sure he wanted to do that. At all.
Cygnus was not exactly a brave kid, and now he had to come out here, in the dark, alone, so he could maybe figure out what the hell was going on out here. He was hoping that this was just a continuation of a strange dream, and things would stop when he woke up, normal and safe in his room with his comic books.

Elvira had been sneaking out of the house more and more lately, but she just couldn’t seem to stay away from her senshi duties…and honestly, that was more than okay with her, since she loved running around and protecting the city…it was simply the best.
Tonight she felt someone nearby, and it seemed to be another chibi, so of course she wanted to go and investigate!
Walking near where she felt the aura, she paused, seeing someone in a very tattered looking fuku. “Hi there! Is everything okay?”
He almost looked like he was lost or something. “Is there anything I can do to help you, or are you just new at this whole super hero thing?”
If he was new…she could totally help him out! She might not be the most seasoned, but she had some idea of what she was doing, so she could help him and it would be great!

Cygnus looked at the girl and frowned at her. Another bigger kid, presumably, who wanted to push him around and treat him like he was nothing because he was small! He wasn't scared of girls, though, at least not ones that weren't adults.
He could stand his ground here, damn it!
"What, do I look like I need help from a girl?" he asked, making sure to wrinkle his nose for extra theatricality on that last word, just so she did not miss his obvious distaste. Girls were generally evil creatures that he did not want to have any business with at all.
And also cooties.
"Maybe I've always been a super hero! You don't know!"

Elvira blinked slowly, unable to really get it through her head that this boy was being…really rude. “Um…I was just trying to help, no you’re right, I don’t know if you’ve always been a super hero…I mean I’ve been like this for well over a year and I haven’t gotten any stronger, so I guess that could be the case for you, too…”
Part of her wanted to cry, honestly. She was trying so hard to be more outgoing because you had to be outgoing when you were a senshi and…and she just…
The chibi shrugged. “Well, I just thought you looked lost and scared and I wanted to help you, but if you’re a pro at this and you want to go and get eaten by a youma, that’s fine by me. I won’t help you or anything.”
But she might follow him just to make sure that he was okay…she was upset, but she didn’t want anything bad to happen to the boy.

Cygnus huffed a bit.
He was not sure how to really interact with others, and always immediately went to the defensive. It was a bad default to have, as he often felt guilty for it, at least afterwards when he was alone and thinking about how he didn't have any friends. Still, even knowing that did not help stop him from being a little brat most of the time.
If he actually acted like who he was, he would get teased all the time for being a big baby!
No one could know.
"Wait, what's... what's a youma? What do you mean eaten?" He had not encountered a real youma yet, and he had not really gotten the chance to be taught anything considering his methods of 'be really rude then run the hell away' whenever he met someone. He had no lessons under his belt, and only knew that he could power up and down, and be a superhero when he wanted to.
What that actually meant, though, was lost on him. He just knew that he definitely did not want to get eaten, and would even risk cooties to avoid it.

Elvira relaxed just a bit. At least he was asking questions…and he wasn’t calling her rude things now. “A youma is a monster…there are lots of them that run around and around hurting people…that’s what happened with me. I was walking with my brother and this monster came up and tried to eat us or hurt us or kill us, something awful. But…a cat came and was like. You can save the day! And she made me Sailor Elvira and my brother…it turns out that he has magic too and he became a knight because of that youma, so that’s pretty cool…they’re really scary looking but if we work together we can beat them and protect people!”
The chibi drew in a breath, having said her spiel without bothering to stop for air. “We’re supposed to be united, or at least that’s what I’ve been learning…and our side, the senshi…nobody’s gonna hurt you, so you maybe should try not to be so mean? I mean, I’m just trying to help. You seem really cool and I don’t want to see you or anyone get hurt.”
And that was that. Elvira crossed her arms over her chest and looked away, sighing. Now she felt mean and she didn’t like it.

