Today promised to be a much calmer day. It was still overcast at best (the kingdom was never going to have a sunny day- Chel was sure of that because if it did it would get rid of the gloomy vibe the kingdom had going for it). That meant it was clear and the cliffsides weren't going to be insanely slippery once they got there.
"You actually been pretty good the past few days," Chel said to her horse, clenching and unclenching a fist that a green kingdom scholar had so kindly wound up for her. It still felt a little raw, but being a knight that sought power she didn't really have time to rest and reflect. She reflected upon her journey during the journey, always moving at a breakneck speed.
Her horse backed away and she gave it a smug smile. "Yeah well, never change." Better to have a predictably fussy horse than an unpredictable one. He seemed somewhat offended by her statement, unsure of what to do with himself.
Chel planted a foot in the stirrup and looked to the castle exit. She was still unsure on a horse, but was getting better. It was sort of an exponential learning curve since day one was sharp cliffs. There wasn't really room for her to figure it out, it was just kind of "okay go." QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 30 YOUR HP: 30/30

Being it was clear out, Chel noticed a lot more on the cliffside than she had the days prior. There were actually quite a few wildflowers growing on the talus slops. Things she wouldn't have expected to see like maiden's hair and wild briar.
In fact it was kind of strange that anything was growing so high up at all. As she traveled downwards, she noted a strange vine species that was seen more and more frequently the further out from the castle she went. It snaked around rocks and it bit at the cliffside, threatening to overtake it.
She didn't think much of it at the time, being that her mind was on the man with the scarred lip. Was it really so much of a coincidence that they were so identically scarred? Was their blonde hair, blue eyes and similar attitude really so accidental?
But it would be strange to dwell on it. She couldn't assume every blonde haired blue-eyed stranger was somehow tied to her by destiny and fate. Still, it was something to ponder. Maybe even just as hoping to be closer friends. That was probably what she was feeling; a further desire for friendship. She'd had it in the small one (Noemi was it?) and the man in the green kingdom. It wasn't unusual.QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 30 YOUR HP: 30/30

While introspecting, Chel accidentally knocked one of her bags off a cliff.
She cursed, but continued onwards. There was no use crying over spilled milk.
Splat.
Oh that was quite literally the milk.QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 28 YOUR HP: 30/30

The forest she entered was no so much a forest as it was a thick, thick bramble of thorns. It was as though someone had taken a magnifying glass to a rose stem and spread it out over the land like spaghetti. Huge tangling things with pointy ends everywhere she looked.
She patted her horse, who was staring at the messy unsuredly. "You can do it. You gone through worse buddy." The horse once again took offense at the encouragement, and took off through the roses at a pleasant trot.
She almost missed it since it was hidden under a great big fuzzy leaf, but Chel murmured, "Woooah." There was a small shiny object on the side of the road, and being that Chel was a vagabond, she intended to investigate.
However, upon approaching she found that it was actually a spider. A really big spider. A spider that was using its gross legs and crawling towards her. She shrieked (which seemed a natural response) and quickly commanded Tenebrae to run. In the scramble, one of the vine thorns tore her saddle bag. There was simply no time to go back and retrieve it, as the spider was gaining.

The cave opened up before her, and the vines were pulsing. Chel could see their insides transporting something, and a soft luminescence from the vines lit her way into the cave.
Overall there was nothing particularly remarkable. Dead bodies seemed to be the vines sustenance, but the vines didn't move at all or make a motion to attack. In fact, part way through Chel found some extra food.
She wondered if this cave went on forever or if there was a point to the death vines.QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 33 YOUR HP: 30/30

Eventually the thorns curled downwards into a bowl shape, and in the center a pair of bottoms sat.
Awesome.
