After the initial scare at her house where she had mistaken her father for a burglar, Phaedra had decided that getting out of the house would be a good idea. Her main intent was to go to the market and get a few things for the house. Mostly food since she was the one that would be cooking. Phae had thought about what to make and had decided that a nice loaf of bread would be fun and she could fry some fish. Of course this was provided she could get the ingredients needed when she got to the market. Plus she wasn't so sure if there would be fish at the market or even how fresh it would be. Worse came to worst she could always grab her fishing gear and go in search of a body of water. Pushing her brunette hair behind her ear she'd walk at a leisurely pace. Since her father didn't need anything there was no rush in this little errand. Clasping her hands behind her back she'd take a deep breath and look at her surroundings. Jauhar was different than Tale but she could appreciate a fresh start, which was what both she and her father had wanted.

Chalcedony wasn't in the best of moods, how could he be, with those damn Alkidike on the war path. Really, hadn't they just gotten done with a war and now they wanted to start in again? Were they not there? Hadn't they had enough fighting for the time being? It was one of those questions that was of course answered already given how many rumors he'd been hearing these days about the lot of them. There were days that he just wanted to pack up his family and move them elsewhere, far from the Alkidike and their superiority issues. Lifting a hand to rub his temples he glanced back in the direction of his family home, then forward again. There was no talking to his father about the idea of moving though, the man was so damn stubborn. How many times had he heard 'I've been here my whole life I'll be damned if I leave now'. He supposed that he could understand from his point of view, unlike Chalcedony who had done a lot of traveling in his time Bomani had stuck to Jauhar, not bothering to go that far given there was enough to deal with in Jauhar according to his father. The man wouldn't be leaving, which meant just being on guard and prepared for when the Alkidike thought to pick fights with the Shifters. If they were so determined to chase them off they would end up at Sol sooner then later since it was one of the villages closest to where the Alkidike lived. He'd have to stick close to home and to Sol just so that he could be ready for them. As he approached the village of Sol he heard various voices calling out greetings to him, something that caused him to respond in turn. It was strange, having so many people know him, but he supposed that he'd done enough in his time to warrant such a thing. It still didn't make it feel any less odd though since it wasn't as though he wanted to be a well known hero or anything, everything he'd done was for his family... well, save for the tournament. That was just for a shot at punching Jacinthus in the face. A thought that made him smile as he made his way toward the marketplace. He had to pick some things up for the family, wanting to make sure that their stores were filled in case the Alkidike showed up to make trouble.

She was busy walking in the odd quiet of the day when she heard something that perked her interest. Where it had been a relatively calm moment at one point it was now filled with voices calling out. Enough so that it had caught her attention. Unclasping her hands from behind her back Phaedra turned her head to look and even went up on her tip toes. Who was it everyone was calling out to? Then she heard the name and saw the tank of a man. When she'd been a youngling in Vers she'd heard of a shifter that fought in the resistance. What she was seeing now was that shifter; if the crowd was to be believed. Face lighting up she'd move around bodies and make her way toward Chalcedony. Phaedra was very small compared to him and it made her think that he could break her in two if he even bumped into her. "Chal..?" She called out to him a bit hesitantly. The leaf girl hoped she wasn't bothering him too much, but she did have questions for the man.

Chal turned when someone very close to him called out in a manner more hesitant then he was used to, looking from side to side, then down, spotting a member of the Leaf Tribe. Leaf Tribe? Here? He starred a moment before giving her a smiled, "Hello there, young lady, have we met?" He was almost certain that he didn't know her. Hers was a face that wasn't really familiar to him. Maybe he'd crossed paths with her at the war camp? Or it could have been one of the times that he'd traveled to Tale to visit his sons and their mother? Either one could be where he'd run across her he thought to himself. "Can I help you?" Maybe she was lost? Not too often that he saw members of the Leaf Tribe this far North without a reason after all. Hopefully whatever brought her here wasn't a bad thing, there was already more then enough bad things going on if you asked him. A thought that made him feel for a moment like a bit of an old man who had seen too much in his day. As such he quashed such thoughts, instead focusing on the young lady before him, waiting to see if she was in need of assistance before he continued on his way toward the marketplace. He couldn't very well leave her on her own if she was in need of help after all, not when she appeared younger then his sons were.

