The day had begun cool enough for Spring, but the warmth of a early Summer had made itself known by midday. A warm sun made Alayna mildly regret having a longer mane in months such as these, but the benefits of positive compliments far outweighed the aggravation. The air was muggy, and for once, she wished to trade out her luscious locks for her mate's wings. With them she could patrol the skies and get some much needed relief.

Shaking her large head, Alayna prowled around the plot of land she and Kiska called home in search of one who was not her mate. Rather, one who had been gifted to them both. Her sweet lover was off for the day with their other foals to give Alayna a chance to spend some one on one time with their son.

"Asli?" Alayna called out, looking about her. She pried apart thick foliage, sticking her snout into the barbed brush just to see if he was hiding. The colt seemed to have the same itch for adventure as herself, so Alayna worried that he might have already left without her. Gnawing on her bottom lip, she continued her search. "Asli? Come to me, dear, we're going to have some fun today."

The foal peered at her from between the branches of a tree with red eyes not unlike her own. He kneaded the branch under him in anticipation, claws scratching softly into the bark. He'd climbed the tree as far as he'd dared, still having some semblance of boundaries when it came to his safety. He probably wasn't much further from the ground than just over the top of his mother's head, but it had sent a shiver of adrenaline through him to look down and be to high up.

Whatever small bit of fear he'd felt climbing up here was gone, however, and now he was looking for mischief. He had heard his mother before seeing her and had crouched under the cover of the fresh spring growth as she poked about and called for him. He laughed silently to himself as she passed right by him, not thinking to look up. The game was quite funny - but then she promised they'd have some fun.

He remembered stories his mothers had told him about the exciting and often dangerous adventures the mares had gotten into and he ached with longing. He jumped excitedly from his perch, only crashing through a couple of branches and landing mostly on his feet. He'd call it a win.

"What kind of fun, mommy?"
