Kani hated being this close to the border. She hadn't even thought about anything outside of Matori since she had come back home, let alone dared to come so close to Oban territory. It made her skin crawl knowing that the oppressors her and her family had escaped from were nearly within walking distance from where she was now. She would have never come back under normal circumstances, but her father had insisted that they needed supplies from Baun. Why they couldn't just get their own supplies elsewhere, she wasn't exactly sure. Perhaps it was a ploy to get her out of the house in some small way. Her father always seemed so worried about that. Like the dutiful daughter she was she went anyway, despite her disdain for the journey. It wasn't comforting to be going at all, let alone by herself. There was a strong chance someone would try to speak to her while she simply wanted to grab the supplies and go. She had no time for idle chit chat, especially not when she had her father and brother waiting at home for her. She wasn't exactly sure they'd be able to function without her help. All the more reason for her to return quickly. Grumbling softly to herself, Kani began her search through the small village for the supplies her father had requested. There couldn't be too many shops around after all. Too concerned with hunting for the shop and leaving than what was going on in front of her face, it wasn't at all surprising when the young Matori girl slammed into someone in front of her. She landed with a huff on the ground - despite nearly being an adult she was still quite small after all. Just her luck someone would be in the way as a road block for her. Vy Sorry this is a little late!!

It was his fault. He really should have been paying attention, but instead he had ben frowning down at the crudely drawn map that would tell him how to get to Oba. So when he felt a body slam into him he jerked up, an apology already on his lips. "I'm sorry. I should have been paying attention." He looked down and realized he had run into a beautiful Matori girl with curly blue green hair and wide bright orange eyes. For a moment he could only stare and then he realized just exactly what he was doing. Flushing slightly and clearing his throat, he offered his hand. "Sorry about that. It's just m first time here, in Baun. I'm actually from Setal and..."And she hadn't asked him for his life story. He instantly clamped his mouth shut and looked nervously away. "Sorry, I was rambling." And how many sorries was that. He was certain she probably thought he was an idiot and he couldn't blame her. Instead he stood there and waited for her to take his hand, so he could get her to her fit and stumble away, trying to put his embarrassment behind him.

Kani hesitantly took the young man's hand, curious as to why he would apologize so much. She was the one in the wrong after all. She hadn't been looking whatsoever and now she had collided with the other Matori in front of her. Hardly his fault at all. After being helped to her feet, she quickly brushed herself off in an attempt to get the dust out of her clothes. Though some might not call what she was wearing clothes. The silken material clung to her and exposed all of her stomach, and the large slits on either sides of her skirt practically showed off all of her legs. Not exactly the most covering things, but for the coast of Matori it was nice to stay cool. If it happened to bother others then they would just have to deal. "There's uh...no need to apologize. I was the one not paying attention. I'm not really from around here either, nor do I want to be," she sighed, glancing around. She really didn't want to be there. "Baun is far too close to the border for my liking."

"Then we can both take the blame," Jelanii said, "Because I wasn't paying attention either. Too busy looking at this map." He waved the map and shook his head. "If this hadn't managed to get me hear, I would think for sure it was a scam."He smiled and then frowned as she spoke about being too close to the border. He nodded. "Yes, I couldn't agree with you more. Sometimes, I wish, Matori could just break away from that entire country, but I'm sure even if that happened, Oban's would find a way to make us suffer with their presence."Bitterness hung thickly on his words, but he forced himself to push it away. "Unfortunately, I'm actually on my way to Oba."

"It would be safer for us if we just broke away. Then there would be no more trying to use our people for everyone else's gain. We could finally be truly free," Kani sighed, wishing there was a way to get away from the Obans somehow. They had taken her mother away and really her will to do anything other than help her family. If it wasn't for the noble taking interest in her mother she may have lived a semi-normal life. Though that was a bit of a stretch since they would have still oppressed them. "Why would you want to go into Oba territory? That is incredibly dangerous, even if the war is over," Kani said, concern lacing her voice. She was sure he was out to get something by going there, but even so she was always concerned about her people crossing the border, even if she should be focusing on her own business.