Young lady. Phaedra gave a small giggle at that but smiled up at the man none-the-less. "Wha- Oh, no, we've never met." She got a bit closer to him and held her hand out for him to take. While she would have greeted the man with a hug, she was slightly afraid of the potential bear embrace that was a promise if she did. "My name is Phaedra. My Dad and I recently moved here to Sol." With her free hand she reached up to tuck the other side of her hair, the one not held by the barrette, behind her ear. For a moment her eyes dropped away from Chalcedony's face to look at the man's wide chest. It was muscled enough to inspire thoughts in her mind that she likely shouldn't have. With that her cheeks seemed to catch fire and she gave a nervous cough. "I'm sorry to bother you. I just heard about you when I was younger." Phae managed to get her eyes back up to his face.

A pair of people from the Leaf Tribe who had moved to Sol? That was an interesting thought, especially given everything that was going on at the moment with those warrior women. He blinked when he realized that he wasn't saying a lot and quickly said, "Welcome to Sol, I do ask that you be on guard though. Another tribe in the area, the Alkidike, have been kicking up a bit of a fuss and I would hate for you to get caught up in it when you just moved here, Phaedra." That wouldn't really be a good introduction to Sol at all, which was a shame since it was a wonderful village, one that he would rather stay peaceful if at all possible. Even if that meant that he was caught up in yet another fight that he really didn't want to be a part of so soon after the water. Chalcedony shifted in place, his cheeks coloring ever so slightly when she said that she'd heard about him when she was younger, "I see, ah... It's interesting to hear that my word of me has spread." He wasn't sure what he thought about that, that people were hearing about him even as far as Tale. To be honest it was a bit embarrassing, more so even then being greeted so wholeheartedly as he was each time he came into Sol. doing his best to get his blush under control he said, "It's no bother at all, Phaedra, I am just running a few errands after all." He added, not wanting the young lady to think that she was being any sort of bother to him when he wasn't exactly doing anything of great significance. Just normal, every day errands really.

His mention of the Alkidike tribe made her blink and give a confused look before it dawned on her. There had been rumors that she and her father had heard when they were moving. The closer they had gotten to Jauhar the more the rumors seemed to be common knowledge. It wasn't the best thing to hear about a place you were moving into. "Mhm, I remember hearing some rumors about that. I hope they don't cause a full conflict though." However, living in the same area as Chalcedony meant she wouldn't have to worry about everything being destroyed. "Well, we lived in Vers and it was close to the border so my Dad kept up to date on the fighting." She hoped that would explain how she'd heard of him. "Oh, I was on my way to do some errands as well." Phaedra looked at him for a moment before she brought her hands around behind her so that she could cup them together. "I will be making dinner, maybe I can treat you? I plan to make fresh baked bread and fried fish if the market has any." Was it too much for her to invite him to dinner? She had to think for a moment.

Giving a nod of agreement he said, "It would be nice if it was kept to a dull roar, I have had enough of fighting full scale battles myself but I wouldn't be able to sit it out if they started something serious." As much as he'd rather they just remained calm he knew that there was the chance that they realy meant it this time. That it would be more then just them complaining. There was a difference after all between the normal Alkidike and those who were picking fights this time around. He would need to stay vigilent. Turning back to her he gave a slow nod, "Vers, huh? I haven't visited there but I've heard of it. What brought about the move if you don't mind me asking?" Especially to the village of another tribe? It wasn't that he was against mixing tribes, his sons' mother was Leaf Tribe, but he was still curious about such things. "Oh? Do you? Well, you are welcome to tag a long with me if you like?" No reason not to shop and chat at the same time he thought to himself as he turned, about to start in the direction of the marketplace when she was suddenly inviting him over to dinner. It was a sudden thing, one that caused him to freeze in place for a moment before he turned slowly to face her again, "Dinner?" It was a kind invitation, and likely one he got because she was curious about him he thought to himself. He doubted it could be anything given he was old enough to be her father. Speaking of which, "I don't know, I wouldn't want to be a bother to you or your father." He said, unable to imagine how her father might react to her inviting some strange, older man over for dinner. That aside though he said, "Sol is closer to the ocean then some Jauhar villages so we actually do get some fresh fish in. So long as you make it to the marketplace earlier then everyone else you will get a good variety to choose from. Come on, I can show you the best place to look if you like?"