The little senshi watched her, his mood shifting a bit. Now that he was learning, he was at least allowing her to talk without trying to think up names to call her. He had a real problem with adjusting to who was worthy of respect, and who filled the role of an adult he could not cross. His parents, of course, were the highest order, followed by his teachers and then, like, police officers.
Senshi were hard enough, but other chibi senshi? He certainly did not want to have to answer to them, or treat them like they were better than him! Except this one, as gross as she was for being a girl, seemed to know a lot.
So he just watched her with a petulant frown, arms folded over his chest.
"I'm not mean!" he said defensively, huffing again. "You just don't know me! Anyway. I don't know what most of this... senshi stuff is, but it sounds scary. Do you think that monster was really going to hurt you? Would they... can they really eat you?"
What if one tried to swallow him whole? How would he fight against that?!

“Yeah I think the monster was really going to hurt me! And so did the cat that came to wake me up so I could kick it’s butt. Then my brother work up as a knight, but that wasn’t because of a cat, that was just…who he was inside, I guess.” She made a face, sighing. She had already said the bit about her brother…but she didn’t even care. He was just so cool.
“We beat it real quick when we worked together, that’s why I’m saying you can’t go around calling other senshi names…that’s like giving the youma access to just eat you and all of your friends. If we go around helping each other…well…we’ll punch them in the mouth and we’ll all stay alive!”
Because clearly that’s how it all worked. Friendship was magic. Yesssssss.
Elvira looked so pleased with herself, it was just. Ugh. She was amazing sometimes.

Cygnus shook his head in wonder, and no small amount of fear, as Elvira talked about the monster. It sounded like a real nightmare to him, and something he just did not want to have to deal with. He would never be strong enough to fight things like that!
He was so stupid to think he could be a super hero... after all, they were usually amazing people and he was far from anything like that.
It was pathetic.
"Well. I guess that makes sense, or whatever," Cygnus grumbled, mostly at the ground, not able to lift his eyes to meet hers or anything. He was not the nicest little kid, or at least he pretended not to be, so his grumpy attitude often got in the way of his making friends.
"you wouldn't want to help me anyway! because I'm mean or whatever. I don't care! Girls are gross anyway!" The easiest way to protect his feelings was to bully others away from him so they never had the chance to see how lonely and sad he was.

Elvira blinked. “But I just said I wanted to help you, why wouldn’t I? We have to help each other. I’m not just going to let you get eaten by a youma, honest. I want to be your friend!” The chibi thought for a moment, then broke into a grin. “I know! I haven’t really used this much but…”
She pulled out her senshi phone, something she hadn’t gotten a chance to use much at all. “I think all I have to do is take your picture? So…say cheese!”
With a push of the button, the chibi took a photo of Cygnus, registering his information in the phone. “Now I’ll be able to get in contact with you, and if you pull yours out and do the same, it should be the same way, so if you’re in trouble, I’ll come help you, okay? Because that’s what friends do. Even if you do think I’m just a stupid gross girl. I’m not just going to let you deal with all of this alone.” She was feeling kind of grumpy again. Why did he have to be so…mean. So like a boy. Ugh.

Cygnus huffed, puffing out his cheeks. He was turning a bright shade of red, which stuck out even more against the white of his hair and the white and yellow of his fuku. He looked at her, confused and surprised, but trying hard to keep his embarrassment in check.
He was not really the best in social settings, so this new role as a super hero was one he was going to have to work really hard to figure out.
That was the pose he ended up in when she took a picture of him. He had his hands clenched at his sides, standing tight and straight, cheeks puffed like he was holding his breath.
"Well. Okay. If that's what you want to do I guess... I won't NEED help, but if... if YOU did, then I guess I could come and help you too. Or. Whatever. I don't know!"

Okay. So this kid was completely adorable and huffy…and if he came off as mean, clearly it was just because he didn’t know what else to do. He was a boy, after all.
“Well, okay then. I’ll call you whenever I need help, and you’ll be there to save me? Because that’s what’s supposed to happen right? You’re supposed to be the big brave guy to save the scared and not very brave me, right?”
Elvira gave a little smile. “Even if you’re super brave though, I think we should both start heading home, it’s getting late and the monsters like it when it’s late so…I’ll see you later, okay? We’ll be friends for real some other time!”
For now they were friends for not real. Or they were on the way to being friends for real…but he clearly didn’t want that. But maybe that would change later. Maybe. Who even knew? The chibi gave a wave and turned, running off towards her house.
At least maybe now he wouldn’t go out alone. Maybe one day he would take her advice and call her. Patrolling together had at least the potential to be fun, right? She thought so, at least!
