Maple was unsure how she had managed to gather up the courage to attempt a quest of her own. She had overheard a few of the other knights regal their ventures out. Maybe since so many others had done it, perhaps it was something even she could do.
So, the young black night wordlessly headed towards the stables area and saddled up one of the many horses present. She watched a few of the others to see what other provisions they packed with them and did the same, namely food. Travelling out didn't seem all too bad really, the scenery was rather nice and the horse seemed to be well tempered enough that she was able to trust it even though they had been just antiquated.
Maybe it was a little too good to be true then, because all of a sudden Maple just felt awful. Sickness. On the road.
Yup, dysentery.

It had been some time before Maple felt better, less... everything hurting. It probably would have been the ideal thing to deter her from setting out again but it didn't. Perhaps she felt that she needed to do the quest properly, to at least do it right once.
So, Maple once again headed to the stables, saddled up a horse and got herself a reasonable amount of provisions before she set out once more.QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 26 YOUR HP: 30

The terrain greeted her again, it was almost familiar to her and this time Maple made sure to keep out for anything odd - that had perhaps given her such an upset stomach. Nothing seemed out of place, it seemed. But, as her attention had been settled on everywhere aside what was in front of it, the black knight didn't realize that she was heading straight into a bee hive.
It startled the horse, it reared and knocked her off the ground from the swarm that greeted them. Maple let out a cry, managed to save some of her food but in the end she was stranded without her steed.

No, there was no ill feeling with her bowels this time around but Maple almost felt like she was about to choke on her meal when she saw a gigantic spider on her path in the forest. That she managed to swallow, but in her fright, she dropped a few more morsels of food as she fled further down the path.QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 21-10 = 11 YOUR HP: 30

If a forest maze wasn't enough, now Maple had found herself at the confusing mountain. It was apparent that many others had dared to enter the path, their destroyed and decaying bodied littered the ground she now walked on. (And once again, Maple regretted life choices).
There were noises up again, weren't there? Maple could almost hear some, she was sure of it and in her attempt to strain to hear them properly (and see if she should run the other way) she didn't notice the trap she was about to step on.
Giant axes began to swing from the walls, blocking her path at intervals. This was another situation that should have easily made her run. But then it would have been back into the forest. Maple just ran straight through with a wail and flailed. Somehow she managed to make it through with only a few scrapes.QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 11-5 = 6 YOUR HP: 30 - 5 = 25

She was so close, she realized as she looked ahead of her. Maple trudged on, losing more and more food, so close to being down to nothing but she was so close to the summit. Just a few more steps.
The black knight let out a small cry of joy when she saw where the artifact was waiting her. It looked so beautiful, even though she had no idea what it exactly was.
Sadly, only a few feet from her destination, eagles decided to strike down from the air and attack her. Again, Maple decided to deploy flailing tactics to get them away. It might have worked, or the birds had determined she wasn't worthwhile to pursue, because they were gone as soon as they had arrived leaving more scratches and gashes.
She hurt. But she was finally free from turmoil and had her hands on a beautiful black mantle adorned with dahlia flowers.
