STEP 2: HERE AND BACK AGAIN

Now, this is an survival rp exercise. The requirement to get a successful artifact is you must post 600 or more words, follow one of each step, and not run out of food. )

- At the start of the quest, each player in your party must roll 5d10 Add up all party member's values. That is the amount of food they carried with them. If your party runs out of food, you will have to head home, it's no good to die out there in the wild... (QUEST FAILED, RETRY AGAIN).

- If your Knight runs out of HP they PASS OUT and are considered OUT of this quest. That means they do not get the award. A group can choose to continue on without him/her or head back and abandon quest to redo.

- If you are doing this with a group, EACH person of the party must roll for each stage once before progressing to the next stage. If there is no post after 8 ooc hours, then you can skip them and they are considered KO'ed.

- Now, all players get one extra reroll. That means if you are solo OR group, and you do not like your roll, you can reroll ONCE. This applies to PER player.

- If you have attempted and FAILED this three times in a row, you may skip all the dysentery rolls meaning, if you roll for that, reroll instantly. This only works for the next expedition you do, and after that resets back to no skips.

- Please make sure ALL party members add this to their ooc post:

Rolling a 5: Somehow, you made it safely. Somehow.
Rolling a 6: An old man claiming to be a wizard hands you some food. Thanks, you guess? +10 food.

Dirge had to prove himself worthy now, it was his big opportunity. Those things were just knocking at his doorstep, waiting to be slain by him. Dirge couldn't wait to knock their skulls around, maybe do some really cool maneuver and kill a bunch of them at once. He craved to be noticed by the Knights, be given his Sacred Weapon - then he would be incredibly amazing.

Then they'd recognize him, they'd sing songs about him, maybe erect a statue. That'd be really cool.

Dirge was wary of the darkness, but not scared. If something popped out at him, if one of those things popped out at him, they'd be speared in a second and he would most definitely brag about it back in Camelot.

He was not, however, in any way, shape, or fashion prepared to ride directly into a nest full of bees. You couldn't spear bees.

The horse was gone instantly, and Dirge could only grunt and bear it. This would only make for a better story, right? Yeah, going the whole way on foot was far better for an epic tale.

Walking alone through everything, the darkness, the rocky terrain, the piles of things he didn't quite care to know about, was tiring and made a growing knight apprentice incredibly hungry. Famished, even. Enough so to make Dirge pause and settle on a stump, pulling a crust of bread and some sort of dried meat thing out of his bag and nibble on it pensively.

It had been such a shock when everything went dark, when he remembered that the darkness had always been there; that the darkness was the whole reason he'd come to Camelot. They'd always fought the darkness, the horsemen and their twisted creatures. How could he just forget something like that? It was odd, was it not? Shouldn't such a threat be at the forefront of his mind?

He supposed paying attention to his surroundings should have been at the forefront of his mind at the time, since he hardly escaped becoming a fresh meal for a massive tarantula.

Dirge always approached the cavern with more caution than any other parts of the quest that very oddly all seemed to go in the same direction. Maybe the horsemen were not very smart and just hid their artifacts all in the same places. Or maybe the outside of Camelot was all just very similar. Who knew, really?

He had to stop again, pulling out another snack. Hoofing it was not at all fun.

The darkness of the cavern was never a comfort, but it at least offered shelter from the horsemen...or at least he hoped it did. Hundred of those twisted fiends crawling through the dank tunnels would definitely set off traps, and most definitely get them killed in short order. Or so he hoped.

He also hoped he could out speed a snake. Why did it have to be a snake?

Somehow, Dirge did manage to escape the snake. It had taken a lot of running, some kicking, more running, and even a few choice swear words, but he'd done it, and that was all that mattered. Now, he just had to get up the rest of the mountain without an eagle attack or suddenly feeling incredibly queasy, and he'd be fine.

Perhaps, Dirge thought as he saw the food falling out of his knapsack, he should not have practically ran up the mountain. A calm approach would have been better, would have resulted in success. No one was going to erect a statue of him if he continued to lose the castle's food supplies.

The horse ran from Dirge when he tried to hitch it outside the cavern. He sighed, but pressed on. He'd hoofed it once already, he could do it again.

Unfortunately, 18 year olds are very excitable and prone to clumsiness always. And they lose the food some not dead stranger had left for them, along with the rest of the food.
