Another day, another quest. Rei have been wanting to change his patchwork tabard for AGES...seemingly, since he cannot remember his past before being an apprentice knight.

So as usual, he waltzed into the library and picked up the lore book. Few hours later, he has gotten all things he needed for a quest---

-minus food. Since the supply has been dwindling steadily because of apprentice knights like him wasting them on futile journeys, the old cook can only give him leftovers.

What a bad start.

Step 1: The Trek Forwards

He carefully selected a MULE this time. As precaution, he put horseglasses on it, so the mule would not flee from him.

BUT ALAS POOR YORIC...no, poor him. As he walked with the mule in tow, a beehive dropped down from nowhere, causing the burden beast to flee in panic...

-and some painful stings on Rei.

Step 2: The Winding Forest
As if the matter couldn't be much worse, he got lost in the usual forest due to rainstorm. The water causes the food to be wet, and in turn quickly rotting. The thick fog and damp weather doesn't help.

Step 3: The Dwarven Mountains

The mountains...

Screw this, he gave up. All the food in the bag has been rotten. What's left are only water and wine.

So once again, screw this, I'm going back.
-while drunk.

Rei managed to reach the forest before collapsing of hunger. In his last attempt of saving his life, he ate a poisonous mushroom, capable of making people sleep for weeks.

And thus he blanked out.

He woke up and found himself back at the barracks. Apparently some Knight has seen him collapsing in the woods from eating sleeping mushroom, which is comparatively safe than the ones next to them.

After finding those knights and thanking them profusely, he headed straight back to the pantries and requested MORE supply than before.

That TABARD will be his.

Step 1: The Trek Forwards

Since the last quest failure's entirely on the horse, he decided NOT to bring one this time. Screw horses, he'll add two more layers of soles into and below his greaves and that'll do.

Unfortunately, that causes his footing to be terrible. As he tried to climb down a ravine, the large bag filled with food causes him to lost his balance and slipped! He rolled down into the ravine headfirst---

But WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK HE IS. Yep, he's...

-no one. Just another replaceable apprentice knight with no whatsoever value.

As he realized that the only one he can rely on is indeed himself, he pulled out his weapon and unfurled it, stabbing one end in the cliffside and stepping on the other end. After traveling down few meters in that state, he finally stopped.

-but at a price. His tabard, which is patchwork from the start became rag. Also, the scythe opened a hole on his foodbag, causing some dried prunes to fall off into the abyss.

BUT HE LOVES DRIED PRUNES! Aww.

Step 2: The Winding Forest
"Dried Prunes..." he muttered in low spirits.

After getting himself out from the trouble, his mind keep being fixated in those small, delicious, tangy but sweet morsels which ended up lost in the depths of the earth.

As the result of him dozing off, he got lost inside the forest for DAYS. The foods inside the bag started to rot, thus has to be consumed faster.

Step 3: The Dwarven Mountains.

Exhausted and angry at his own wrongdoing, Reith climbed the mountains using the power of rage as fuel.

Literally. He cursed and swore all the way from the forest exit to the familiar mountain. But this time he triggered something worse than the usual axe trap due to his stomping---

As his curses suddenly cut short by the soft 'click' sound from beneath his feet, a far sound of something hard hitting each other can be heard. At first it's just like someone dropped a stone far behind the corridor.

-but the sound quickly catches up to him.

SLAM SLAM SLAM SLAM SLAM

"OH WOE!" He grieved. The walls are slamming down! He ran like he has no tomorrow (literally) but at the end the walls caught up to him. Both luckily and UNluckily, the bag of food which got caught on the trap jammed the inner contraption built on the wall.

The bad news is, his already dwindling food got cut right into two.

He...made it.

He actually made it this time. The food in his bag will not last the return trip, but he can forage wild things if push comes to shove.

The treasured object, as usual, are worn by a dwarf statue. This one's seemed to be...looking down on him?

He retrieved the fabled tabard, colored in patterns of green, black and blue according to the myth it was based-on: The Greater Tabard of World-Tortoise.

He quickly wore it. Immense strength starts flowing back into his worn body, as if he were instantly rejuvenated on the spot.

...but he is still hungry.

And lo and behold! The defensive power! He is practically jaywalking against all the traps on the way back!

...but he is still hungry.

And the smell! Oh, that earthly smell of petrichor! It seems the cloth woven in the tabard are indeed magical!

"...BUT SMELL DOES NOT FILL STOMACH!!!" he retorted to no one.
