Somehow, Shun managed to sneak off on his own without having anyone badgering him about his injuries and wanting to effectively babysit him as he embarked on this quest. Having retrieved the horse that abandoned him the last time around, he fiddled around with his gear and equipment, making sure that everything was in place. It seemed that he had everything he needed for the journey. With a deep breath, he dug his heels into his steed's side and off they went into the wilderness beyond Camelot. Perilous times were ahead. [Part 1] The journey was... off to a bit of a rocky start to say in the least. As he hit the mountain paths, he found the footing there to be rather difficult to be sure of. Shun was forced to dismount for a time due to the steep nature, guiding the horse along the rocky paths. It didn't help all that much. As he made his way, he slipped. [Part 1 - a] The result of this folly ended with a few of his rations being lost to the earth way down below. Shun cursed lowly, hoping that would not cost him dearly. In these harsh times, food was such a precious resource. He hated to see it go to waste like that. With a heavy sigh, he had no choice but to continue on. There was little point in attempting to retrieve what was lost. The chances were that he would lose more if he did try. And those were chances he was not willing to take. [Part 2] Speaking of such, Shun felt the pang of hunger before too long. As much as he would like to preserve what he had left, he knew he needed to keep his strength up as well. He would be of no use to the King if he were starved upon finding him. Shaking his head, he dug into his pack to take out some of his rations. Just as he did so, a large spider dropped down from a tree. With a hiss, he quickly disposed of it. But in his haste to do so, his food had fallen off of the saddle and into the muck below. Gone. [Part 3] With the way his food reserves were dwindling due to mishaps, Shun was concerned over how long he would be able to keep this up. As he road along the not-so-beatened path, he spotted something strange ahead. Furrowing his brow, he hopped off of Blacktide briefly to investigate. Once he got closer, he could see that it was a sack of sorts. With a bit of inspection, he found himself a small cache of food. Rations, similar to what he had. Someone else must have lost this. Well, it was his now. He added his findings to his remaining stock. Perhaps this will allow him to keep on this Quest for a little longer. QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 28 YOUR HP: 30

[Part 4] The summit of the mountain was ahead of him. Pressing onwards, he urged Blacktide to help him complete this little journey. The ground was as treacherous as ever, but he was determined. With some careful maneuvering, he managed to reach the top. There was no one there, unfortunately. Or fortunately, depending on how one might take that. Dismounting, Shun explored the area, trying to find signs of the King. There were none. Instead, he found something lying on the ground. Cautiously, he approached to inspect what it was. He had to brush away some dirt, but it became apparent that it was a pauldron of sorts. Black steel with onyx encrusted into it. He lifted it up and inspected it. This would do for now. Once he recovered, he gathered the things he needed and went back out. As determined as he was to embark, he was going to need to keep in mind that he can't go at it full on right off the bat. Shun was going to need to pace himself. He still planned on going relatively quick, but he was going to take it a little more easy than his last outing. He gave Blacktide a light pat on the neck, then ventured out into the wilderness with his pack of rations. QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 15 YOUR HP: 30

Blacktide seemed a bit nervous for a time. Shun was not really sure what the cause of that was. Unfortunately, he soon found out. A hungry mountain lion came pouncing out of nowhere. The knight apprentice had to fend it off, lest he become its meal. It was not an easy fight to say in the least, and he sustained a few injuries as a result. After cutting into the beast, then kicking it off of the nearby cliff, he took a moment to assess the damage. The puma had managed to wound him decently. He grabbed some bandages and bound what he could. Now was not the time to slow down. He still could continue on. He knew it. QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 15 YOUR HP: 20

[Part 2] Things were about to become more difficult for him as well. Blacktide decided that he had enough of this journey. Perhaps the mountain lion had really shaken the horse, or maybe it just decided that it did not really want to climb the steep slopes. With a snort, the black horse fled back towards Camelot, leaving his rider to finish this on his own. "Damn you..." he hissed under his breath. Between his fresh injuries and having to go on foot now, this was going to be a longer and more arduous task than before. He closed his eyes and settled down onto a flat rock to rest awhile. [Part 3] As he traversed along the path, he came across a cavernous tunnel. Shun began to make his way through, remaining at high alert due to the dim lighting within. As he walked, his foot caught onto something soft, mixed within the rocks. He crouched down to see what it was. Much to his surprise, it was a bag of food. Briefly, he glanced around, but there was no one else within the vicinity. Without a second thought, he stashed the extra food away, then straightened up. He was not about to question this small blessing. He needed every advantage he could get from here on out. QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 20 YOUR HP: 20
