Leev looked down at the map in her hand. A proper quest, it seemed. A fair bit of travel. Ok. She was prepared for this. She was made for this. Her horse was given a pat on the neck. "Shall we?" Not that the horse had any choice in the matter. It was already to go, even had her supply packs strapped to the saddle already. A saddle which Leev climbed into. Time to retrieve an artifact. [Step 1] The journey started out well enough. Not quite pleasant, but not horrible. Rocky mountain hills, up and down slopes, and chilly wind all rolled by at a steady pace. The first few hours of her quest passed in a nice easy way. A fork in the road. Leev double checked the map before continuing on. Toward a forest, it would seem. She supposed that might be pleasant, too. She kicked her horse up into a trot. crunch Something gave way under the horses hooves. Not the ground, but something that had been resting on the little used path. A very ominous buzzing filled the air, followed by horse shrieks. "No, no," Leev did her best to calm the beast, but bolted anyway. Towards the forest, actually. Which meant trees. Trees meant branches. And it was a branch that tore Leev from the saddle. The bees followed the horse, leaving Leev and her pack all alone in a quiet, dark forest. Quote: Rolling a 3: You accidentally ride into a bees nest. BEEEEES. [Step 2] The forest was big, dark, and filled with little noises. The path was winding and a little treacherous. Leev coughed and continued on. ((I am re-rolling this because : / ) Quote: Rolling a 4: You catch some medieval version of dysentry and feel extremely sick. [Step 2] Luckily her cough turned out to be nothing. The forest without a horse was a very long trek. Leev settled herself down on a fallen tree for her midday meal. Simple bread, really. Two bites into it something huge scurried across the trunk towards her. She let out the most undignified squeal and dropped her food. She managed to pick up the pack before running away. [Step 3] She was glad to leave the forest. "Hm." She was glad, until she got a better look at the path ahead. Skeletons and armor, more spiders, and strange sounds. This place was nothing short of ominous. Leev wasn't one to let the atmosphere get to her, though. She just readjusted her pack and continued on. She just had to watch out for traps and the like. It was pretty clear some of these bodies had fallen pray to such things. The roar was deafening. It echoed through the cavern and the walls shook as it did so. Leev turned to see fire given form headed straight towards her. There was no way she could fight it. None. So she turned tail and ran. Quote: Rolling a 4: You hear a horrific roaring noise and when you look behind you you see a terrifying beast made of fire chasing you! In your horror you lose half the remaining caravan food. [Step 4] According to the map she was not far from her goal. But her supplies were nearly out. There was no way to reach the end of her trail AND return safely. But she now knew the way. The next time she would be better prepared. Leev stared at the distant mountain (the one she was certain the map was pointing her towards) and then turned to head home. It was with a measured amount of shame that Leev repacked her bags. She would complete this quest, of that she had no doubt. A knight would always complete their quest or die trying. ... Leev tried not to think about that. "Now this time," she said to her horse (who had been waiting for her when she returned) "No running off, okay?" QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 32 YOUR HP: 30

[Step 1] Her pony seemed fine with heading out again, and Leev found the first part of the journey just as pleasant as she had the last time. A little more relaxing, maybe, since she knew where she was going. clip clop! The sounds seemed to echo in the canyon below, and off the stones around. The wind whistled around, tugging at Leev's hair and clothes. The horse shook it's it head, and then gave a little jump. A jump that nearly sent Leev's pack into the canyon. [Step 1.5] Leev grabbed the pack and watched sadly as some of her supplies disappeared into the gorge below. She let out the heaviest sigh she could. "At least you didn't bolt this time," she told her pony, giving it a pat. The horse nickered in response, and the pair carried along the way. Leev hoped the fact that she had brought extra food would be enough to make up for that loss. [Step 2] The forest loomed before them. Her horse stamped and snorted. They'd parted ways in this forest before, and Leev had no idea what the creature had dealt with after their separation. "Something bad?" she asked the horse. The horse only whinnied and kicked. Leev dismounted and tried her best to calm the beast, but it would have none of it. Every step Leev took towards the forest only made things worse. Much worse. The animal was very upset at the prospect of continuing. "Very well." Leev removed her pack from the animal's back. "You can wait here or return home. Your choice." She gave the horse another affectionate pat, and then turned and walked into the forest. It was just as dark and quietly noisy as she remembered. [Step 3] Leev stayed on the path this time, since she wasn't deposited in the forest by a bolting horse. The path was uneven, overgrown, but did indeed show signs of wear. And not just from her last venture here. Others. Animals and men. It was hard to tell just how long ago the men had been by, and Leev cared little about the fact anyway. She was far more concerned with the spiders she knew dwelt here. She could see them, from time to time, climbing in the trees. One even scurried across her path, causing her to freeze in place for a few moments. But over all, her walk through the forest was, not wholly unpleasant. The walk in the labyrinth in the mountain, however, was much more uncomfortable. Still ominous, what with all the ancient (and less ancient) dead lying around. She moved slowly, quietly, not wanting to attract the attentions of the beast as she had before. No. Such things should be avoided. She had made it quite some way when she noted something curious. A crate labeled "supplies". It looked new. Leev took a moment to investigate, and to her delight she found usable goods. "You can never have too many supplies," she whispered. It was best to be prepared for anything. [Step 4] Leev, before she knew it, found her self out of the death maze, and standing before a mountain. Well, she was already mostly up it, apparently that small incline she'd noticed hadn't been her imagination. The maze had spit her out only a few hundred feet from the summit. A long and taxing few hundred feet. She had to climb, actually hands-and-feet-climb up parts of it. It was difficult, it was slow, and when she finally heaved herself over the edge and onto the top of the mountain she collapsed in joy and relief. She was done. She'd made it. An old man face grinned down at her. "Hello?" Leev asked, very slowly (and a little out of breath). The man grinned back, saying some nonsense about being a wizard. He was a very nice wizard, actually. He even insisted she take some extra food with her for her journey home. Leev thanked the man, and then went over to retrieve what she'd been sent to get. She scooped up the tabard and then turned to begin the journey home. It was faster than the journey there, thought only by so much. She still had to take some parts slow. But her horse had waited for her, so the last leg of the journey went rather quickly. Leev was very satisfied with how her first quest ultimately turned out.
