Welcome newbies to Dragonflight! We've remodeled the Guild and revamped several aspects of the shop to be more easily accessed and understood! The great ranking lineart will be used more frequently and the Hatchling art has been updated as well! If you're interested in getting involved you've come to the right place. This New Blood thread has several opportunities for new comers to get a dragon and begin play! It is highly reccommended you read through this thread to get an idea of the current setting - a lot has changed in Dragonflight since it first opened its doors! Now, on to the good stuff! There are 2 Rules for the New Blood event: To participate, you must not own any Dragonflight dragons.
You may win a maximum of 1 Dragon from the New Blood event (excluding the Guaranteed Impression; you can win a dragon and the Impression both). What's Available?3 Semi Custom dragons Green, Blue, or Brown.
1 Pre-coloured Bronze Search Dragon.
1 Guaranteed Impression at the next Hatching.

Semi Customs! With a Semi-custom you can choose the colour (green, blue, brown), the build/size, and provide 3 keywords to influence the appearance of the dragon.
As far as Personality goes, you can write the personality yourself or request that a staff member provide you with one based on the matched character.

Guaranteed Impression A Guaranteed Impression means that one Candidate that you present for consideration at the next Hatching will be guaranteed an Impression.
The colour and dragon of the personality are not set but we will take into account your preferences. Please note, no metallic Impressions are guaranteed.

Search Dragon Entry Username: The_Muffin_Puppy Character Name: N'oka Age: 26 Dragon Name: Experath Why has this dragon and rider chosen to be a Search Dragon? What about the position speaks to them? Born on a farm out of everyone's way N'oka would never have been searched had he not happened to attend a gather that a Searchrider also attended. Candidacy was awkward, he didn't understand Weyrs and thought about things differently than people who had been raised in such a populated area. When Experath came barrelling into him N'oka realised how important differences in candidates were. All dragons were different, so the people had to be different too. Spurred on by Experath's adventurous and energetic spirit the lad set his sights on become a Searchrider. It took work to prove themselves reliable and trustworthy to be let loose outside the Weyr, but they had a job to do. Together the pair make it their business to try and scour the furthest and hardest to reach places. No dragon should be deprived their lifemate and no human denied the chance to impress just because of where they were born.

(I'm using a Character of mine from a dead guild to use towards this. Im in the process of reading the metas and everything since I was MIA for a while. I'll tweak this if necessary. Especially if they get selected and I create their character profiles..)
Edit: If I was approved in the Aged out event, does this mean I can no longer try for this?
Search Dragon Entry

Why has this dragon and rider chosen to be a Search Dragon? What about the position speaks to them?
T'nor was the sole child to a widowed Smith and he fell in line to be his fathers replacement. He had taken to the craft quickly and loved working with his hands and working with iron and other metals. However, it didn't seem as though it was meant to be. When he was just about to hit 16 turns he was searched and the day of his birthday he impressed.
It hadn't been something he had ever dreamed of. Being a dragonrider. But once the rainbow eyes had locked with his and Tarenoth became a part of him, he couldn't imagine every being anything different.
The years to follow were grueling and he loved every minute of it. He abosorbed all of the lessons like a sponge and often enough had to keep his young hot headed dragon in line reminding him that if they were to become destined for greatness then they had to act the part. It took Tarenoth a while to come around but finally the Bronzes temper simmered and the two seemed to sky rocket ahead of the rest of the weyrlings. Once Tarenoth had gotten his temper checked it seemed as though there wasn't anything the pair could not do.
They rose up the ranks from wingrider to wingsecond and finally to wingleader all in the course of a few short years. They had liked the roles they had played in each spot because it had given them a better knowledge of the jobs that each position held. It gave them an insight to the minds of those who flew in those slots and to him, that made him a better wingleader than having been promoted to it right off the bat. However, with the changing of the times and the fall of golds and metallics they decided to set their sights on something else.
They had long since battled the thread and lead wings successfully but now they wanted something else. And it was to be searchers. They had the experience behind them to be able to get in the fight if need be, but being that they were no longer as young as they used to be, they wanted something a little less exciting. Now mind you, it's not that they chose this positions to "retire" or anything. T'nor just has a weathered eye for potential and would like to see that everyone has a fair chance at becoming a rider. Afterall, he had never dreamed he would one day be where he was now. He had all that to thank to a bronze and his rider when he was only 16 turns old. Ever since that wonderful day to include the day of impression, he couldn't think of ever wanting to be anything but a rider and he hoped that he and his would be able to be a part of many future riders histories just as the Rider and his bronze were a part of his.

