Satoshi had long ago left his new homelands. He felt a need to find someone who had been lost for many years. No doubt if she survived, she would be an adult now. He hoped with all of his heart she did make it. Leaving behind his family was difficult. Ever since the event that took his mother away, he had been the one his father and youngest sister leaned on while they healed and adjusted to their new struggles. Often times he would think of the small filly that disappeared. Being the eldest at the time Satoshi felt it was his duty to watch her. Their parents saved them from the attack of skinwalkers, mother lost her life while father was heavily injured but their bodies shielding him and his sister kept them alive. When they scrambled away in fleeing, some how he lost track of little Shika.
He tried the surrounding tribes and herds first but no one would tell him if they had seen or helped a scared little rainbow filly. With a heavy heart he set his attention on his family but now, he felt the need to find her. He could set off on his own without worry. Taking nothing with him he set off further out. He would find himself here in the Soquili lands where he hoped he would find a clue. Something to let him know his searching wasn't in vain. It looked like his search wouldn't be easy. From the looks of things there were a great many to speak to. Many herds as well as those who traveled from place to place solo. Heading down from the mountain in his small form, he was exhausted. He hadn't thought flying up this height would be hard. Descending was almost just as tough and half way down he found a shelf of rock to rest upon.

Isobel had isolated herself from other soquili by climbing the mountain. Here no one would threaten or even try to pull off her precious curse of a ribbon. It made her far too nervous to meet other horses. That in turn made her depressed. She found a good cliff to rest on where she could sulk and be miserable all alone. The mare sank down and rested on the hard rock with her legs pulled in close to her body. Wind blew against her frame harshly making her shiver. The shortened mane she kept did nothing to really help keep her warm. She envied mares and stallions alike that had long beautiful manes. She would never be that lucky. Once she was cursed with this ribbon she had grown fearful of everything. It made her careful of where she went. It surely might spell her doom if she went through those thick forest areas and had her ribbon get caught on a branch.
While she quietly worried herself into an alert state, glancing around her despite the isolation, she noticed something. There near the edge of the rocks was a very colorful little something. Not much bigger than a little chipmunk. This was far to vibrant with many colors to be such a creature. And it's tiny wings! Oh my it was scary and.. a little cute. She watched it for several long minutes before she hesitantly called out to this bitty thing. "H..Hello..?" Her voice was almost long on the wind. Did the overseeing beings feel pity for her and bring her a familiar? Would she even be worthy of one? Her mane blew in her face as she tried again, her voice barely above a squeak when the creature turned around and looked at her. Eyes widened she stared at the soquili that was no size she had ever seen before and she had met a small soquili before.

His senses had dulled thanks to the wind. His relieve came as the little tufts of grass dotting the cliff blew in the breeze. Taking advantage of his size, he could curl up in a bundle of green and nap while the blades held some protection from that wind. Or else he might just blow away. His wings fluttered as he was unable to fold them down against his sides like a bird could. The nap however was not as long as he would have liked. It was starting to get dangerous staying up here. Opening his eyes after the nap, he let out a tiny whicker. But a noise that wasn't his own caught his attention. He wasn't sure if that was a voice but it made him wary. Turning his head he looked back behind him to notice a regular sized soquili had taken rest here as well just feet from him. By the looks of it she was as surprised as he was. Getting up, he trotted over to her. She looked friendly enough and Satoshi wasn't one to just ignore a lonely looking stranger. When he reached within inches of her bent knees, he would bow his head and upper body low. "Hello, Good afternoon."
Isobel felt her body stiffen on his approach. She was in a vulnerable position that wasn't easy to quickly move from to stand. In any of those mere seconds it could take, she could be attacked or worse, her ribbon pulled. The little stallion bowed and spoke aloud in a greeting, making her let out an awkward noise like a squeak. Even in that size he could be dangerous! It took her some time before she calmed down enough to actually reply. "He..hello.."
Standing upright again, Satoshi noticed how terrified she looked. He couldn't imagine his size being scary. Maybe he had approached too close. He turned and walked what would be a few feet to him then turned back to face her once more before responding. "I apologize if I scare you. I'm Satoshi" he spoke aloud, his eyes set on her nose instead of her eyes. "I don't wish to disturb you, you are the first of this land I have seen."

Isobel sighed and shook her head. She felt a tinge of regret for acting so frightened over this tiny soquili. She laid her head down against the rock, her pale grey eyes looking at him. "I'm Isobel.." she piped quietly for a few reasons. There was a moment of silence. Should she welcome him to this place? Where she so wrongly was cursed. Where she felt punished with no family or friends to speak of. Constantly in fear of the ribbon bound around her neck. Her eyes half closed, she spoke in a continued quiet tone "Are you sure you want to be here?"
Satoshi was relieved she wasn't fleeing and he made her feel at ease. Her speech had even improved and no more odd squeaks. "Pleasure Isobel-san." He bowed his head and gave her a warm smile. He noticed the look in her eyes, so oddly colored. He hadn't seen another with such eyes. "Should I be concerned about this place? I am trying to find a lost loved one."

