[29/05/2015 11:54:36 PM] Andy Rose (Andraia; Cheshire) H: But the important bit is that there are these “Wyres” which are where all the dragons and their riders (as well as many many other people) live, and the dragons/riders protect Pern from this awful thing called Thread. So they’re important. Dragons come in five (although there are technically six in the book, one was a fluke and never repeated) colours. Gold, Bronze, Brown, Blue, and Green. The colours are different sizes and they’re all male except for Golds (the largest) and Greens (the smallest). Station in the Wyre is often dependant on the colour and prowess of he dragon. Dragonriders, except for gold riders, are all male.

Also, when your dragon gets... er... well, horny, you do too, so you often end up jumping the first willing person you come across, so you can’t generally blame your partner for being dragon-hormone-mindcontrolled into cheating on you. In general people are just much more relaxed about relationship stuff than Holdsfolk (people who live in Holds... so, basically 99% of the population).

Hense why she had a rivalry / dislike / likes-to-make-him-uncomfortable relationship with Mal -- who she was in more direct competition with -- and a much better relationship with the much more supportive Kelly who she both admired and respected.

[12:08:23 AM] Andy Rose (Andraia; Cheshire) H: The parents were the Wyreleader and Wyrewoman for most of the kid’s youth, but their mother’s dragon has stopped clutching and she steps down, and Elise’s dragon is the first to rise to mate, which makes her the new capital-Q Queen, and Kelly’s dragon caught her which makes him the new Wyreleader. Also it means they probably boned.

Although the plot (obviously) revolves around Elise’s love for the half-brother of her sort of effectively temporary husband XD . And some kind of conflict for the Wyre, probably internal, for Elise/Clara/andabitoftheboys to deal with, with something else external for Kelly/Mal/GG to deal with, something completely seperate for Via and Waydan to do that gives us an interesting other point of view to see the problems from, and Aydan bring the thing that ties everyone together and makes the plot actually move forward.
