The great thing about being sent out on a quest alone was that it was just Drona, her horse, and the open honesty of nature. She liked not having to worry about stepping on some privileged snob's toes as they traveled. Alone was comfortable. Alone was good.
She packed up her saddlebags and patted the horse on the nose. She'd taken to calling it Jaja, and the name gave her a warm feeling in her chest. She was almost desperate to cling to that feeling, though she didn't understand what caused it.
They rode out swiftly, with orders to return as fast as possible. While she couldn't promise that it would go without a hitch, she hoped at least they'd avoid many of the time-sucking hurdles. QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 24 YOUR HP: 30

They stopped first at a rocky outcrop with a pretty view of a small patch of flowers. Drona intended to enjoy some of the bread she'd brought along with her while she let the horse graze. Unfortunately, the wildlife had other plans.
At first it was just a few bees that seemed intrigued by her beast of a mount. But then they quickly multiplied into a buzzing swarm that pulsated with anger. Drona stood, intending to rescue her poor horse, but it had already taken off. It made distressed noises as it galloped into the horizon, chased by the cloud of insects.
It was afterwards that Drona found the small incomplete hive that the horse had crushed as it explored the flowers.
She'd be on foot for the rest of the trip, it seemed.QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 19 YOUR HP: 30

The path by foot was much more arduous, but Drona soldiered on. If she could just get the treasure and get back, she'd be one more step closer to proving she'd be a good knight. The promotion would be worth it, if only.
She kicked up dust as she walked, trying to entertain herself on the long journey. With her head turned down she completely missed the abandoned sack until she was already tripping over it.
Some items fell out - mostly dense and burnt rolls. Upon further inspection she found that most of the food appeared to be burnt or misshapen, like they were rejects from a shop that had prided themselves on their appearance. She wasn't going to picky about what she ate, though. She quickly added the new supplies to her remaining stores, excited to have new food. QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 24 YOUR HP: 30

She was getting closer. She could tell because the path was getting scarier. She entered into a massive labyrinth that was littered with dead and decaying things everywhere, and horrific roaring moans in the distance. She had to steel herself to continue on.
She was a knight.
Or at least, she would be. This wouldn't get in her way.
With a deep breath she carried on, taking it slow and careful. But, not careful enough. As she took another step something depressed under her foot and she heard stones shifting. Out of the wall poured sleek black snakes, hissing and showing intimidating threat displays.
She backed away, then turned and ran. The snakes were faster than she expected, though, and bit at her heels and legs. She hissed in pain but didn't let it stop her from running.
She just had to keep going until she reached the treasure. She'd come to far to stop now. QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 19 YOUR HP: 20

She burst through the end of the labyrinth and sighed in relief. She was safe, she'd made it. She saw her prize just a few steps away - it appeared colorful, but before she could take it she was attacked.
Between the talons and the feathers she figured they were massive birds, but there was too much chaos to see anything else. She used her glaive to viciously beat them away, but she was not left without her own damage.
Sore and tired, she took the garish leggings and started back on the journey home.QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 19 YOUR HP: 10
