The sun was getting lower on the horizon, making it harder to keep traveling with it hitting her in the face. But Cassiopeia kept going until changing her course slightly into the more wooded pathways. Taking a deep breath of the pine scent of trees and more rich earthy scents, she felt a tension leave her shoulders that the mare hadn't been aware was there. The woods always made her feel relaxed, though. The scents were calming and the sounds made everything feel so alive.

Shaking her head and blinking as her eyes adjusted to the twilight of the forest, Cassi found herself stepping with more rhythm to her walk. Her music was the forest itself. It wasn't as if she was going to find the Vanaras herd tonight, she figured. It didn't seem like she had traveled far enough. Or deep enough into the forest itself.

Cassi let her steps carry her where they would, hips swaying and head moving in time with her hooves. A big smile graced her lips and as the sun truly set and the first beams of the moon began to shine, so too, did the ringlets along her body. It gave her dance an eerie yet mesmerizing aura to it. Anyone that passed by would most likely thing her to be some sort of phantom at first with the way she moved and the faint glowing of her markings.

The stallion stared at the sky, his golden eyes becoming brighter and brighter as the sun sank lower. He was still more accustomed to travelling by night, his eyes far better adjusted to the gloom. Still, he roused himself by mid-day to begin his trek each day and went far into the night. He needed to cover ground if he was to ever catch up to the mare he was tracking. Still, when the sun was out he kept to the trees to stay out of the blinding light. He'd been traveling for hours now, and was happy to see the sun begin its decent to the horizon, though this was the time of day it was the most blinding.

He closed his eyes, breathing deeply the scents of the forest and listening to the rustle of the wind in the trees. He tried to find peace, but couldn't. He'd only left his herd two days before and there was still the sickening twisting of his stomach when he thought about what he had done, and what he was trying to do. He could still turn back, of course. He could make some sort of excuse. He was the Prince, after all, and heir to the throne. The only obstacle was Demeira. He had wronged her, but at least he had told her of his intentions. His honor hadn't allowed him to simply abandon her with no explanation. However that also had ensured that everyone would know what he had done. They were undoubtedly looking for him, or maybe they had disinherited him entirely. He didn't care to think too hard about it. He simply willed himself to move forward.

What lay ahead of him was equally uncertain and terrifying. He had blindly chased after this mare and he had no idea what she would think of the gesture or what she thought of him. Their interaction had been limited, forbidden as it was. He couldn't even explain his own impulse to find her once he had found out she'd left. He couldn't explain anything anymore.

He took a few more deep breaths, willing his soul to quiet. He focused on the journey. This was an adventure, he told himself. Every great Prince should have one.

He opened his eyes once more and took in the deepening twilit fores around him. It was similar to his home, and yet so strange and unknown. He rather liked the new flowers and birds he'd seen so far. As he looked around and began moving once more, something caught his attention. He thought it was movement, but in the deepening gloom it was hard to be sure. All he knew was that it was almost moving parallel to him, far to his right. He decided to investigate and began moving closer, careful to make as little noise as possible. This proved an impossible task for the untrained Prince, and he found himself snapping twigs, crunching leaves, and being altogether very un-stealthy. He heaved a sigh at his own ineptitude and broke through the last bit of bushes, giving up on watching the creature unseen.

Upon finding the source of movement he'd spotted he saw she was a mare. He stopped dead in his tracks and merely gaped at her, unsure what to do. She was unmistakably from his herd. Her markings were very clear on that. He didn't know what to do, so he froze, standing before her in the failing light.

She did not hear or seem to notice the arrival of the stallion, or any other presence for that matter. All her focus was on the soft hum of the living forest. Quiet chirps of birds settling for the night. Crickets added there merry tunes into the mix and Cassi twisted around with her head held high. She opens her eyes with a bright smile only to gasp suddenly as another glow caught her attention and she realized she wasn't alone.

Cassi stared first in fear, then bewilderment. This stallion...he looked like she did! Well, okay not exactly. Where her tail was feathered, his was long and beautiful. He had longer ears but she had a horn.

What probably felt like an uncomfortable eternity of just staring, Cassi realized she was being rude and a soft sound of embarrassment escaped her. "I... Forgive me! Um... H-hello." She said shyly, ears flicking lower as she averted her gaze slightly.

Sin was used to a certain amount of bewilderment at his presence and endured her flustered staring and stuttering introduction stoically. After all, he was a Prince and the others in his herd typically fell all over themselves when he happened by. It didn't even occur to him to be surprised that this mare would know him, suspecting as he did that she was from his herd. She was unfamiliar to him, but the herd was large enough that he couldn't possibly know everyone.

Pleased by her demure and respectful nature he bade her to rise. "Please, there is no need for formality this far from the herd. Please, my lady, tell me your name?" There was no need to introduce himself, since clearly she knew who he was already.

No need for formality? Cassi felt herself freeze up again, wondering if she'd done something she wasn't supposed to? All she had done was say hello... The mare shifted her weight from one hoof to the other shyly, confused by this stallion that looked so much like she did.

"I-I'm sorry." She squeaked softly, ears lowering. "M-My name is Cassiopeia."

Cassi couldn't stop stealing glances at the stallion, so baffled as to how they could look so alike! The usually soothing sounds of the forest didn't help to keep her heart from beating out of her chest. She didn't want to admit that the stallion intimidated her a little, with his strong aura about him. Like she should know him but she didn't.

"What... brings you out here?" She asked, attempting to find something to initiate conversation.

Fatal Irony
I'll make this my priority then so we can both get stats!

Her name wasn't familiar to him, but he wasn't surprised. He couldn't possibly know everyone from his old home after all, particularly if they weren't from one of the royal families. Still, he smiled at her pleasantly and dipped his head respectfully. "Cassiopeia, what a lovely name." He also found her rather charming with her shyness and stutter.

He paused at her question, thinking about what he should say. He was, technically, breaking with all tradition and rules by chasing some forbidden mare through the unknown areas of the world. Clearly this girl before him knew nothing of that and he wasn't sure he wanted to reveal that about his quest.

He settled instead on a simpler explanation. "I'm here seeing the world, of course. Adventuring. What about yourself?"

She gave the stallion a shy smile at his compliment of her name. "Thank you." She managed to get out without stuttering too much. The more she was able to carry on a conversation, it seemed, the less uncertain of her socialization skills she became. Even her ears had perked back up as she listened politely to what he had to say.

Ooooh! He was adventuring and exploring the world? Now that was something she could relate to. Cassi couldn't help the slightly brighter smile she gave him. "Oh! I can understand that completely." She nodded with a brief gesture towards their surroundings. "I recently did that too. Though... I guess I still am kind of exploring." She paused, wondering if she should explain more? Did strangers you just met want to hear about stories from your grandmother and amazing herds you sought after hearing about them in said stories?

"I... recently set out on my own adventure, too, I guess." Cassi decided to keep her story toned down. In case she bored the stallion. "My grandmother always told me of this wonderful herd in the forests. A very accepting one that... she was briefly a part of. I... I wanted to see it for myself." And maybe join it too. If she ever found it.

Cassi hesitated, feeling rather rude for not asking right away before. "May I ask what your name is?" She said a little shyly. She really wanted to know where he came from, but felt that was too intrusive for not even knowing his name yet!
