This is the thread in which you may suggest new content for ALICE Online and also see what new and exciting features have been added. As ALICE Online is currently in its beta testing phase, many features are rapidly evolving as the game is balanced and rebalanced to ensure the best possible playing experience. Feel free to suggest anything you would like to see in the game, and be sure to keep an eye on the patch notes so that you can always be on top and take advantage of the new features in the game.

    update 0.0.1

  • A new thread was added, containing a running list of all quests available on the First Floor.

  • The First Floor was given an official name: Gloomwood.

  • The First Floor Encampment was given an extensive upgrade, and is now fully stocked with questgivers and supplies to get you started on your path to becoming legend.

  • The skill cap was reduced from 10 points per level to 5 points per level. While we will not remove any points from the points that currently exist, you will be unable to gain any more points in skills that are maxed out until you have increased your level (effective for all encounters begun after the time of this update). This game is not merely about combat, you are meant to expand upon your available skillset and become useful in multiple areas. We recommend using some of the quests in Gloomwood to start you on your journey.

  • Added a ranged mechanic for those interested in taking advantage of the bow weapon now available on the first floor.

  • Updated the skill list to include a list of most skills available in the game. Secret skills are not reflected in this list, and must be earned to be identified.

  • A quest thread was added to identify and instruct you how to perform the quests on the First Floor.

Update 0.0.2

  • Added a mechanic to Gloomwood allowing for random exploration of the Woods to include random encounters with wildlife.

  • Added the mechanics by which one can harvest wood, stone, charcoal, quartz and mushrooms from the Woods on the First Floor

Update 0.0.3

  • Added a second shard to the First Floor 'server'. All rules that apply to the main game apply in this second shard. Basically, this will let us play by ourselves and grind or do quests without involving the rest of the party. This way, you aren't stuck waiting for anyone to post. If you die in the shard, your character in the rp thread will be removed via some horrible disaster or another. A trap or something similar will catch them unawares and will kill them. Any experience or loot that you earn in the second shard will be given to your character after they turn in their next experience from the rp thread, or the next time that they are out of combat in the rp thread.

  • Modified the experience posting script to indicate whether the character has a skinning knife or not, to simplify things for me while generating loot.

Update 0.0.4

  • When killing a monster as a group, everyone gets a loot roll, but only the person who dealt the final blow is counted toward whether or not it stands back up as an augmented monster.

Update 0.0.5

  • In the event that someone in the group rolls low enough to revive a monster, the group can vote on whether or not the beast stands back up.

  • Modified the experience code, to make things a little easier for me while grading. Thank you for your help.

Update 0.0.6

  • From now on, when playing the shard2 dungeon, there will be no special rooms, no treasure chests and no boss doors. This is to avoid any possible problems from people being in both dungeons at the same time. If you roll a special room in the shard2 dungeon, it will simply be generated as a regular room.

Update 0.0.7

  • When crafting a piece of equipment (meaning something that a character can place in an equipment slot) roll a flat 1d100 (no skill) to help determine quality of the item.

A page describing a few of the more nuanced skills could be useful, such as the crafting skills and beast master could be nice. Beast Master especially since monster types are only going to get more numerous and having a centralized resource to see what is tamed by what can be helpful for a quick reference.

Update 0.0.10

  • The Shard2 dungeon got reworked. It is now an almost completely separate entity from the primary dungeon, and, while still designed for groups, will host a variety of bosses tailored to certain players.

  • The title system has been modified. Many titles will now grant a bonus to particular stats or skills. These bonuses persist whether the character has the title equipped or not, and are cumulative.

  • A mentor system is being effected. All characters can temporarily lower their level by at least five at any time outside of combat. This means that a level 10 can lower their level to anything between 1 and 5, but not to 6, while a level 6 may lower their level to 1, should they so choose. You will have your skills reduced to match your current level, meaning that your skill cap will be reduced to [new level]*5. Any skills that have more points than that will be reduced to the new cap. For example, a level 10 normally has a skill cap of 50. If that level 10 reduces their level to 3, then their new skill cap is 15, and none of their skills can be higher than fifteen. Any that are will simply be reduced to the current cap. This is not a permanent change, but cannot be affected until you are outside of combat. HP and AP will be reduced to match your new temporary level. This system is experimental at this point, but any deaths will still be counted as final.