She nodded in agreement. It was definitely something she wanted to keep calm. If only there was a way to appease the Alkidike tribe. Phaedra wouldn't think too hard on it though. As Chalcedony asked her what caused the move she paused for a moment, chewing on her inner cheek as she tried to think of the best way to answer. "When the war ended my mother took my two younger sisters and moved across the border to be with with her lover. She abandoned me and my Dad." Might as well tell the truth. It wasn't like it was some big secret. Nor did the truth hurt her. It might still hurt her father. "My Dad wanted to move away from the town that held so many memories of her. We've not heard from them since." Her shoulders lifted a little. The offer to tag along with him was met with a nod of her head. "I'd like that." Having him help her and show her where the best stuff was in this new market would be nice. It would also mean that Phaedra wouldn't have to worry about someone attempting to rob her blind. Who would want to mess with anyone when they were walking with this man? She certainly wouldn't. "Oh, my Dad would likely want to meet you but I won't force you to come. I just thought to offer." Phae gave a chuckle. As the two walked she found her eyes once again going toward Chal's chest, this time though her eyes dipped lower to see his core muscles. Something like that shouldn't be allowed in nature. Forcing her gaze away she'd decided to ask something off hand. "I don't suppose you would know where I can get some training on how to fight, do you?" She kinda hoped he'd offer.

Chal's eyes got wide, a bit surprised, as she explained to him what it was that had brought her family to Sol. So they moved due to heartbreak? Now there was something he could actually relate to he thought to himself, keeping such a secret to himself though. Instead he said, "I am sorry to hear that. Sol is a welcoming village, I hope that the two of you are able to make some good friends here." He was sure that they would be able to meet those that lived in the village and hopefully find some good friends as well. "Ah, he would?" He was a little surprised, finding himself wondering if it was because of him being a 'war hero' or so he'd been called that the man would want to meet him over dinner. Chalcedony seemed to be thinking about it for a moment before he nodded his head, "I see, well, if you're certain that it wouldn't be a bother." He should probably meet with her father as well, if he was seen welcoming the Leaf Tribe family into Sol them it might make more people open to welcoming them as well. If he could make things easier for them after the hard time they'd had then he was only too happy to try. Starting forward toward the marketplace, with Phaedra at his side. He turned to look over at her, lifting an eyebrow, "Training on how to fight?" He asked, thinking about it for a moment, "There are a few people here and there, those my age, who at times take on students. Why do you want to know? Aren't you a little young to be worry about that sort of thing?"

She noticed his wide eyed look about the reason behind their move and she turned her head to look away. Phaedra didn't want pity for that. Her mother was the one who decided to tear their family apart. She wouldn't feel sorry for herself. Or for her father. They were better off without such a poisonous woman. Happy to have a change of subject she looked back at the big bear of a man and smiled. "No bother. My Dad would love to meet others of the village." It was her job to make sure her father was still sociable. "He's a sorcerer so he's usually nose deep in a book." Phae gave a small laugh at the idea. When he looked at her as if accessing her ability she straightened a little. "Well, how old were you when you learned to fight? Besides.. who is going to protect me if the Alkidikes do decide to attack?" A brow lifted at him a little. Phaedra wanted to learn how to better move with her trident. Or at the very least how to block a hit.