Jelanii instantly liked the girl. It felt refreshing to hear those word. She was right. With the Oban just around the corner, how could they ever be truly free. Their freedom now was just an illusion, one that could be easily broken with the changing of a ruler. "I think we should go even further than that. Change this world so we don't have to go and seclude ourselves, but instead make it a world we can truly live in. Instead of worrying constantly if we'll be back in chains one day."Jelanii paused at the girl's question, but the girl was Matori like himself, so there was no reason to hide the information. He was just used to talking of his sister in a way to force his sister's image before their eyes. He wasn't use to talking to her, just normally. He felt his chest ache. "My sister. Twin sister. She...she was taken from me when I was a child. Now that the war if over and the Matori are no longer enslaved, I want to find her." He smiled sadly and grabbed the orange shell hanging from the leather strap around his neck. "This is all I have left of her."

"I've seen a shell similar like that before," Kani said softly, moving closer and touching the shell on the leather strap. She knew she had seen the shell somewhere before, but she was having the hardest time remembering where from. Leaning forward some to inspect it further, Kani didn't realize how close she was to the young man before her until she practically bumped her nose against his chest. "Oh sorry," she blushed, quickly taking a step back. "I'm just positive I know that shell from somewhere. What is your sister's name? Perhaps I have met her before." She was used to people coming in and out of her village looking to find their lost loved ones or return to their old homes. It was quite a common thing nowadays and she had helped many a soul in her time living there. Not that she particularly liked it. Vy Congrats again on Jelanii! He's a cutie. smile

OpticPeach Thank you! Scar got him down perfectly! When the Matori woman leaned forward to inspect his shell Jelanii's breath caught, but he wasn't sure if it was from what she said or the way her hair brushed over his chest as she leaned forward. Even her sweet scent wafted over him. He swallowed. She baked away from him, with a blush, which really just made her even lovelier. Were all pretty girls like this. Beauty in every movement, every tilt of their head. Focus! He pulled his thoughts back and just in time too. His eyes widened and everything else vanished at her words. He reached out, grasping her hand in his excitement. "You might have met her? Cerith! Her name is Cerith! When did you meet her? Do you know where she is now?"All this time h had heard little about his sister's whereabouts. Finally, he might just have a lead. It seemed too good to be true.

Kani squeezed his hand gently in hers, nodding as he said her name. She had bumped into the girl by the shore while they had both been collecting shells. She was definitely an interesting Matori to say the least. Jelanii seemed very enthused about finding the girl, so the least she could do was help him in some way. It was her duty to help after all, and she liked the guy. He was interesting to say the least, and if she was being honest quite handsome as well. "I have indeed met her. While I was collecting shells. We ended up bumping into each other and dropping everything," Kani explained, her hand still resting in his.

Jelanii couldn't believe what he was hearing. This girl he had literally ran into had met Cerith. His twin sister had spoken to the same woman he was speaking to now. After so many years of not knowing where his sister was and what her life had become, here and right now, he found a link. A link he would have walked right past. The excitement and shock of everything rolled over into a rush of exhaustion and he felt like he wanted to just plop down on the ground and try to take in everything. It felt like the only thing stopping him from doing just that was the slender hand in his, so delicate, but a sturdy lifeline. "I, please, can you...can you tell me about her," his voice came out soft. "I-I'm sorry. I didn't even ask your name and I'm already asking so much of you. I'm Jelanii."

