After returning to the kingdom to wait out his illness, he'd lost contact with his two companions from earlier. That wasn't such a big deal, though. He could easily just go on his own. So he did. There was a growl in the distance, and he paid it little mind at first. But then the wolf appeared on the road in front of him and it was already too late. It lunged forward, attacking him with a rabid ferocity. He managed to beat it off and save his food, but not without injury. His arms stung where claws had torn through fabric, but he pressed on anyways. He had gloves to fetch. QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 32 YOUR HP: 20

He stopped infrequently, much less than he would have in a group. But eventually he had to eat. He set up a small camp on the ground and was tearing into some bread when something crawled along his skin. It took only a glance of black to have him screeching and jerking away. It was obvious you were going in the right direction when the world started swinging back at you. Chris felt something depress under his boot and froze. For a moment all was blissfully still, but then with the rusty screech of unused machinery axes swung down. He barely missed losing a limb, but he didn't escape completely. He sees the gloves. They're not far away now, gleaming and unprotected. But just as he feels he's getting closer, a familiar clamminess washes over him. He bends in half, pained and uncomfortable. He's so close, but he's beginning to shake. He can't go on like this. He turns around, but not before one last longing glance at the gloves in the distance. He'd be back, and soon. Apparently when wolves couldn't stop a knight, the world sent bears next. Chris froze still, staring down at the massive animal. He wasn't sure what he expected, but the bear roared angrily and charged, not intent on bumbling away easily. Chris fought back, though he struggled. It took seemingly too long for him to escape the bear's swings and flee on his horse. He was tired and beat up afterward. QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 38 YOUR HP: 20
