As a satyr rose from the corpse of the one they'd freshly killed, Robert looked a little flustered with confusion over the cold shoulder he'd just received. She could have been upset with him for a million reasons (women were just so complicated) but if he took her words at face value, then he was a disappointment. He'd allowed someone else to take the glory of their kill, instead of finishing the work she'd so beautifully done.
He was an absolute failure.
He spent a quite, pensive few moments puncturing the satyr with weak thrusts.

Somewhat incredulous, Mildred watched as she had been, and mimicked as always, despite how much Robert seemed a bit broken. Perhaps he needed a nap, or a hot meal.

"How can you say such a thing?" Robert huffed out, stabbing the satyr through its eye all the way until it's head was skewered through his sword, and it hung dead on his blade. "Was there ever any doubt how much I wanted you? I gave you all of me. I have no more left to give, and if at times, this means I falter, will you continue to doubt me then?"

Her shoulders slumped as she lowered her weapon, and she seemed much less enthused about the corpse of the creature than usual.
"No," she sighed. "That was not my intended meaning. If you did not willfully opt against my suggestion, if it was accidental, I offer my apologies. I simply feared that you did not find my advice prudent, and a vulnerability between us arose as a result. But we cannot be vulnerable. We are not. It is imperative that we both remember this."
"I can do nothing willfully against you." He slid the sword out of the corpse, and cleaned it against his pants. "I simply couldn't be fast enough. And that is my vulnerability. I did not think it would get between us, until you turned on me."
He sheathed his sword, and quickly took her hand to lead her to the next monster, even if he couldn't look at her until he'd proven himself again.