Now that she thought about it she really hadn't introduced herself. Well wasn't that embarrassing to say the least. Generally she didn't exactly care because the ones she was helping were there to receive help and then move along, but Jelanii was a bit different. He hadn't really asked for help for anything. All he wanted to know was where his sister was. An honorable thing. If she had been split from her brother she would be fighting to do the same thing he was even if it was dangerous. "My name is Kani," she smiled at him before continuing to explain what she knew of Cerith. "She was trying to make it back home and got lost. I know that much. Also she's very pretty." She was struggling to figure out just what to say about the girl. She didn't really know what he wanted specifically so she was trying to offer up anything that came to mind. Vy So as far as the rp with Kani and Cerith goes, it hasn't gotten very far. I'm waiting for a response from Scar. smile So I didn't know how you wanted to proceed with this. ^^'

OpticPeach We can just go and be vague if you don't mind. We can play it that she honestly doesn't know much. "Of course she's beautiful," Jelanii said, thinking about his twin when she was younger. She had been the prettiest girl in their village, at least in his mind. He puffed up in pride, then quickly deflated. In his head, she was still the little girl from back then, but he knew that wasn't true anymore. She was a woman now. He chewed on the inside of his cheek. "Could you tell me how she looks now?" He asked and then realized how weird the request must seem. "I mean...it's just...It's been a long time since I've seen her. it might help me in my search," he explained. It wasn't just thought, but he desperately wanted every scrap of information he could get. He missed her. "Perhaps, if you have time, we could go somewhere to talk. I have so many things I would like to ask." And he was a little worried. She had gotten lost. Did she find her way? Was she even now heading back to their home and he had missed her on the way? There was so many questions and he knew Kani might not have the answers, but even a little information would help.

"We could perhaps discuss it over food? If you would like that is. I don't really have any other plans other than picking up what I needed, and if I can help you in any way then I will. It is my duty of course." Always talking about duty, that's what she did. Her parents had ingrained it into her and as much as she disliked interacting with people she did so anyway because it's what her parents expected. Even though her father told her she didn't have to work so hard, she did so anyway to make him proud. All people were out for something, and while she didn't like others because of it, Jelanii seemed different to her. Obviously he was out for something, but at least he was honest in what he wanted. She had no issue with that. It was the people who hid what they wanted. "As for appearance well...her hair is a lot longer than mine and more wavy than anything. It goes down to her waist! How can someone even manage that much hair? She also still has her shell like yours," Kani explained, gently lifting up the shell around his neck and brushing her finger against it. "It's on her forehead though. And oh, speaking of shells. She's not exactly a good shell hunter," she chuckled.

"Yes, a meal would be good. It is the least I can do for your help. It will, of course, be my treat." He looked around and then back at her with a half-smile. "I'm sorry, but I'm not really familiar with this area. Where would you recommend we eat? I'm quite willing to go wherever you like." Besides, he found her company quite pleasant. Even without the information she could give him about his twin, it was nice to meet a Matori that was kind and welcoming. Not that the others weren't, just they were very cautious and he could understand why. He had heard of Matorian who had betrayed their own kind, especially around the border towns. It seemed imaginable or at least it should have, but then with that his parent's had done, he suppose it happened far too often. His thoughts were interrupted as Kani began to describe his sister. He felt a slow smile curled his lips at her words. Long wavy hair and she still wore the shell they both found together. It warmed him. At least, maybe, that meant she kept him close in her memories, like he did her.

"Oh I couldn't allow that. I'll pay for my own food. It would be too much trouble for you to pay for both of us," Kani said, smiling at the Matori. She didn't want to owe him anything either. While he may not say she did, she would feel as if she needed to repay him someway or another. "I do know of a decent place farther into the village. It's small, but their food has been enjoyable every time I've gone. I can take us there if that sounds acceptable." She hardly made it out of her home most days, so she wasn't exactly a good judge on food to say the least. She did all the cooking for her family and whether they liked it or not they never said so. The small tavern she spoke of was a frequent stop for travelers so from time to time she ended up there to help people in return for food or goods for her family. She just hoped Jelanii didn't mind it too much. His company had been refreshing and far more welcomed than most others she dealt with.