"Ahhh, a sorcerer? Interesting. I never did quite understand magic myself. Those who have it always impress me but it wasn't something that I ever had any sort of talent when it came to that sort of thing. I had a friend who was pretty good at it though." He said in a musing tone of voice, for a moment wondering how said friend was doing these days but decided not to think too hard on that. Instead he focused on his new friend, "I will see about picking some stuff up to bring with me for dinner, I don't want to make a new family do all the work." It was only right that he bring something along. A soft chuckle came from Chalcedony as the girl seemed to puff up like a kinfa, seeming as though she weren't too happy with his comment. He starred at her for a moment, then gave a smile, "When I was quite young, though to be fair I was on the road with an exploration party at the time. It was neccessary that we all toughened up so as not to be a detriment to our group." He explained to her, then gave a little sigh, "Though you are still probably right, it wouldn't be right to leave the younger members of the village like yourself without proper training if the Alkidike are wanting to make trouble." He gave a thoughtful sound before asking, "Have you put much thought into what you might be wanting to wield? Weapons? Magic? Any ideas? I had one of my sons decide upon magic, while the other picked a lance. Everyone has their own preference it seems."

Phaedra gave a small chuckle. "I'm no good at magic either. I am pretty sure my Dad would be happy knowing I never attempted it again." As he mentioned bringing something for dinner she shook her head. "You don't have to, I'm a pretty good cook. I promise not to burn anything." The last time she had burnt something was a few years ago. And to be fair she had been distracted by her sisters. Phae pushed thoughts of them away and locked them in the back of her mind. She didn't want to think about anything from the past right now. Hearing how he had learned to fight made her feel for him. Having to toughen up so that you weren't the weak link n a group could sometimes be hard. When he gave in and admitted she was right she couldn't help the beaming smile she gave. "Oh, no magic for me. I have a trident that I am okay with but I could be better." Phae nodded in agreement to her own words. Her eyes went slightly wide when Chalcedony mentioned he had sons. "You have sons? I didn't know that."

Instantly curious he found himself asking, "You've tried magic out before?" Wondering if perhaps she'd tried to burn something down with her attempt at her hand at such a skill. He smiled and then said, "I don't mind bringing something along, but if you're certain?" It felt a little odd to not bring something along with him, but if she was so insistent he supposed that he could allow it, right? Chalcedony paused as they made it to the market place of Sol, looking around, "Alright, now we just need to look around and try to find what it is that we are looking for. The various merchants seem to have a 'spot' that they consider theirs and will end up with more often then not. So if you like a particular someone or something in particular you will learn where to find them." Starting forward again he led her to where a nice, older Shifter woman was located who sold fish, "She has several sons that bring in fish for her to sell, so she's the best one to go to if you want a wide variety to choose from. Though she tends to sell out fast so you will want to get what you can early in the day." He explained to her so that she would best know who to visit for at least fish. At her question he gave a little chuckle, "Yes, twin sons named Chandra and Aysun. Chandra sounds a bit like your father, often seen with a book in hand while Aysun... well, if you saw him you wouldn't miss him. He travels around with a zoo in his wake." He said, scratching the back of his head as he thought about the mass of beasts that followed the younger twin about.

Phae gave a small cringe when he asked if she had done magic before. "Heh, yea. Lets just say it took a while for my Dad's eyebrows to grow back." Hence why her father would be all too happy if she never went down a magic path. Her attention quickly went to the market as Chalcedony started to explain everything. Knowing that vendors usually stayed in the same area was a plus. It meant she could make the entire market in her head and not have to wander around aimlessly. Phaedra smiled at the shifter that had the fish s her wares. "Oh perfect." She would need to make sure she got one before she left the market. When he said he had twin sons she lifted both brows in astonishment. "Oh wow." Still she was curious about them. "Chandra is the magic user then?" It was a guess but she was pretty sure she knew the answer. Hearing that the other son had a zoo that followed him around made her laugh. "He must have his hands full then."
