She'd never seen Jericho look so tired, and removed the food from his back to let him walk the rest of the way. He did not walk, he ran. Something she'd eaten, or tasted, or touched had her sicker than she'd ever felt before - not that she could remember far enough back to make such a comparison. She returned to the castle on horseback, laying over the back of her horse like a sack of flour. STEP FOUR Quote: Rolling a 4: Just as you're about to touch the artifact, you catch some medieval version of dysentry and feel extremely sick. You need to be sent home IMMEDIATELY (QUEST FAIL for that person, they will have to retry again either single or with another group).

After a thorough cleansing, and several hours of rest, Riley chose to test herself anew. This time, however, she made sure to bring plenty of her own supplies. The feel of boiling within her stomach had been torturous, and she was going to do anything in her power to keep herself from having to feel it again.
She also refused to touch anything but her own items, and her horse, as they rode through the plains and towards the forest. There was no telling what could have triggered such an illness, so she played it safe.

Before she could make it to the forest, the chasm between mountains needed to be traveled. She'd gone through with relative ease once before, but this time left her less sure of her footing. She slid down until her feet could catch on the rocks, and stop her progress down into certain death. She held on to the cliff face and took a moment to let her heart calm down, finding her peace by the sight of a beautiful sky above her. Anything was better than looking down. STEP ONE Quote: Rolling a 1: You accidentally slip, almost fall to your demise off a mountain cliff, and drop some of the food! Roll 1d6 to see how much food you lost. When she arrived at the top of the cliff face, her horse was waiting there for her, chewing on a half-dead shrub. She groaned and unhooked her satchel, checking a quick inventory to see what she'd lost. The answer was more than she'd hoped for - a great chunk of the food she'd brought had been sacrificed to the ravine's dark, seemingly bottomless pit. What a waste. Again, Jericho seemed exhausted. This came almost immediately after Riley decided to re-attach the satchel of food to the horse, since she had proven herself inept at holding on to it. Unfortunately, she cared too much for the well-being and happiness of her horse to let it suffer. When she unhooked the satchel and swung it over her shoulder again, Jericho canted forward and shook, before bolting off again. She did not seem worried. The horse was entitled to exercise, and happiness. As long as she didn't fall down anymore ravines, she would be fine until the end. The road ahead was clear, but she was burdened with the extra weight of all of her food. She saw Jericho several times during her travel, but not once did she consider calling him back to take the burden of food again. It was hers because she needed it, and so why would she force him to carry it for her? The horse thrived on freedom, and she gave it exactly what it wanted. While it was wonderful to find a crate of food on the side of the road, her excitement waned when she fit all of the food into her satchel and realized just how much heavier it was now. At least she was used to carrying things.. Despite the slow going, her second quest seemed to be going relatively well. She put down her satchel when she arrived at the crest of the mountain, preparing to climb the highest peak. As she neared it, she caught sight of a circling band of eagles that were rounding the top over and over, as if they were waiting for something. Or someone - and in this case, her. As soon as she reached the top, they attacked. She'd never been attacked by birds before, and her hands flew up into her face to protect it; making her lose her balance enough to slide halfway down the hill until she could stop herself. The eagles returned to circling when she fell, but as she neared it again they swooped down to attack. This time, she kept one hand on the mountain, and the other was used to shoo them away. They kept on attacking all the way until she reached up and felt the shift of cloth against her hand; the mantle, the artifact she'd come for. The eagles gave up the moment she'd claimed her prize with touch, and she was free to admire it's beauty. It was all white, with one blooming calla lilly on it's face. She couldn't have asked for a better mantle to replace her tattered robes with. STEP FOUR Quote: Rolling a 1: Giant unexplainable eagles start attacking you! Ow! You take -10 damage for yourself.