Isobel let out a slow sigh. "I have no luck here.. Are you sure this loved one is here?" she asked of him, watching how the wind on the mountain side made his pretty wings flutter. "Maybe they passed through." she added to sound a little helpful at least. Though she hadn't seen anyone that looked like him thus far in her life. He was so dark yet vibrant, it was hard to miss and if there was another like him around, she surely would remember.
Satoshi felt a chill as the wind started picking up. If he wasn't careful, he would be blown right off the cliff. He sat down on his rump, which probably looked odd, to make himself just a little more solid. "My apologies with your own luck. Are you looking for someone as well?" He questioned back before shaking his head. "I have little to follow. I've searched for months." After he said that he stopped to wonder. Did she ever look for them? Did she stop or is she still out there, now a few years later, trying to find them. He felt a little shamed that he had only been looking months. It wasn't really fair to her either way. He just hoped with all that he had, to the great spirits, that she would want to be found. "I am hoping so. By your remark I can guess you have not seen another like myself." When she in turn shook her head he closed his eyes for a moment. He had heard this everywhere in his trip so far and this didn't sound promising. When his eyes opened he looked determined. "I will keep looking then. I thank you Miss Isobel-san." He bowed his head deeply before standing up.
]She felt bad for him. Really bad. He had family or maybe a mate who he really wanted to find. She had felt that way for a long time as well before she gave up. There wasn't family here that was hers. For all she knew, the voodoo got them too and they lost their ribbons... or worse. When it sounded like he was going to leave her, she felt a sudden dread deep down. "I wouldn't go alone down there. There are all sorts that might hurt someone small like you." She stood up slowly, moving her tail out of the way least she step on its own ribbon. "I guess.. I can go with you. Keep an eye out for your family or any evil.. lurking in the shadows.."

When she stood up, his neck craned far back just to see her face. Being this small had some disadvantages. Fluttering his wings he lifted into the air just a few inches to put some distance between them. If he had shifted right in front of her, he might have fallen from the cliff. The wind blew and threatened his small frame even more to be carried off. He fluttered his wings as hard as he could and dropped to the rocky shelf once more then shifted to his full size. "I hadn't thought there was something dangerous here. But I shall be glad for the company." He replied with a smile to the mare. He motioned with his head to the path she had taken to get up here. "Does that take us down?"
"You are lucky to not know yet." She watched him struggle to fly just a short distance and took a step forward to block some of the wind. Turning to watch him, her eyes widened when he grew in size. Now he was about as tall as her and it startled her. She hadn't seen a flutter and had no clue they could do that. It made her back step in the wrong direction, her left back hoof reaching the edge when she stopped. The rock crumbled in little pieces and broke away making her leg suddenly drop. She whinied and scrambled to right herself.
Satoshi fluttered his wings a moment more before settling to look over at the mare again. Now he was rather curious what was so bad. He wanted to ask her but her whiney caught his attention. In a quick judgement he closed the gap between them and grasped a strand of her ribbon, helping to pull her upright. But it only made Isobel flail more, bucking in panic and almost knocking him off next. He ducked her hooves and backed away towards the trail she had taken. "Are you alright Isobel-san? I'm apologetic if I.." he was cut off in his words with the look of her body shaking. Frowning he stood where he was, not sure he should approach her again. If he gave her a moment maybe she could calm down.

Everything had happened so fast. She was starting to slip and her life was saved.. but her ribbon had been tugged on. It wasn't right away that she was so glad it didn't easily unwind. She just knew panic set in, fear that the ribbon would in fact come undone and that would be her end. She was safe on the ledge again, shaking visibly with nerves a wreck. She was mostly scared and relieved. It took her a long time to calm herself enough to look around slowly. The world was still around her and so was the dark and rainbow stallion who was looking perplexed. Her body stopped shaking as much and she let out a long knicker. "I'm still here.." she breathed out to help gain control of frayed nerves even more. Her hooves were still beneath her. She was still on the mountain and she was pretty sure she wasn't a ghost though some times she could be mistaken as one. Her attention drifted to the male again. Instead of being angry over what happened she just lowered her head "I'm sorry"
He watched in silence. He wasn't the type to run off even if she turned crazy on him. Mostly he was worried something was still wrong. "Yes you are" he responded hoping it helped affirm that she was in fact still there and in one piece. When she seemed settled and she apologized, he shook his head and slowly approached her again leaving a gap for comforts sake. "Apologies are not necessary. I am happy you are safe." He gave her a warm smile and clicked his tongue before turning again to the path though he didn't move for it, letting her start down before him. "We should get down from here before something more troublesome becomes us."
He followed behind the mare, his wings closed above his back to keep from having the wind knock him forward. The less resistance against the wind the better. So far she didn't seem highly conversational and he would respect that, keeping to himself on the trek rather than blather on about nothing. He hadn't quite figured her out either which also put a bit of a damper on being social. All he knew was that she looked so lonely and she didn't like the lands in which he was entering. He had yet to get that story to slip and it made him curious. Satoshi was highly respectful so he would leave it to her to bring it up if she wanted to tell him. It just wouldn't do for him to question her and invade her personal affairs. Maybe, he thought, he could learn more about the mare and become her friend. Possibly her only friend. If he were to find his sister here however, he was sure if she was anything like him or his dear mother, she would happily befriend this poor forgotten mare too.

