Let’s Get Textual! (just kidding)

I’ve been reading the Game of Thrones series, and have almost finished A Feast for Crows. I’m going to need something to occupy my brain once I finish the next book. It might be a while before Martin finishes the next one. :’( It's making my heart very sad, and I am not a patient individual.

So, help me out. What are you guys currently reading? Favorite book or author? Recommendations? I will read pretty much anything. I especially love YA novels for some reason, but also anything intellectual I will devour, especially if it pertains to psychology or the environment. Or scifi. You could throw a book at my face and I'd be happy hahahaha! (No jk, let's not throw books.)

Discuss. ^_^

Also I wasn't sure where to put this thread, so hopefully it's in the right place. Cheers!

I am the Fire Lucario, forever cursed by his flames

Well, i'm not reading any books currently but I have tried to track down Every Black Stallion book I can to read. I have read a total of 7 of the Black Stallion books and still looking for the remaining ones.

It's really odd, I got pulled into an american classic and before I knew it, I was reading every one of them I could find.

I read The Black Stallion but honestly didn't know that it was a series until now. I love timeless stories like that one, sort of like The Last Unicorn or The Neverending Story (though I think those are much older haha). Sometimes the prose can just be so innocent!

its been a long while since iv read a good book but theirs two that have been burned into my memory for about 10 years now... they probably wont feed that appetite of yours but they are pretty good books though probably quite short compared to game of thrones books...

The Transall Saga.
also known as Blue Light, is a 1998 novel by Gary Paulsen. It is a survival story like most of his other books, but also involves the science fiction genre with its post-apocalyptic setting, i think i liked it so much that i remembered the entire books story from when i first read it, then during an English lesson in highschool 5 years later where we had to write about i book i wrote about it from memory, then hired it out again afterwards when it finally appeared again XD i actually own a copy of it now too.

My Life in Dog Years.
a non-fiction book written by Gary Paulsen, The book contains a chapter about each different dog in his life. It focuses primarily on his non-dog sledding dogs, he delves into the personality of each dog as companions and not just animals, i found it to be one of those books with a story that is quite touching to some, it has its moments and its quirks every now and then but a good change of pace if your looking for something a little different.

and i don't know if the name "Gary Paulsen" sounds familiar but if it does its because he wrote the series called "Hatchet" which follows the survivor of a place crash named 'Brian Robeson'.

other then that their isnt much else that iv read i could speak of...

The name does sound familiar. I read Hatchet years ago, but I remember it pretty well and I remember enjoying it.
My Life in Dog Years sounds really interesting! I read The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein that took the perspective of a dog, and I adored it. That's an interesting perspective for an author to take.

I actually read "Hatchet" several years ago. It seems that the story actually continued, with the second book being two different books. The second in the series was your choice. If you read "Brian's Hunt" it continues as if he left his forest, returned to the city, then came back to re-visit. If you read "Brian's Winter" he stays behind in the forest and survives through the winter. I never read the third book though or remember the name.