  • The Light Point system has been implemented. Light points will be gained any time the character kills a boss, and every character that kills the boss will get a Light Point. You will only ever get one Light Point from a given boss. These Points are not gained from floor bosses. Only dungeon bosses are counted. On floors with multiple dungeons, each dungeon may be cleared to gain a Light Point in each. Defeating bosses will give you abilities that use Light.

Update 0.0.11

  • Update to the Heart Refinement system:

Quote:
Beastmaster Arte: Heart Refinement
A heart is a concentrated form of Light, and, through rituals mastered by beastmasters, that light can be refocused into a purer form. Using these rituals, you can focus the Light of the Sun through a heart of the same creature to infuse the light from other hearts to strengthen a single heart.

You can merge two hearts of the same level and same monster to create a higher grade heart, or you can use three hearts that are one level lower than the main ingredient to strengthen the main ingredient. Requires the use of a Lightforge, and two hearts from the same monster

Update 0.0.12

  • updating the harvesting charts in the Gloomwood. This is part of a much larger (but for now mostly behind-the-scenes) update to the crafting systems. The skills hit hardest by this update are alchemy and cooking, which have become much more expansive and useful, for when they are eventually explored. New quests may or may not be added to the Gloomwood in the future, to reflect the new available materials and offer new recipes.

Update 0.0.13

    Currency updates
  • The standard currency has been renamed to
  • The premium currency has been changed to
  • A system for redeeming Spectrum for goods will be available on every floor. The exact method to locating the vendor for these goods will be different in different locations, but it is, in most cases, a random occurrence.
  • Spectrum will now be awarded for accomplishing notable feats, reaching certain milestones and for participating in special events.
  • From now on, the first time that someone is present for the defeat of a boss, they will be given a one-time-only guaranteed access to the Spectrum vendor. This will only be true for the first dungeon boss that the character ever defeats, and only then if they have never met the Spectrum vendor before. Anyone who has already beaten a boss will be given this access upon their next defeat of a boss. The vendor will be located in the thread. This thread can only be posted in if a moderator has given you permission (officially) to proceed there. Your character has never been there before. They do not know what is inside. They are not forbidden from speaking about it after they have been there, or forbidden from someone telling them about it, but only if that person has themselves been there or been told about it. It is more than safe to assume that only player characters will ever have seen the vendor. It will not be written on the forums, it is not information that is available to the public. If a PC account has not directly told you about it, you will not know about it. Period.

    Artes updates
  • Arte masteries have been implemented, and retroactively awarded. Most artes, including most combat artes, will improve with use. Exactly how each arte improves can differ between artes and even from player to player. These differences will become more pronounced as the game progresses.

    Profile updates
  • Small cosmetic change to the profiles. In addition to the currencies being changed in name, the stats (Level, HP, and LP) have been moved down to rest just above the skill list, instead of above the equipment list.

    Account update
  • Every account now has two character slots. You may have two characters now, however they may never meet, because in order to log into one, the other must be logged out. Basically, you just have to make sure that your characters never run into each other or work together. Anyone found to be in conflict with this rule will face disciplinary action. There is no situation where it is okay for your characters to actually meet, though they may know each other 'off screen', meaning that they can know your character in roleplay, but cannot actually interact 'on camera'.
  • Your characters may freely trade items between themselves at any time, by making a post in the experience thread containing the details of the trade. In game, this is accomplished at a 'mailbox' located in each 'base camp' of every floor, though it can happen off-camera. If one character dies, they lose everything that they held except for the one item that they may give to another person upon death. Anyone found exploiting the trade system to try to get around this penalty will be stripped of all of their items, no matter who they are.

    System updates:
  • The game manual has been updated with a list of several available weapons and armors, accompanied by descriptions of how the weapons differ stat-wise, and what they specialize in.
  • Rookie starter weapons have been upgraded to have their special properties taken immediately into account, allowing more variety between starting characters. All existing weapons will be upgraded to factor these changes into their design, but this will take a small amount of time to accomplish for the current weapons in the system.

    Holiday update:
  • As of this moment, all characters existing are awarded 10 Spectrum, as a token of appreciation for playing ALICE Online.

This about wraps up the largest update in the history of ALICE Online. Thank you for playing, and we in the administration are looking forward to giving all players an exciting new year of growth for the game.