Isobel glanced behind her now and then to make sure the stallion was still there. For all she really knew, he could have been a full blown figment of her imagination. Maybe she really was that lonely now that she was making up imaginary friends to wander with her. It might not have seemed far fetched though she didn't think she would think up such a lovely coat for him on her own. While they made the walk down the mountain she thought it was best to further warn him about some of the dangers in the lands. "You should avoid the swamps. My guess is who you are looking for wouldn't be around there anyway.. but you could run into alligators that could take your hoof off with their big mouths and teeth. Worse is the voodoo. Don't get caught around those who do that or you could be cursed." When she finished that last remark her voice sounded sadder than it had since they met. As much as she hated to dredge up the memory, she wore a constant reminder and fear of it. It gnawed at her thoughts every day and it made her loose sleep and even eat far less than she should. If he looked closely at her sides he could make out some of her rib cage below her hide.
Satoshi listened to her warning. These alligators sounded serious but voodoo? He thought about it. He hadn't heard of such a thing where he was from. When she had mentioned being cursed, that was something he could understand. Voodoo and curses, something he surely wouldn't want to mess with. He would do his best then to avoid these swamps, whatever those areas looked like. To get a better idea he had to ask, "How will I know I am in swamp lands?" He listened and retained the information when she explained that the area would be heavily wooded, sun light could not penetrate the heavy treetops, and most of the land was covered in murky water with duckweed, something similar in appearance to algae. "No swamps. Any where else I should avoid?"

She hopped down the last small jutting rock until her hooves would land on grass and dirt. It had been awhile, the feeling softer then the hard stone. "Desert is nothing but sand and heat. Some unsavory creatures out there too but I have heard there is some that live out there and like it." Her long tail flicked out along her side, the ribbon twined around the middle of it held fast, the bow flapped momentarily from the motion. "Best to stick to woods. Is she a forest creature?" She asked him though with another look at him, she thought maybe more like vast clearings or meadows would be more likely. Those wings reminded her of a dragonfly. "I don't.. think I should go further." She slowed down and stopped. They hadn't gotten but a few feet from the mountain. "I'm sorry"
Satoshi's ears perked, hopping down the same spot she had. Desert, swamps, woods, this land sounded quite vast by her small dipiction of these areas. He did indeed wish to avoid trouble. His family was counting on him to make it home in one piece and with the great spirits blessing, not scratched. "I wish I could clerify where she might be. I have not seen her since she was a foal." He paced himself behind her, now that they had more room he wanted to keep her comfortable with a little distance. When she had stopped, so to did he. It took him seconds to comprehend what she had said. It was the furthest she would go already. He bowed his head to her once more before responding, "I thank you kindly for your help. Please be safe on your journey back." His head lifted and he gave the mare a warm smile. He would have to remember her on his trip back and thank her properly with a trinket. Should he find one here.
He parted ways from the mare and set off in a direction that drew him. He was taught to always follow the path that pulled you as it would hardly steer him wrong. He walked the rest of the day until the sun started to settle behind those very mountains he came over. He found a hollow near the base of a tree and shrunk down in size to fit inside. It would keep him safe for the night, tucked away and hidden from most predators.

There was that feeling again, gnawing at her in more confusing directions. She should have ignored her fear and went with him. He was the closest thing she had to a friend. It was that fear that helped her to survive this long and it was telling her to ditch the stallion and run back to the lonely safety of the mountain. "Good luck" she chimed when he gave his goodbye and quickly trotted back to the rocky surface she felt was her only sanctuary. On the second inclined cliff from the ground she walked over to the edge and watched the dark and colorful pelted male continue his journey. She hoped she would see him again and beyond anything, that she would see him with the one he was looking for. When he was but a mere colored speck amungst grass and trees, she turned and climbed the rest of the way back to her nitch to hide from the world.

Satoshi woke up bright and early the next day. In fact it was so early that the sun hadn't quite started to rise yet. He had gotten sporadic sleep but it was something he always dealt with since that event so long ago. Besides it meant more time trying to find her. He stretched and flutted out of the hollow, using the light from the fading moon to find food. Grass and berries, at least it wasn't terribly hard to find something edible. When he was content he resized. But he hadn't seen anyone else around and knocked right into another who had been trying to pluck an apple off a tree branch. The other crashed down on him and they both toppled to the earth with loud "Oof" The wind was knocked out of him, the weight of the other was quite solid. He managed to shift his hooves beneath him and stand up just as the other was doing the same. "My greatest apologies. I had not seen anyone else so close."
Darius snorted as he also got his hooves beneath him and stood up. His limbs a little sore but nothing he couldn't walk off. The hit seemed to come out of thin air. He had missed the small flutter before the resizing but now he was glancing over at the dark stallion a little bewildered. "I hadn't either or I would have kindly moved. Did you.. pop out of the ground?" He asked curiously, wondering how a full stallion just appeared like that. He trotted around the other, looking him over. The stallion wasn't dirty to