Custom Atypical Form

Personality:
- Cautious/Cowardly, S'ya is naturally a cautious and soft-spoken woman. Even with the confidence lent to her by Fealth she likes to know as much as she can about a situation before rushing in. She much prefers the diplomatic approach before resorting to violence. Not her though, she'll never be one to be giving speeches to a Weyr full of people.
- Logical, Liking to take the level-headed approach S'ya tries to think things through. This can unfortunately leave to a fair amount of dithering and her sometimes missing an opportunity because she spent too long weighing the pros and cons. The woman does have emotions, but after spending turns in Malvren she learned that it is not wise to go charging in on a feeling. Feelings have a place, but risky situations aren't exactly their best location.
- Determined/Stubborn, once her mind is set on something S'ya isn't an easy one to be pried away from it. If there's a reason for her to be doing something she'll stay on it until the reason doesn't exist anymore.
History:
- Born as a Weyrbrat in Malvren Weyr
- Younger turns considered fairly average for a Weyrbrat (This is probably going change in full history when I've read through all the stuff that happened prior to the 10 year jump)
- Started noticing something was different in early teens. While other kids her age were beginning to develop feelings for their peers whilst Selya was not. Reassured that she was simply a late bloomer, it'd happen eventually.
- As the turns wore on Selya continued to feel different as she came more to grips with her asexuality. The sexual aspect of dragonriding concerning her. What if her dragons feelings took over her and she did something she regretted? It was an illogical fear, but to the teen it seemed completely within the realms of reality, yet the lure of have that lifelong bond of love and support was too much for her to give up.
- While Malvren was under Keller's control the candidate tried to keep her head down, too scared to cause much of a fuss and risk getting her. These people had disposed of people far more valuable than her.
- Standing for a clutch at 15 (Variable to fit with existing clutches) Selya was approached by a charming silver named Fealth, the silver proclaiming he could never share his heart with anyone other than his S'ya.
- Fealth was a charismatic dragon, confident in his and S'ya's abilities and greatly aided the girl in her confidence. Silly, S'ya, it didn't matter what other people thought, they'd prove them wrong anyway.
- Their weyrlinghood was a delicately handled affair, S'ya reining in Fealth's more showy tendencies. The girl worked to make sure the pair were as unassuming as possible, not excelling or falling behind in lessons. The less people thought of them the better.
- When the attack came on Malvren S'ya and Fealth were one of the first to change sides. Keller had come in and stolen S'ya's home, ruled it with cruelty and violence, they held no loyalty to the wherhandler.
- The pair were sad to leave Malvren when the dust settled, but they could not stay there alone. Even with Keller's taint, it was still their home.
- When the goldrider's first began to fight to keep their place S'ya was sympathetic towards them, they were loosing their place and that was a hard thing she was sure. Her tune swiftly changed however when they began using their abilities to command other dragons. That was wrong. What difference was their between Keller using violence and them using their command.
- The pair sought out to join the rogue hunters, to use Fealth's natural resistance to bring the golds and their riders to justice. Leaders should be chosen for their quality to lead others, not their ability to force those to follow them. Dragons had died at the mind of those golds, they could not be allowed to continue, especially not now they are even hurting non-riders with their raids.
- S'ya knows it is a risk and deep-down she is scared of the possibility of Fealth getting hurt, but after Keller she can't just sit by and ignore it. She's tired of hiding in the shadows and letting others fight her battles for her. Fealth naturally sees this as an opportunity to yet again prove just how talented he is.
Dragon colour: Silver
Appearance: A tall and slender built dragon Fealth is delicate looking member of his colour, all grace and elegance. His patterning are several intricate patterns running over his body, mostly down his neck, back, wings and a little on his legs. (I'm good with changing this to help the colourist)
Size/Build: Above Average size/ Slim build

Why has this dragon and rider chosen to be a Search Dragon? What about the position speaks to them?
I'len and Haltoth have been through a lot and been brought low from their original high rank and traditionalist views in Benden, to being confounded by a young silver rider when they were first brought to Trine. Confusion and frustration soon turned itself to a passionate fireworks love affair between the two and then all consuming rage at their death during the attack on Benden and Keller's forces.
I'len has done many things he would rather forget that has beaten back his stereotypical pride so often linked with bronze riders. He has heard others call his hero for his actions against Keller's rebellion but most nights he still wakes up in a cold sweat over memories of butchery.
The only time he can find some peace is in flight and solitude. Being a search rider allows him the stretches of autonomy he desires while still providing a service to Trine.
In all truthfulness taking the role as search rider had been I'len's way of giving up. Without the distraction of battle, grief and regret might well have driven him to suicide if not for Haltoth's constant comforting presence. For a rider that had always thought to ascend to the rank of weyrleader and still struggled to shake a traditionalist mindset removing himself from day to day life in the weyr and choosing a largely isolated life style seemed the next best thing. But once he started to return with future candidates and once those candidates impressed I'len found new purpose in his work. A protective instinct over the new riders he had searched took hold and they managed to bring him back to vitality and reintroduce him to the weyr community.
Ontop of that children seem to be the only ones that can see through his gruff old bear exterior and actually enjoy his company.
I'len will never shake off the hurt of his past but being responsible for starting young men and women on new lives rather than ending them has proved more healing than a life time of therapy.
On Haltoth's end. the bronze can not get enough of the awe and admiration directed at him when he and his rider visit the more isolated holds that have never seen a dragon so close at hand let alone touched one.
