She was going to be a Shaman, and a damn good one at that. Now that Eleina had decided what she wanted to do with her life she wanted to tell everyone, she wanted everyone to know that because of her mixed blood she would be stronger and better then anyone else out there. However she knew that being like that wouldn't get her any friends, but instead enemies that sought to tear her down. So instead of screaming to everyone that she was going to be the best, she wandered about and waited for someone to ask her.

Today was one of those days, and as Eleina walked the market she hoped something would happen. Maybe not like it had that other time, with the fighting since she wasn't ready for that yet, but some sort of something would be nice.

Zuberi felt energy running through his body. He was a man that always went after what he wanted no matter the circumstances. What people thought or things he supposedly should do just didn't matter to him. Why should it? None of them matter. And having that attitude always worked for him, at least until now.

L'lhynd had run away.

It was still hard for Zuberi to comprehend that. He had run away from him. Why? He turned it over his head so many time, but he just didn't understand. L'lhynd was his, had been his since a child. Why would he leave? He hadn't went away when the Matori were first freed, so why now? Sure there hadn't been many opportunities before, but that didn't matter. L'lhynd was his.

He frowned at the thought, not much paying attention as he walked down the road, not until something caught his eye. A girl. Before he realized what he was doing, he grabbed the girls's wrist, pulling her toward him.

This was not the kind of something that Eleina had in mind! "Excuse me. Let go of me." she said in the firmest voice she could muster as the boy held her wrists. He was stronger then her, which she could tell from just looking at him, but she was determined to at least try to get away.

Maybe she was just destined for trouble. This was the second time in a week she was about and about and had been assaulted by a pure Oban. She thought things had gotten better, but by the looks of it that wasn't the case at all. Though she wasn't sure if her mixed blood was why she was being grabbed.

Struggling she pulled harder. She really had to work on her strength, even though she was going to be using her magic she didn't want to be in this kind of situation.

The woman was struggling against him and people were starting to look over in their direction. Zuberi paid none of it any attention. Instead he was focused on the woman's eyes. They weren't exactly like his, but they were close. Maybe some Obans wouldn't have noticed it, but Zuberi had spent too much time studying his Matori servant, memorizing every aspect of what he considered to be his, to not notice.

"Your eyes aren't that of an Oban's," he said, finally releasing his grip on the girl's wrist. "What are you?"

It never occurred to Zuberi that what his words might cause trouble for the girl, especially in this crowd, nor did he care. He was too intent on confirming what he knew. This girl who looked like an Oban, had Matori eye.

He was starting at her, and she couldn't figure out why. What was he starting at? She guessed it had to due to her Matori features, but she couldn't be sure. It wasn't like mixed breeds were unheard of. Even before everyone knew they existed, and since the Matori were freed halflings like her roamed around freely. However just because it was allowed didn't mean that it was accepted.

When he let go of her wrist she took a step back, at once covering the wrist with her other hand and rubbing it. Although part of her wanted to run, she had a feeling that he would be able to catch up to her quickly. Finally she looked at him, speaking softly as to not attract any more attention then the pair of them already had turned their way.

"I am Oban." she stated, looking him square in the eye. Although she was a bit scared of the boy, she was determined not to show it. "But my father also has some Matori blood in him. So I have some features of his grandmother." she released the hurt wrist and placed them at her side.

        "What's it to you?"

Zuberi nodded slowly. That explained it then, why her eyes were like L'lhynd. "Your eyes...they're nice," he said the words slowly, as if he was trying to find the best way to describe it, but was still unsatisfied with the results. He frowned a little, thinking about it. Nice hadn't been the word, he wanted. Something else...

His attention was pulled away at the sight of the girl rubbing her wrist. he stared for a moment, playing back the events that had happened. It was a habit of his, to act on his instinct without question. A bad habit if you asked his parents, but Zuberi had never cared to change and for the most part he rarely regretted it, but looking at the girl now, rubbing her wrist, he felt just a hint of guilt.

"Sorry," he said gruffly. "I didn't mean to hurt you." He hadn't even realized he had been so rough, but then again he often didn't bother to hold back his strength There were a lot of things he didn't bother with though...

That wasn't what she expected... For him to tell her that her eyes were nice. As nothing exciting between two pair of them was happening the crowd that was watching were slowly dissipating, and for this she was happy. However she wasn't sure how she felt about the the boy standing in front of her. He didn't answer her question, but if it was just because he thought they were nice... "Thank you..." she said slowly.

When he apologized she looked him over. She was pretty sure he was a spoiled Oban, and if she had to guess she would say that his parents had a ton of mone and he never wanted fr anything in his life. It would account for his behavior. "I believe you." she said unsure how to answer his apology. She didn't want to say it was okay, since that had the possibility of making him actually think that things were okay.

He was cute, but she didn't know what to say to him. She was pretty sure that they didn't have much in common. "Have you seen them before?" she asked curiously. He acted like he hadn't, by grabbing her, but if he was a rich boy like she thought there was no way he wouldn't have been around slaves.

