Some people seem to be set on being tortured. Caoineadh seemed to be one of them. She had managed to get her new mantle, which to be honest fit rather nice, like a second skin if one wanted to be funny about it. Now she was back in the guild hall again looking for something else. A new quest, something to give her days meaning once more. With all of this in mind, she moved to look at the board and see what was new for a Apprentice Knight. Need something to do? Help the King find the Greater Gauntlet of the Viper!Greater? Why were all of these greater? She smirked a little and picked the notice off the board heading to see the guild master about going out again. Should it have offended her that the Guild master seemed to be laughing at her when he handed her the bag of food and provisions? THEY say that when one gets used to doing something over and over, they get better at it. THEY are liars. Caoin managed to avoid animals, avoid bees and not get hurt.. but stopped to drink at a puddle and ended up sick as... well not to offend any animals sick as a dog. Okay, the last try was bad. The good thing was, Caoin was feeling much better and had it in her mind that nothing was going to stop her. If only she didn't have to take the darned horse. It helped with the food but she no longer trusted them after her foray out on her first quest. They had this bad habit of running away. Still she loaded up her saddle bags with the food from the guild and started on her way. Off to get her new helmet... I mean the kings new helmet. The day seemed so lovely. Birds singing, the sun shining and even the ride seemed to be going well. It was almost enough to make one want to nap in the saddle, but that was not a good idea. Uh oh! The third time is the charm... yes this time she would at least make it down the first road. Heh... no more eating strange things right? The guild master was not amused it seemed. She was getting less food each time she headed out. Maybe it was just to keep her from getting sick? With a deep suffering sigh she started to ride down the path. Okay though it was a bit more dim today, with the sun hidden behind some clouds and a hint of rain in the air, it wasn't too bad. Dismounting seemed like a good idea. She slid off the horse and looked around. The trail was narrow here and it wasn't smart to keep riding so close to the edge. The best thing she could do was to walk. Guiding the horse she moved slowly, but unfortunately not careful enough. She let go of the reigns just in time to prevent taking the horse with her as she tripped into a small ravine. Out of her pack some of the supplies fell, hopefully she would not loose too much.

As she pulled herself back to the trail she took account of what she had lost. Ugh, so much gone already and she barely made it to the forest. Taking account she shook her head in disbelief was there a curse on her? Caoin could only hiss between her teeth as she closed her pack and got back on the horse. They were going into the forest and she didn't want to risk just dropping something else. There were supposed to be a lot of troubles in this forest but for her it seemed that the troubles were not waiting for her. As she moved into the woods she found a small bag filled with mixed berries and nuts. This would certainly help her on the way. It really made up for what she had lost when she had fallen into the ravine and she would be able to go on a lot farther with the help. With a silent thanks to whoever it was that had gathered the supplies and just left them, she moved on her way. She did leave a gold coin behind though. If it was the work of someone she had scared off, it would not do to insult them by stealing what was not hers. If she was going to end up running into something dangerous, this is likely where it would be hiding. The mountains were looking particularly forbidding on this day. Caoin soothed her steed and looked up at the peaks far ahead of her. Her goal would be at the top of one of them, and she was not sure how much father her faith would carry her. She had to do this though, she had taken the task upon herself and it needed to be done. Dwarves lived here and where there were dwarves there would be traps. It would have been a good idea to think of that before she started climbing and poking around where she didn't belong. Heading through a tunnel that had to have been made by something other than nature she tried to take a short cut. Bad idea really, a large blade swung down, clipping her on the shoulder before she rolled out of the way. At least her head was still there. Hurrah! The summit was ahead and Caoin was tired. She had bandaged her arm as well as she was able, she had managed to keep her horse through all of the trials, and was now on her way to the location marked on her map. Ahead was the helm and she was going to take it back with her. As she moved down a small path leading to what seemed almost like a shrine she met and old man. "Uh, greetings old sir, what brings you here?" She asked as gently as she could, removing her beaten helmet to show her face and put him at ease as well as she could. The old man just mumbled something and gestured for her to be seated and eat with him... he had a rather nice looking meal already made, of roasted... something.. it looked like a kind of vegetable. When she sat down and ate he just watched her. Maybe this was a bad... no.. it wasn't a bad idea, she felt so much better and he smiled warmly before patting her on the hand and walking away leaving behind some more food. Huh.. how would the guild master react when it was noted that she came back with more food than when she left? Hah.. no need to punish her for her illness before! Caoin smiled a bit and headed forward to take her prize. The King was sure to be pleased.. she had the Greater Helmet of the Viper and was going home!