"Yes," he answered. "They look just like his." Zuberi didn't bother elaborating on who he was referring to. After L'lhynd had run away he had gotten more tight-lip about talking about him as if speaking about him would make him lose pieces of what he had left. Then again, Zuberi rarely liked sharing things that were his, even of the his in this occasion had run away in a bid for freedom.

"I have never seen eyes like your on an Oban. I don't have many interactions with..." He searched for the word. Mutts, that was what the other noble Oban his age called them; halfies his mother called them, usually she would say it with a high-pitched laugh like she came across something that she found amusing and disturbing. His father simply called them half-breeds. None of those words seemed to match the girl in front of him. "People with mixed blood." It was a mouthful and Zuberi would have preferred to find a term that fit better, but he was never good with words. He preferred action whenever possible.

"Have you been to Matori before?" he asked, pushing away his own thoughts on the matter to focus on something more important.

She searched his face, looking for any sort of clue that would tell her who he was referring to. However she got nothing. Although she was tempted to just ask him outright there was something that told her that it wouldn't be the best idea. She waited for what he would call her, knowing there was a good chance it wouldn't be all that flattering. Her first interaction with him hadn't been pleasant and she was pretty sure his manners weren't the best. However he surprised her once again. "We didn't come out much before, tending to stick to the shadows. Even those like me that are barely Matorian tend to stick out, as you noticed. However times are changing and I'm sure you'll see more of my kind." she shrugged.

When he asked if she had been to Matori before she nodded. "Yes, on several occasions." she wondered why he was asking. "My father's mother lives there, so we go to visit her at least once a year." she twisted a strand of her hair. "Why do you ask? Do you plan on visiting?"

"I need to go there," he answered simply and then stared at her thoughtfully. There was a lot he didn't know about Matori, never had been there before. He suppose he could ask a Matori, but most of them were too frightened to talk to him or too suspicious. The Obans who went there were usually bias and could only give him information coddled in extravagance, something Zuberi planned to leave behind for the journey he was planning.

Even though his parents were against the trip, if they knew when he was planning to lead, the would insist on a caravan and a host of other things that would simply get in his way. No, what he needed was information, something this girl could probably provide for him. Perhaps she would be able to tell him about Matori from both sides.

"Have lunch with me," Zuberi said, his request coming out more like a demand than he meant.

She started at him, matching his thoughtful gaze with one of her own. "Why?" she finally asked. There were many reasons he could want to go to Matori, and although some of them were noble and good there were a lot of them that she knew could be bad. If he was going for negative reasons, well then she wasn't sure she wanted to be talking to him even if he was handsome.

When he asked her to lunch, or rather told her that they were going to have lunch she was torn. "Are you asking me, or telling me?" she said testing the waters. She did want to go to lunch with him, not only to find out more about the trip he wanted to take but also because of his attractiveness, but she didn't want to go if he was demanding her to do so. It seemed that he needed someone to stand up to him, and although she couldn't do that physically she could try to at least with her words.

Zuberi frowned. Why? He didn't like being questioned about his actions. So he simply didn't answer. His reasons for going to Matori were his own. Instead his attention shifted to her next question. He struggled with that. She was not his servant or one of the Obans that often did as he demanded simply because he wanted it. He turned that over in his head, forcing himself to come to terms with that.

This woman met his gaze with her own, even though it was clear that he had the brute force to do what he wanted and the station for his actions to be looked passed. Yet, she didn't seem afraid. Curious. Zuberi didn't try to intimidate people most of the time, it naturally shown in his presence, but he had gotten so use to it that it felt strange to meet someone whose reaction was different.

He mentally pieced together the words to answer her. "I'm asking," he said.

He didn't answer her. How curious, it only made her want to know more. His answer to her next question would determine if they went to lunch or not, and hopefully there she could figure out just why he wanted to go to Matori. She would try to not give him too much information until she knew his intentions, just so she didn't end up helping someone who was up to no good.

When he answered a smile spread across her face and she entwined her arms with one of his. Maybe he wasn't as rude as she thought him to be, plus this meant she had the opportunity to learn more about him and this trip of hers. "In that case, lead the way. I'd love to go to lunch with you."

Zuberi jerked a little in surprise as the girl hooked her arm with his. He had girls be forward with him, but never so friendly like this. Usually it was more a flirtatious thing, and though he suppose she could be flirting, with the way the conversation had been going he didn't think so. He frowned a little. People were so difficult to figure out sometimes.

Still she had accept his request, so that was something. That thought made him relax just a little but, though there was still an underlying tension going through him. He wasn't used to touching someone outside of a fight or bedroom. So for this girl, a stranger, to touch him so casually was...different. He didn't pull away though. It wasn't uncomfortable.

"What's your name?" He asked gruffly.

He moved when she hooked his arm, and it would have been enough to make her pull her arm from his but he didn't move so she figured it was okay. She never got why some people were weird about touching, it wasn't like they were doing anything drastic.

When he asked for her name she shook her head. How funny was it that she had agreed to have lunch with him and didn't even know his name. He was good looking and all, but not so good looking that she should've forgotten to ask. What would her mother think of her.

"Eleina. And yours?" she asked as she looked up at him "And where exactly are we going?"
